Thanks for putting this together. He sure had some wonderful licks. Have you seen Ron Block's detailed tabs of many JD songs? It's a great resource. I learned Philadelphia Lawyer, from Bluegrass Holiday, and it has a cool and unique lick at the ending of the solo that I've not heard him play elsewhere. Also, he has some very cool licks on Roving Gambler. Thanks!

Right, Ron Block has really done his homework on JD, as well as pickers like Terry Baucom, Scott Vestal and others who've developed that solid right hand.

1971, but with a Huber tone ring, which gives it more clarity and pop.

Hi Eddie: I am a beginner banjo enthusiast. I am learning, trying to, the song, My old Kentucky home. I have the tab I wonder could you play it in a video? I'd sure appreciate it. Louis

Hi Louis, always appreciate the requests. I haven't really done much with that song. Look up Jack Hatfield. I know he has it in his book and may have a recording he can share with you.

According to JD, double anchor is how we do it!

Yes, it'll give you more of the driving bluegrass sound. Realize everyone's hand is wired differently, so we try what the greats do, but sometimes have to settle on what actually works for us.
