Thank you for posting! I'm seriously considering reloading my own ammo and for the past 2 weeks I must've watched at least 20 videos. Yours is by far the best one. Thanks again for taking the time to do it
I am new to handloading . I have a friend who has been handloading for years and he is going to walk me through each step. This video has been very helpful.
I really appreciate that you are completely honest about the amount of work involved and the care and attention that must be paid to what you are doing. It is clearly NOT a simple task if you want your reloads to be consistent. Many thanks for the detailed explanation.
Thank you so much for this video. I just inherited my late father's reloading equipment and this video was exactly what I needed to help me know where to pick up where he left off. Excellent job, keep up the good work.
I have to applaud you, Ed. I am new to reloading and watching videos to get an idea of how to do everything and you are the first video to stress the important of having g a reloading book. Again thank you for stressing being safe.
Great video from start to finish. I'm looking at starting to reload my own here in the near future thanks to a picky Savage FCP I recently purchased. It only likes 168 Sierras and they're tough to find at times. Definitely time well spent as your video basically "breaks the ice" about what reloading entails. Thank you for taking the time to make this video, I'm sure it will help get a lot more people over that hump of asking the question, "can I really do this?" Two thumbs up.
nicely done bro, your attention to detail is commendable regardless of the investment of time, i have been reloading for just over a year now and my OCD has been an asset to my shooting ability and to this day no faulty rounds or problems of any kind. keep up the good work.....
Thank you Ed! I'm new to reloading and have seen a few videos on .308 specifically. Your videos have been the easiest to follow and learn from! Much appreciated sir!!
Ive been considering getting into reloading for a couple years now, and i would have already if it werent for primers being unobtainium. Ive watched many videos on reloading but this is by far the best ive seen. Breaks it down with simple tools and shows just how easy it really is if you take your time. Many of the other videos on it made it seem very overwhelming to learn but you gave me confidence to get started once/if primers become available again. Thanks a lot man, great job.
I wish that when I started Reloading in the late 70's, We had CZcams, all we did for hours on end is read all Manuals Gun Magazine Articles etc boring , But that was it back then now its like a refresher course in school , Love it & guys like Big ED sharing his knowledge etc
Great video. Thank you for taking the time to help us out. I'm brand-new to reloading. I deprimed 3,000+ cases of 38/357/9mm/44/308, etc. this week. Next I'll tumble. Actual reloading is still on the horizon. Thanks.
I enjoyed your video and thought this a very good review prior to re-setting up my reloading bench. I moved a few years ago and have not reloaded since my presses and tools are in storage. I got tired of buying expensive rounds which don't perform nearly as well as hand loads. Ready to load now! Thanks!
@6:04 when the video goes dark for a few seconds, I thought the dude didn't make it and his family posted this as a educational tool🙄😔. Glad you made it and great video, right to the point with all that info. Thanks. Lol
Very nice video.thanks for taking the time to make it..learned quite a few things from it . I also reload and find that making my own case lube from an alcohol/lanolin mix has made my life a lot easier. Keep up the great vids !
I love the tray idea. I just accidentally found that out a week before this video. I take S&B plastic trays from their ammo box (they come in two 25 round sections) and duct take them on top of each other and have nifty 25 round 308 holders (I go nose down into those).
i will be starting to do reloading & i am going into it informed.... ill be getting single stage thanks to your example, demonstrations & instructions. thanks again.
thanks for this. I was worried about getting a 308 as the ammo is very expensive in Australia. but it reloading is this simple. it makes it much more affordable.
just a quick tip, ace hardware sells a tweezers with a light on it that works mint for picking up those little primers, I have big fingers and to manipulate those tiny primers is a pain. Nice vid
I like your set up, Almost identical to mine. I also use the powder charge, but I use my RCBS electric trickle. I dump then hit trickle and by the time I have seated my last round, the trickle is done. it works for me, I also have a couple of beam scales in case we ever lose power or experience an EMP lol I like Varga and IMR but prefer Varga if it is available. Also I use Large rifle magnum when using spherical powder, (2803 on the guage 6' from the barrel) (2793 using Large Rifle CCI 200). Don't care for the Mag primers using ball powder. I only use a max of half turn on the crimp but my RR LAR8 slams hard. My buddy uses Mag Primers for all his rounds, swears by them, but he is more of a Kentucky wind-age shooter. I like to stick with the numbers. Gotta be prepared for everything. lol Great video. Thanks for posting.
