  • Back training is super important, however since moving from a public gym to training at home, I've really missed being able to do dedicated close grip work. Today we take a look at this landmine handle from Rogue to see if it's a worthwhile pick up.

      Which elite one did you get ? I thought about a plate loaded elite/williams lat pulldown but ended up going with Williams signature selectorized lat low row. extremly impressed, im sure that the other models are pretty based on my experience. More versatile than the rhino,...only power rack and dbs are more versatile. lower cable adds a ton of versatility. I dont know if elitefts has alot of models for the plate loaded but williams who makes the elite stuff (not bars though) has 3 plate loaded and 3 pin select.

    Thorough review Brandon. I had that landmine attachment (standard grip) but sold after 1 use.
    Personally, I didn't like how much real-estate it takes up on the collar, and also how 'tall' this item is. Shorter individuals like myself don't get as much of a range of motion, (as opposed to a traditional V-Handle cable attachment behind the collar.)
    I definitely agree the quality can't be beat for $62 bucks or so - it's a tank. I just prefer the tried and true $15 V- Handle with a beater bar.

    Could never get T-bar rows to feel good at all, no matter what technique, it just feels awkward to me. But it's good for most people.

      Yeah I'm the same, for that I think close grip works so much better!

      Just use your hands on the bar ,also do it one handed standing facing the bar and grip the end of the bar and then one handed between between the legs. T bar rows and wide grip never did anything for me and my upper back looks dame good. And I'm 60 and have tried everything.

    This is the only piece of Rogue equipment that I regret buying. Because I prefer strict pendlay rows over landmine rows. The more upright position of the landmine row seems to build more traps with less of a focus on overall back and posterior chain. With the more upright position you have to use more weight to make it challenging, which creates more axial loading and fatigue.
    For stimulus to fatigue ratio, I think the pendlay row is a better bet for building the back and deadlift. But for those who like the attachment, let me know if you’d like to buy a second one. :)

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  Před 4 lety +1

      I do like pendlay rows as well, but given my height find they work the best off slightly elevated straps!

      @@BasementBrandon Oh boo hoo, poor Brandon is so tall, us shorties feel so bad for you. ;-) I hear you man, makes sense. I decided to try the landmines yesterday after not having done them for months. I'm going to do them for a while instead of the rows because: 1) I think the pronated grip will help alleviate some elbow tendonitis I sometimes feel when I do a lot of pendlays. 2) I'm curious to see what differences I feel between the movements. It seems to me that landmine rows are more fatiguing on the lower back but that may be just the stance I took or perhaps because I simply haven't done the movement in a long time. Cheers Brandon!
