    Sing Me to Heaven
    Text by Jane Griner
In my heart's sequestered chambers lie truths stripped of poets' gloss
Words alone are vain and vacant, and my heart is mute
In response to aching silence, memory summons half-heard voices
And my soul finds primal eloquence, and wraps me in song
If you would comfort me, sing me a lullaby
If you would win my heart, sing me a love song
If you would mourn me and bring me to God,
sing me a requiem, sing me to Heaven
Touch in me all love and passion, pain and pleasure
Touch in me grief and comfort, love and passion, pain and pleasure
Sing me a lullaby, a love song, a requiem
Love me, comfort me, bring me to God
Sing me a love song, sing me to Heaven

This song was performed at my friend's funeral by mclane high School... I joined choir the following year and learned this song. We performed it closely to this rendition. Out of all the songs i learned during high school, this is the only one i still remember word for word. Shout out to ms. Sandham (mclane high School 2000-2001)for all the techniques and tips.

I had this song sung at my daughter's funeral service, the words and music touched everyone and I cannot think of a better song to take her to her next journey.

Julie von pelz I'm so sorry for loss. Beautiful choice. My parents have buried a baby, Chandler. Angela a diabetic NICU nurse at age 34. Kenny a plumbing company owner lung cancer at age 32, and our baby sister Janica at age 36.
I've seen my parents go through it and it changes you. But God.
Was there. For them. And He is there obviously for you.

I was listening to this song at almost the same time my favorite music professor passed away. I did not know that he had left us at the time or was going to leave us. Now this song reminds me of him. I listen to it when I miss him. So beautiful and comforting.

This is the best all a cappella singing group I have ever heard in my 68 years. True madrigal style singing in its purest form. I regret that I discovered them after they disbanded. I would have loved to attend one of their concerts.

We read the lyrics from this song at my father's funeral last year. They well describe his life, which was truly "wrapped in song." Music gave him his greatest pleasures. This was a lovely rendition.

This was a beautiful rendition. Daniel Gawthrop is a treasure among todays composers. I had the privilege of meeting him in person, and singing one of his pieces that he wrote for our Cannon Beach Chorus’s 30th Anniversary. He is a treasure. We are singing “Sing Me to Heaven” at our Spring Concert in April, 2020, along with 2 other of his pieces.

This is one of the best recordings I've heard of this song. I've loved it since I sang it in high school, and I was sad that I never got to sing it during my years in The Concordia Choir. Simply beautiful. You've reminded me why I loved music so much and inspired me to get more of it back into my life. THANK YOU.

Beeeaautifull singers, a lovely rendition, but pleeeeease don't surge (scoop? - so annoyingly British - on to your notes. Hit 'em where they belong.

    • @joshandallo2170
      @joshandallo2170 Před 4 lety

hughvane Surge and scoop are a little different; surge is more of a sudden crescendo, and scoop is coming a little under the pitch to hit it. I agree that scooping has its place, but it shouldn’t be discounted. Scooping is also a must in gospel music.

My score has clear f-naturals written in on silence/summons and voices--what I hear and way more effective than an f-sharp becuase it allows for a chromatic line.
