    We bought silver screens from Tailormade in Huddersfield last year for our Adria Compact - whilst we live in Yorkshire and could have easily collected, they sent them out and from order to delivery it took less than 48 hrs ! (They had basic makes all ready made up and that included the Fait Ducato ones that an Adria Compact is on)…..anyway, we have found them very easy to put on (takes less than 2 minutes with 2 of us) and we have had ZERO condensation in all conditions (NC500 in October and wild cold weather). When they have got drenched through in Scotland, they dried out really quickly. We also used them to keep the heat out in Italy last summer (31 degrees and NO habitation air conditioning) and they were fantastic (we did have little amazing usb fans that were silent and ran all night though). Anyway, the only extra comment I have, is if you have the FIAT Ducato one, where you put your windscreen wipers on top to help secure, dont switch your engine on and forget that your windscreen wipers are in ‘on’ mode - that happened to us and the windscreen wiper tried to move and broke off so we had to go out and buy another one! 😮😮😮

    A year ago we bought a new Hymer A class (sorry Martin, from a previous blog I know it’s your dream motorhome). We couldn’t bear the thought of having runners or studs fitted to the side of the windows and don’t want to risk compromising the warranty so went for a black Polar screen by Polar Technologies instead. The screen is firmly secured by trapping fitted flaps over the single cab door and sliding cab window. Fortunately they had a template for our make and model and so it was s simple matter of ordering for delivery. A high quality product that works very well.

      Good morning and thanks for watching and replying. Yes the Hymer A Class is a lovely motorhome and a great choice. I have other friends who rate the Polar option and we accept fully there is always more than one way of doing this. Thanks for sharing your views on this subject , best wishes Helen and Martin

      Hi Guys , good to hear from you both . Clumber Park is a pretty good site , still issue with bike thefts there, they have a secure cabin where they stow all the members bikes. Thanks for watching best wishes Helen and Martin

      We think they’ll be good, we noticed quite a bit of heat loss through the front window so the insulation should help to. Hope you’re enjoying Villajoyosa. Best wishes Helen and Martin

    Climber Park site does look good as does your Silver Screen from Taylor Made. We got ours from Minster Products and are very happy with it. I’m sure they are all very good to be fair. Safe travels. Irvine & Karen.

    We have the same model as you and 2 years ago I was hunting for this type of thing but no one had a pattern for one. So in the end we purchased a universal A class screen for the front and purchased materials from Ebay and got busy with making templates and made our own for the sides but they are internal. I'm sure you know the advantages and disadvantages of internal /external screens...needless to say however that the setup is highly effective in the Alpine winter.

    Hi Martin. Bought mine from there 2 yrs ago. They're very good and no condensation. However the sausage bag they come in. For me not easy to pack away. I bought a bag from IKEA. About 600 x 500 x 150.much easier to store. And very easy to get into bagI

    We purchased a polar thermal cover for our Dethleffs A Class and they fit really well, the drivers side has a neat arrangement where three suction cups are on the inside and then a thin waterproof material is trapped in place when you slide the window closed and there is a Velcro strip on the outside that the blind attaches to. Easy for one person to fit.

      There’s always a downside to everything lol! . We found that there was quite a heat loss through the large front window on our van so where looking for some insulation as well as reducing condensation. Thanks for watching best wishes to you both H and M

    Looks good, not a bad price, but too big and bulky for us in our VW Grand California 680. Plus, I did try an external cover, and it caused paint damage on the van ( which polished out).
    For us I still find the internal screens much easier, then a quick window vac in the morning, and then on our way. Even more so if it's been a wet and windy night, then trying to pack away a soaking wet external cover is no fun.

      Thanks for watching and taking time to comment , I do agree that there are times, conditions and on some park up’s where we’ll choose not to put them on and revert back to the internal screens and vac. Best wishes Helen and Martin

    Hi guys that’s a really good fit for your van isn’t it and there’s no just shoving it behind your window and hoping for the best - love it! Really good price too considering the size of the ones you bought. Marks been after some for a while but he wants a logo on them as well, is this something they do ? Thanks for sharing 😍 xxx

    I think you also have access to the frost protection valve on the boiler in that side cupboard. Ours is inside the van so I have to empty out half the garage area and go inside a cupboard.

    Just catching up on comments this morning, great cover but a couple of observations if I can? Does the bonded channel bond to a decal? Therefore the decal adhesive is the weak point if it ever comes off (unlikely I know just wondering) and the one thing I struggle with which you have to think about is putting that away and drying it if it’s wet, we put ours in the shower in a wheelie bin bag until we get home and hang it in the garage to dry, you keep the van in storage? Anyway I’m not knocking it just making comments for the algorithm. Cheers

    • @HelenandMartinsTreks
      @HelenandMartinsTreks  Před 5 měsíci

      Morning, yes it does touch the decals , the A class presents some need for compromise with a screen for sure. You are right about the drying of the screen one of the reasons it took me a while to get another screen, it was a pin on the other van. The heat loss through the screen this winter convinced me of the need . We can roll it up and put it in the boot which is heated so should dry some of it and the well take it home . Hope you’re both well , we are away soon but hopefully we’ll catch up at Newark Show. Thanks for watching Helen and Martin

    Great van you have. We have just bought a new 2024 model i 700 meg, and are looking at screens. I was concerned about the alloy strips which are essentially bonded to the side decals, so relying on the adhesive of the decals to hold the screen/rail in place. We were going to go for Polar Screens. Can you tell me a bit more about your concerns of how they fix to the sliding drivers window?

    • @HelenandMartinsTreks
      @HelenandMartinsTreks  Před 5 měsíci

      Hi congrats on your new van, ours has not missed a beat in three years so I’m sure you’ll not be disappointed. Reference the screens it’s a personal judgement call really and I’m not suggesting that this would likely be a major issue either way , but the windows and doors are designed to seal as per manufacturer’s design to keep out damp/moisture. I prefer not to test that by creating a material barrier. I think Polar make a good product and I’m sure yours will be fine. There’s been no reported cases of the bonding failing that Taylor Made are aware off, in fact I don’t know of any issues with screens at all of any make so keen I don’t give the wrong impression. We have much confidence in Taylor Made as we’ve used them before of course, but completely accept there are other options that will work. I have to say ours went on so easy , the video is a true reflection of how long it took, so far so good. Enjoy your van and thanks for watching. Best wishes Helen and Martin

    Good afternoon Martin and Helen. I don’t suppose you have a past vlog showing you bike cover on your 79-4T. We have one and as you say the Fiama covers are awful. Do Taylormade make them to measure your bikes?

      Good afternoon and thanks for watching . I think they can do any size you require. Ours is still like new and it was used all through Europe and around all the Scottish Islands and never budged. I recommend giving them a call - this the website taylormade-covers.co.uk/product-category/external-windscreen-covers/ . Best wishes Helen and Martin

      Good morning , we have a large habitation door , half way down the offside which we use 99.9% of the time when parked for access and if we need access to the front door the screen is removed literally in seconds. Thanks for watching H and M
