  • Lightweight and aerodynamics used to be completely separate traits in bikes, but over the last five years these two different types of bikes have converged. The new Wilier Filante SLR Disc demonstrates this perfectly. Check out our first look!

Awesome bike! Seems like bike brands going to combine lightweight + aero to make one bike to rule them all example SL7

I do struggle with £10k for a bike. It looks lovely, but, £10k? Come on. I could buy a great bike for a third of that and spend £6k on enjoying riding it somewhere cool and a drone and a GoPro to record my fun...

Me too especially when the frame cost £200 from the Chinese factory. Italian paint is very expensive! 😉

Exactly! Will it make you 5 times faster than a £2K bike?? It's a nice bike, but is it really worth £10k??

I’m still struggling to see the difference between this and the Cento (apart from slightly rounder tubing). Which is meant to be more aero, for example? Guess that, as usual, we’ll be waiting for the more affordable versions. Who spends these near 5 figure sums? Seriously, how many do they sell, genuinely interested.

It's getting harder to make up the marketing BS now, clearly bikes reached the frame design pinnacle a couple of years ago. Unless a whole new material is developed, keep your 2 year old bike and save your $10k for a motorbike.

If you want to build the perfect bike. It would be foolish to expect a different result every time you try. If all your attempts converge it is a good sign.

Think of it like a violin. There is actually a best shape for acoustic resonance. Low end models of violins and bows are all over the place with experimentation in shapes, materials, and build. When you get to the high level master crafted instruments or bows, the variations fall away and there things seem quit consistent.

Shallower angles with sharp cut-off (kamm tail) leaves a smaller wake and less drag. Science, bro.
