Bricked DME ? Transmission Flash Failed. Bootmod3 BMW M4 F82 / F80 / F83 S55 (this might help ! )

I use BM3 and I updated my tune and it updated with no problem. When I went to flash my transmission it failed and kept failing. Turns out I had to connect my Battery charger to the battery directly instead of using the terminals under the hood.
I made this video because it could be a common problem. I did find a few online posts about it but the solution was never updated. So here’s my experience and what I did.
Shout out to BM3 tech support they helped out a lot and replied quick! ( within 30mins ). They did help a lot in pointing me in the right direction when I already thought I bricked the DME.
Hope this helps anyone with this experience out!
I also forgot to mention that I disconnected my battery for 10 minutes. Before connecting the battery charger directly to it.

I had the same issue I was charging from the back and error code I was using wifi on my f80 m3 same tune gts transmission flash it error code came up so I tried again same thing it put my transmission into same thing I couldn’t do anything turned car of and on same thing so I flashed too the stock transmission DCT it didn’t work … I shut the car off then I thought let me reset my iPhone might help so I did that then I went through the process again I reflash the stock tune DCT and uploaded it waited it went through then my transmission was back to normal took it for a drive no issues . I think that by using the wifi ecu with the iPhone 15 pro max using the bootmod3 app might have run into some type of disconnection issues during the flash . I will not be flashing that tune again it was very scary leaving stock DCT fuck it !
Yeah I’m wired. I don’t use WiFi. But it is scary. The car basically just had neutral.

I didn’t disconnect mine. You could though to reset everything. But you can just leave it on & charging.

Not really sure how the MHD tuning works but if it’s similar I would reset everything let the car go into its “ sleep “ stage then put the car on a battery charger to maintain voltage and try again. I had the same problem where the car wouldn’t move. I’ve talked to a few other people about this problem not sure if it’s true or not but my guess is that the transmission tune is sensitive to voltage change.
Also maybe try flashing back to stock the back to GTS
Apparently my 2018 s55 dme is locked when I try to flash it with mhd.. crazy annoying
I believe 2018+ DMEs are locked and you have to bench unlock them. Which would be removing your DME & sending to a shop that can unlock it.

Try charging your battery for a bit. I had a convo with the support team over at BM3 and It seems like the trans flash is really sensitive to voltage. It took me a while and a few trys but it worked. Very weird issue.
