      I couldn’t agree more. Why are they providing these extras when they should be standard in Field? I live in Australia and Fiat 2.2 as seen as dogs. Regardless of the upgrades, they are powering overweight campervan and chewing up fuel. Highly powered unit (180hp) autos or 3L automatics are the preferred option. Additionally, we have limited support for Fiat in Australia, and the 2.2 unit is known to have massive issues. I recently bought a 3L Mercedes sprinter with low kms, and seven speed with a terrible interior.
      AUS15k later, it’s state of the art. Why would you stress your engine so much with low powered unit and manual? It makes absolutely no sense to me.

    Congratulations to Chausson for this vehicle, well done for this award. We had a 2015 728eb, that year the smaller new 710 won this award, with a similar bed that lowers right down. We decided to go for the larger vehicle with the fixed bed and realised the DD Bed only lowered to the top of the seat travel seat backrests. We only used it a couple of times for family guests in the 9 yrs we had it. This looks a great MH with campervan width. Smaller garage than my Adria twin PVC, much less internal light (no barn doors at the back, no side sliding door), less overhead storage cupboards at front, bathroom no better - (toilet gets soaked in this one unlike ours ) - and a much smaller bed, that renders the lounge unusable. And this is progress?
    I don’t see the point of a lounge equipped to seat 6, in a van that is capable of carrying 4, but in all likelihood will be used by 2 people for 95%+ of the time.

    • @MotorhomeCampervan

      The Adria Twin is great but it has a huge number of rivals and many UK buyers find the lounge too small in this type of vehicle. A lot of owners like more room to put their feet up, sprawl, etc.

    • @andrewstevenson6540
      @andrewstevenson6540 Před 3 měsíci +3

      I'd prefer the Adria too. If you're traveling long distances and need 40 minutes kip pop off the shoes and the beds already for a lie down.

      @@MotorhomeCampervanI agree the lounging area is smaller, but I’d argue these vans are primarily designed for 2 people….2 + 2 small kids at a push. That’s the job they need to do brilliantly and the traditional “continental” layout does that best. With two people, we can sprawl as much as we want with feet up on the two travel seats
      Plus, in a Twin I get a 6’4” double permanent super king width bed, and I don’t have to climb over a partner to get out. Or block the small side door when the bed is down….or lose my lounge as soon as one person wants to retire to bed.

  • @celtic-audiophile
    @celtic-audiophile Před 3 měsíci +1

    Extremely smart, the bed would be an issue in the real world. Many people will have two layers of pillows for reading the blind will certainly sustain damage, and for tall people a challenge as it would be impossible to have your head at the max with the blind, so anyone over 6ft not good.

And a proper garage? You can not say that for this closet! It is a garage when you can esily fit a scooter or motorcycle in it and it leaves half empty with it! @@MotorhomeCampervan I appreciate that… but as a UK expat, when I rent a car in UK it is very unusual to find an automatic (without paying high price) whereas on the continent the reverse is the case… as campervan drivers tend to do more miles, they should push for automatics to be standard (and therefore cheaper)… maybe if you bought on the continent, the price differential would reverse. Why on earth wouldn’t you go 180 hp and automatic as standard. 140 and manual for this is way too low. You’ll end up burning more fuel than the auto. Adding these as extra doesn’t make this cost-effective option. There is so much competition today and configuring a manual underpowered powertrain to an incredible internal proposition is not the best way forward. These are options that you can’t easily change in the future. I would rather have an overpowered economical unit and poor cabin because this can be easily rectified for little cost vs replacing engine.
    I live in Australia and a friend of mine had his caravan completely revamped for $7500 cash in hand . In summary, the carpenter took everything that existed and rearranged it. You can’t do that with an underpowered engine and manual gearbox.
    I know it’s country dependent but in Australia, buying the 2.2 L diesel Fiat is a no no . Anyone with any experience and long-term touring knows this is not an engine to consider.

    Stand out takeaway is this very annoying, eye watering 'extras' list. Before too long, a standard vehicle will simply be a chassis, one seat, and an engine. It's not restricted to luxury campervans either. KTM motorcycles, for example, lead the way with things like quickshifters and certain electronic enhancements actually fitted to the standard bikes...... but punters have to shell out extra cash to access these on the display.
    I am thinking of selling my flat in the down the toilet UK, buying a campervan and touring Europe, working as a digital nomad. What puts me off, however, is the unpalatable roads are crammed as it is, without having to have this massive girth of a vehicle to manoeuvre on them.

I've always thought that he folks who design lavabogatories in motorhomes must be able to fit in a RyanAir carry-on bag sizer jig, because they don't seem to understand that A: there's a standard height for the loo seat for a reason (ie not up at 2'8" on a plinth) and B: folks with an inside leg measurement over 27" do exist, as do folks with a waist measurement over 30" and hips over 40". Truthfully, I know an awful lot of folks who would never be able to use that loo remotely sensibly. It's far too cramped.
      Yes, I did watch the review - numerous times. It was actually instrumental in us making the decision to purchase ours, for which, many thanks. And yes, it's bigger, better suited to our needs, and, while not cheap per se, is amazingly well priced versus similarly specified higher end vans. And has no options list to bump the price up (aside from the execrably priced £500 option to have remote control over heating and lighting, something I'm trying to get changed).
      I mean, kudos to you for plonking your hind end on the throne - it's something too few reviewers do, IMHO, so we viewers don't get too much of an idea how roomy the smallest room actually is.
      As for the garage - the lip is too high, I think, and there's a school of thought that opines that more electrically moveable parts bring with them more opportunities for failure. But then, I don't do small - truth be told, I'd happily go for an American style RV with slide-outs and a huge black waste tank were I not of an age which probably precludes me taking the necessary HGV test without annual medicals...