Great video! Been shooting Federal GM2 175gr for years out my 700. Got a 2 inch, 3 round group at 300y today which is amazing. It's great factory ammo but definitely burning a hole in my pocket. Time to reload!
'Like the i4064 for .308 (Ol' Blue) for 125gn to 200gn. and for .223 52gn to 77gn. It is smart to buy in bulk since the mixture can vary from lot to lot if you buy only in pounds. Find your powder and buy bulk. I think 4064 4320 and 4895 are some of the oldest recipes. still reliable, highly accurate, nice choice.
I reload 308 win from 125 grain up to 180 grain. I shoot a m77 ruger hawkeye. I really like w748 for the 125grain, varget for the 150 to 165 grain, and benchmark for my 180 grain. good video.
When I started reloading 308 I followed manufacturers recommended se up of the resize die I found the cases were being sized way below sammi specs then I found the Redding competition shell holders and instant indicator so now my cases are only sized just a little at a time to get the fit I want
most of us have started putting the cases in a bowl. Cover with either a lid or hand (depending on size of bowl), and then stirring the cases. Better case lubing with less effort, and no need to repeat. I do have a question, Why didn't you like the hand priming?????? i love mine.
I have 5 books. Different ages, and different publication dates, but ALL valuable for differences in max loads, and differences in cartridges covered, as well as new information not available previously. Don't forget the internet, BUT having your own books is important.
Ive got a 5 gallon bucket about 4 gallons or 4.5 full of .308 brass and some or mostly 7.62x51. I don't feel like reloading for the money it takes too get into it i can just keep ordering premium ammo.
Thank you for a down to earth reloading video without the testosterone-infused headbanger anthem intro and flashy titles. Your style and substance is very good and communication very effective. Also, thanks for not opening with the hackneyed, obligatory "what's up You Tube" salutation. You really moved the ball down the field for me on reloading .308!
Which are my options if I primed a lot of cleaned and sized brass and now I need to resize them again to bump the shoulder a bit so they can fit in my bolt rifle.
Big Ed, I am just now researching the loading of necked case rounds now and found your video very demystifying. Thanks for taking the time to film, edit and share. Also, judging by your accent and mention of Long Island....might want to delete that and talk with a southern accent in new videos...your guvna might send out the storm troopers if you discovers you are feeding a 700. :)
I got a bad of 308 brass today, around 450 cases for $10 and it was all good minus one case that was berdan primered, i was pissed when it broke my decapping pin lol
hi Ed - great video thanks a lot for sharing. 9 years later it's still a hit! i was wondering what you do with the grain markings after shooting the rounds ... do you keep track of your MOAs/groupings for each grain count to determine the best performance on your rifle over time? or what else do you use this for? thanks again :) great informative video
Great gear (RCBS), your methods and routine are nearly identical to mine. But mine are better... hahahahaaa just kidding. Really tho, it's like I went through a session with you. Glad I stocked up on Varget!
144 grains of Varget! lol I think you were mixing your thoughts between bullet weight and powder. Good video though. I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it !! Thanks for posting!!
Thanks for the video I was debating on the Rock Chucker Supreme Press or the Frankford Arsenal M-Press Coaxial after watching how well it handled going with the RCBS
I seen some reloads that jammed because the primer was not seated good. I have not seen it but the primer is not seated it sticks out and can be hit going into the chamber.
The book data is only a guide...as you stated not all chambers are the same...when you shoot past 600 yds seating depth from brass to lands becomes very critical...if you noticed in my 7mm 08 video...the seating depth from .050 to .030 " from the lands changed the elevation of the placed shot...the published book length takes into account the average seating depth for FACTORY out of the box barrels....once fired then use the neck sizing dies for the next 4 to 5 shots...dedicating the brass to one gun is something people forget to take into account...Keep up the testing and wait until you get to your 1st 1,000 yds...you'll never stop smiling
Big ED NO NO NO ...A windy day is what you need...look at the flag in our videos ...5 to 15 mph winds...that's when you actually learn about Trajectory and velocity...and every bullet and calibre seats differently...that's why I fit each bullet into the chamber before going out to the range...nothing will tick you off than a bullet that will not fit...let us know how your first 1,000 HIT felt...good luck
This is one of the best and clearest 308 reloading videos i've seen. Nice clear voice. Good angles. Very clear steps.
Thank you hope it helps you.
Your a natural teacher. Good job.
Thank you Glen.
Thank you for posting! I'm seriously considering reloading my own ammo and for the past 2 weeks I must've watched at least 20 videos. Yours is by far the best one. Thanks again for taking the time to do it
Thank you, I'm glad this helped.

