    My sincere compliments on an excellent DIY for S55 DME removal and replacement. This is truly one of the best DIY videos that I've ever watched, and I've watched many. This video should be the go-to reference for this procedure. Thank you.

    Very nice video. You did great capturing good clean video and audio. Nailed all the details of the process quickly too. I’d have to say that this video was a hidden gem 💎 for me. I had been looking for a week for a intake manifold/plenum video. I have to put everything back together and I didn’t make these top end disconnections or removals. I did pull the engine and transmission for a rebuild. Needed to see this. What goes over, under, and on the manifold. Took a ton of pictures. Thank you for the torque specs and for giving the complete process of putting it back in too.

    As a locksmith, I have to access DME all the time. Can you tell me what years this particular procedure might cover? What year is this vehicle in the video? I've been fortunate in that MOST DME have been located where I can access them without major work. Also, it helps that I can plug into most of them without removing them.

    Can’t get that connector on the dme at the very back. For me to slide the lock out the way I need to be able to grab it from both sides and I have no space to put my fingers down there. Idk how to get it out pls help.

    • @FaRKle0079
      @FaRKle0079  Před 3 měsíci

      Use a right angle pick or flat head screw driver to try and pry on each side/tab of the slide lock. You'll have to work on each side a little at a time... Once you crack the slide lock open a bit, it's much easier, but the whole thing isn't easy for sure.

    • @FaRKle0079
      @FaRKle0079  Před rokem +1

      There's no need to disconnect the intercooler and drain it. The hoses on it have enough flex for you to position it out of the way.

      Buildup in a direct injected car is highly dependent on how you drive the car. Drive it hard more often and it will stay a lot cleaner.

    Did you have any issues with mileage not matching between various computers on the car? Did you have to sync anything that I've heard has to happen for any sort of odometer tampering to go away? Lastly, I didn't watch the full thing, but that looked fairly involved to swap DME, how many hours?

    • @FaRKle0079
      @FaRKle0079  Před 3 lety

      I didn't have any issues with mileage in the DME not matching. It sync'd right up automatically after reading it from either the cluster or FEM the first time I turned it on.
      It took me quite a few hours for this video because of filming every step. Without that I can probably get a complete swap done in 3hrs.

    • @abels.6745
      @abels.6745 Před 3 lety +1

      It all depends how the spare DME was programmed and made for the car more than anything. There are tons of parameters that should be adapted to the car. The biggest mistake that some people do (for any BMW) is to swap in a DME, FEM/CAS, and key set from another car.

    • @FaRKle0079

    I have a totally unrelated question… after ICM and DSC/ABS hydraulic unit replacement, is it required to VO code DME module ? Thanks 😊

    • @FaRKle0079
      @FaRKle0079  Před 3 lety +1

      You shouldn't have to VO code anything if swapping in a replacement DSC/ABS unit. Nothing on the VO (vehicle config) changed. If you're adding a different ABS/DSC module that somehow has a different function than your original car, maybe you'd VO code that, but I haven't heard of that.

      @@FaRKle0079 yes, in my case, I have replaced DCC with ACC option. VO coded FEM, DSC, ICM and couple of other ones but not DME. All modules show green but I feel like there is brake drag which is more evident while going up hill.

    • @FaRKle0079

      Essentially you get a pre-6/2020 DME, bench unlock it, clone it to your car, and swap it in. My friend was able to source some more DMEs and can do it for you (he's sold a few others since).
