- Maurice Duruflé: Ubi Caritas
Performed by Octarium from the Essentials album
Krista Lang Blackwood, artistic director
Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est.
Where charity and love are, God is there.
Congregavit nos in unum Christi amor.
Christ's love has gathered us into one.
Exultemus, et in ipso iucundemur.
Let us rejoice and be pleased in Him.
Timeamus, et amemus Deum vivum.
Let us fear, and let us love the living God.
Et ex corde diligamus nos sincero.
And may we love each other with a sincere heart.
These images are amazing, aptly and beautifully accompanied by Duruflé music. Exactly what the entire world, especially world leaders, should see and listen to. ☮️🕊️❤
Where charity and love are, God is there
Christ's love has gathered us into one
Let us rejoice and be pleased in Him
Let us fear, and let us love the living God
And may we love each other with a sincere heart
As we are gathered into one body
Beware, lest we be divided in mind
Let evil impulses stop let controversy cease
And may Christ our God be in our midst
And may we with the saints also
See Thy face in glory O Christ our God
The joy that is immense and good
Unto the ages through infinite ages
This has become so important, urgently necessary, highly essential nowadays
Whoever put these images together with this EXQUISITE choral music had the TRUE revelation! :-)
+Onno man Yes, JESUS inspired this beautiful choral anthem, and His Holy Spirit resonatesthroughout the choral arrangement....He is our peace, and the Prince of Peace! AMEN.
Charity Dell: A lovely comment. It is a deeply spiritual work.
So many ways to love, dissolve hate and break through...
The series of video images eloquently "incarnate" the message of divine peace that breathes through Durufle's setting of the Latin text.....
Beautifully sung. Thank you!

Thank you so much for the text and translation. Such a rich and meaningful tapestry of words.
One of my favorite pieces to sing, haunting.
Le coeur chante lorsque la main ...offre ! , et danse la Vie ! ! !
....so beautiful... thank you.
The picture at 2:14 says it all!
You are so right!
Always does… the rich and elite are always the real enemy…
Simply EXQUISITE!
I know Krista! We used to sing together eons ago in Ft. Worth!! Bravi!! Beautiful!!!!
Magnífico!
Beautiful 🙏🏻❤️
Wundervoll
I thought Ola Gjeilo wrote this. I guess I was wrong! He does do a very moving version of it, though. About 50% is taken from Duruflé, no more.
I believe Gjeilo's 'Ubi Caritas' is not based on the Gregorian chant with this text, but on a tune by himself that has a 'gregorian feel' to it. He was indeed inspired by Duruflé, but invented his own chant for the text, and built the composition on it.
Today, several countries with barbaric totalitarian practices give religion such a very bad name... Durufle’s Ubi Caritas, the arrangement and the photos tbh fit well together and do create a world with Liberty, peace, proper justice and no more hate...
esta bien
If you knew the translation how could you possibly downvote???????
THANK YOU!
Probably because of the performance and not the song-- it feels like it was edited in post-processing to turn up the high frequencies and make the low frequencies disappear. It's strangely balanced and not in a good way.