Start with some lower power straight wall revolver rounds, also check out my other reloading video's.

You're welcome RC glad I could help.
One of the best videos for me, a beginner who wants to improve accuracy through hand loading!
Great job Ed , very good video for those starting out & we who have been re-loading a few days ! YES we old dogs are always teachable ! ! !
GOOD JOB !
Great video! Want to start reloading for my .308 and my sons .25-06, you totally simplified it for me. Thanks for posting this.
+cmoran80 no problem, check out my case trimming video, Its the lastest one.
I DO agree with you about accurate loads. Progressive presses are the "cat's meow", but single stage is the way to go for uniformity and accuracy.
Thank you so much for this video. I just inherited my late father's reloading equipment and this video was exactly what I needed to help me know where to pick up where he left off. Excellent job, keep up the good work.
eaglpaul1 Thank you I'm also editing a video fore 357 mag.
Just bought a 308 and want to get into reloading soon. Video helped make sense of things , thanks

You got it glad I could help.
I’ve saved at least 500 casing from my .308, I’m going to start piecing together everything to start reloading. Thank you.
Your welcome Glad my video helped.
I've been reloading for a number of years , including 308, but learned a couple of new things here. Thanks, man!
No problem glad I could help.
Thanks for the comprehensive video of "How TO" reload. Please keep them coming!
Will do, I've got a few cooking right now.
Appreciate you taking the time Ed.

Thanks a million!!

@@biged7175 Yes, it was! Next step, Frankford Arsenal Rotary Tumbler with steel media!
I enjoyed your video and thought this a very good review prior to re-setting up my reloading bench. I moved a few years ago and have not reloaded since my presses and tools are in storage. +starshooter1003 No problem
Been reloading 308's for the Armalite for several years now, definitely picked up some helpful tips. Thanks!
You got it.
Good video mate, thanks for taking the time +1
No problem, in the next few months I will be doing a .357 mag video.
@6:04 when the video goes dark for a few seconds, I thought the dude didn't make it and his family posted this as a educational tool🙄😔.
Glad you made it and great video, right to the point with all that info. Thanks. Lol
Kinda funny lol
Excellent Instructions! No wasted time at all. Interesting teacher. This is a perfect video!
Thank you glad my video helped you.
Thanks Big Ed for the video. I’m going to start marking my case with a sharpie like you did. Great tips.
Your welcome Gary.
Great video, thank you for your time. I know this video is old, which doesn't matter to me. It's content, and your was great. TY again
Your welcome TBones, age does not matter to much with fire arms content.
Very nice video.thanks for taking the time to make it..learned quite a few things from it . I also reload and find that making my own case lube from an alcohol/lanolin mix has made my life a lot easier. Keep up the great vids !
Thank you will do.
How much do you save on reloading per a box?
Reloading 308 win you can save 60-70% per round
The more expensive that round the more you can save.
Superb instruction video, well done. Easy to follow step by step with a film star sounding voice too!
Thank you!
This video was a great help, thanks!
Your welcome glad I could help.
Hey, quick tip, i use a baking sheet to roll around the cases with lube and no waste
Thank you for the video. I'm not as intimidated. I will start reloading tomorrow!
Good stuff.
I love the tray idea. I just accidentally found that out a week before this video. I take S&B plastic trays from their ammo box (they come in two 25 round sections) and duct take them on top of each other and have nifty 25 round 308 holders (I go nose down into those).
Excellent information. I'm just now learning about reloading and you made a great reloading video that clearly explains the basics.
Thank you.
Your welcome and glad I could help.
Lee is the best book I have out of every reloading book I could find online. LEE is the best go to book.
Johnny Davis Jr It's a very fine reloading manual along with manufacturers infomation
Thank you for keeping it simple. Very informative but understandable for a regular Joe!
Your welcome.
i will be starting to do reloading & i am going into it informed.... ill be getting single stage thanks to your example, demonstrations & instructions. thanks again.
HE DP no problem a single stage is the best, you will learn and make anything on it.
thanks for this. I was worried about getting a 308 as the ammo is very expensive in Australia. but it reloading is this simple. it makes it much more affordable.
+Curtis de la Harpe Yes you will sell allot of money reloading.
Hi, Thanks for the video. I like the way you present the information and I have learned a lot.
amazing video man.
Wasn’t sure I wanted to get into loading my own rounds but this definitely helped make my decision.
The youtube audience consider some of my reloading video the best, search my channel I have many.

