For Armagh born singer, Ríoghnach Connolly, the older people in her life ignited a passion for preserving the precious songs and stories embedded in our oral traditions.
The talented musician shares her thoughts on the 'Old But Gold' stories and songs so prevalent in the trad space, after her Powers 'Flash Trad' performance, which surprised unsuspecting punters at pubs across Belfast with impromptu trad sessions at The Duke of York earlier this year.
“Find the oldest person in the room and you get the best stories, ” she says.
