I lived in KK as a kid. The sabahans are one of the most amazing people I would say in the whole of Malaysia. The kids were so friendly and thankful that you got them the cendols. Takes 3 flights from Aberdeen to KK but we’ll worth it. Been 3 times now. Love staying at the Marriott and Sutera Harbour Marina. The locals are so friendly with no scammers anywhere.

Sabah in a lot of ways is like the Scotland of Malaysia. It has its own ethnicities and native language outside of the rest of Malaysia. Although Malay is still widely spoken like how Scots can speak English (although both Sabahans and Scots have their unique accents). Both rich in natural resources. Both very sparsely populated. Both have pretty vistas. I’m always amused at comparing the UK to Malaysia, West Malaysia is like England and East Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak) are like Scotland, Wales, Nothern Ireland…
I love this channel because there are such wild cultural cross-overs! Thank you for this comment. A lot of the world is not really aware of the difference of Borneo region from general Malaysia (associated mostly with Penang, Malacca, KL, etc.). Also today I learned local Sabah people are called Sabahans :)

Maybe for your next visit to Sabah, try the local foods. Theres a few restaurants specialized in local foods at Kota Kinabalu. And its quite popular as well. It just that, its not the type that getting sold at a night market or stalls at Kota Kinabalu. Thank you brother for the vlogs.
Yes sure. I really loved the Hinava (raw fish fillet cooked with lime) and Ikan Liking (dried queenfish-very strong taste and smell) or basic Ikan masin (dried herring). And theres a lot more for example, tuhau (made from wild local ginger) and bosou (usually fermented vegetables or fish). Plus the local alcohol for example tapai (fermented rice). This only a few I can think of right now, but that should cover the basic foods.
Brunei used to be big like Peninsular Malaysia, occupying the entirety of present-day Sarawak. The Sultan gave a small piece of land in the southern part to James Brooke. It was a small area which was expanded by him, leading to the shrinking of Brunei.
The Sultan did not gave all Sarawak to James Brooke. He basically sold Sarawak to James Brooke with prices. James Brooke was not a colonizer according to history because he actually buy Sarawak from Sultan, not stealing Sarawak. You can learn this in Form 1 and 2 history subjects

One good trait about Dale is he knows how to spend his money and who to spend his money on. Im sure those kids were happy that u bought drinks for them. At the end of the day, as long as everyone is happy, then all is well. I binge watch plenty of your travels especially in India. Never boring and u know how to capture viewers attention. Sabah in a lot of ways is like the Scotland of Malaysia. It has its own ethnicities and native language outside of the rest of Malaysia. Although Malay is still widely spoken like how Scots can speak English (although both Sabahans and Scots have their unique accents). Both rich in natural resources. Both very sparsely populated. Both have pretty vistas. I’m always amused at comparing the UK to Malaysia, West Malaysia is like England and East Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak) are like Scotland, Wales, Nothern Ireland…
I love this channel because there are such wild cultural cross-overs! Thank you for this comment. A lot of the world is not really aware of the difference of Borneo region from general Malaysia (associated mostly with Penang, Malacca, KL, etc.). Also today I learned local Sabah people are called Sabahans :)

Maybe for your next visit to Sabah, try the local foods. Theres a few restaurants specialized in local foods at Kota Kinabalu. And its quite popular as well. It just that, its not the type that getting sold at a night market or stalls at Kota Kinabalu. Thank you brother for the vlogs.

Yes sure. I really loved the Hinava (raw fish fillet cooked with lime) and Ikan Liking (dried queenfish-very strong taste and smell) or basic Ikan masin (dried herring). And theres a lot more for example, tuhau (made from wild local ginger) and bosou (usually fermented vegetables or fish). Plus the local alcohol for example tapai (fermented rice). This only a few I can think of right now, but that should cover the basic foods.
Idk man, whenever I went to kk I always looked for 2 things: fresh fish dishes, and avocado/avocado shake/juice

Brunei used to be big like Peninsular Malaysia, occupying the entirety of present-day Sarawak. The Sultan gave a small piece of land in the southern part to James Brooke. It was a small area which was expanded by him, leading to the shrinking of Brunei.
The Sultan did not gave all Sarawak to James Brooke. He basically sold Sarawak to James Brooke with prices. James Brooke was not a colonizer according to history because he actually buy Sarawak from Sultan, not stealing Sarawak. You can learn this in Form 1 and 2 history subjects