Ilove IMR 4064 & imr 3031 also, Ust them in my Rem 22/250 with any Bullets between 50-55 Grs on Coyotes, Woodchucks Very Accurate Powders etc.
Great video for someone who wants to get into rifle reloading. Thanks for the great detail.
awesome video. i reload exactly same way for accuracy
Nice work 🙌
Much a obliged ...... thankyou for your time. I learned a lot.

Excellent video! Long time pistol reloader just starting to reload for rifle. I have the same set up.....RCBS for rifle.
Thank you, I'm gonna need to get in front of my press soon for more 10mm, also .308's by christmas.
When I started reloading 308 I followed manufacturers recommended se up of the resize die I found the cases were being sized way below sammi specs then I found the Redding competition shell holders and instant indicator so now my cases are only sized just a little at a time to get the fit I want
That's good to know thank you.
most of us have started putting the cases in a bowl.
It’s 2020 and I’m jealous to see so much 4064.......
I know I'm really glad with C19 and the election results I've stocked up.
I got incredible groupings with the 175 match Kings. Definitely a good bullet.
Both the 168 and 175 are hard to beat.
Your welcome, glad I could help.
Which are my options if I primed a lot of cleaned and sized brass and now I need to resize them again to bump the shoulder a bit so they can fit in my bolt rifle.
Hey Ed, at 10:20 you mentioned a flash hole deburr machine. I just use a torch tip cleaner, alot cheeper. Great shows man!
I also have a little RCBS hand tool that $5 that works great.
+flysubcompact LOL a property owner where I shoot always says the Guvna is gonna send out the helicopters looking for me.
He might be in prison himself, soon, I hear...we can only hope. Regardless, good work with the videos.
From 2020 this is useful
Glad I could help.
Thank you for the video, was very helpful to me
Your welcome.
I got a bad of 308 brass today, around 450 cases for $10 and it was all good minus one case that was berdan primered, i was pissed when it broke my decapping pin lol
Josue Guzman thats cheap.
Thank you for the instruction. I think I can do this now. Great video.
Scott Milam Thank you I will keep them coming!
Big Ed thank you for helpful video
Your welcome.
Put a dryer sheet into the tumbler, it helps clean the medium. God video.
Thank you I will give it a try.
Thanks Ed! Great video, very informative.
Your welcome Lance!
great vid dude!!
Very helpful video. Thanks
Your welcome.
Thank you!
Thumbs up and subbed. Very informative for a new reloader here, thanks for the video!
Thank you for subbing!
hi Ed - great video thanks a lot for sharing.
You overlooked checking case length and trimming them to length.
I have a whole other video on case trimming.
TFW you can date a video based on them talking about Dick's selling hunting supplies
and $35 for a box of 20 rounds...Now its almost double that.
144 grains of Varget! lol I think you were mixing your thoughts between bullet weight and powder. Good video though. I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it !! Thanks for posting!!
Your welcome.
Thanks for the video
I was debating on the Rock Chucker Supreme Press or the Frankford Arsenal M-Press Coaxial after watching how well it handled going with the RCBS
Glad I could help Enrique.
Thank you for the upload. Greetings from Brazil!
👍 you will see a difference if you do brother! Happy shooting and loading!
Nice video, good work, from Sweden.
Thanks Lars I just order to Mora knives for friends of mine "Langendal"
Very informative video. Thanx for posting
+Dmitry Guydash No problem check out my newest video on case trimming 308
yes I think so I just didn't see no cam over on the die and she'll holder it's all good we are all here learning and helping each other
I seen some reloads that jammed because the primer was not seated good. I have not seen it but the primer is not seated it sticks out and can be hit going into the chamber.
I speak about that in my video's primers need to be properly seated.
Great upload!
Duck Slayer thank you.

This week I'm heading out to 575 yards and I also have a spot for 1000 now, but I want a calm sunny day. for that.
I seat my 308's to max length, I beleave 2.80" I use the Wyatt Detacable mag system and love it, so I need them to feed from the mag.
Big ED NO NO NO ...A windy day is what you need...look at the flag in our videos ...5 to 15 mph winds...that's when you actually learn about Trajectory and velocity...and every bullet and calibre seats differently...that's why I fit each bullet into the chamber before going out to the range...nothing will tick you off than a bullet that will not fit...let us know how your first 1,000 HIT felt...good luck
niteriderwm Once I get my first few 1,000 yard hits then I won't mind shooting in a little wind.
