    Ign's review is bullshit. Your channels reviews are some of the best on CZcams. In my opinion, this channel reviews are tied with Frequenczy and Wiiviewr. Keep up the great work! So hyped for Friday.

    GameXplain: *actually goes in detail about how the level design and gameplay is enjoyable*
    IGN: IZ' BORING AND AWFUL GAME 'CUZ 2 EASY 4 HARDCORE GAM3RS. (Seriously, those bias hypocrites dissed this game pretty badly, saying nobody over 12 would have any reason to play it, with little to no backup on their claims)

      Right, Kirby has never been about the difficulty, it's always been about relaxing and enjoying the ride.

    • @jamesreid9284
      @jamesreid9284 Před 10 lety +10

      danvsthevlog The real challenge comes in with 100%-ing a game, or playing the Extra Mode (stronger bosses and you only have half your normal health) or the True Arena (nightmarish bosses).
      I love the True Arena for the extra challenge and the "Soul" bosses exclusive to them. My favorite part of every Kirby game, though, is unlocking the Sound Test, which every Nintendo game altogether should have.
      Relaxing and fun, yes... until one works up the courage to try the above. Marx Soul's death scream still echoes in my head to this day...
      No matter how cute a game's visual style is, HAL has this habit of often having scary enemies and scarier bosses, especially in Extra Mode... shudder

      Not to mention it's not the proper way to review this sort of game. OF COURSE Kirby games are easy. THEY ARE ENTRY LEVEL PLATFORMERS. I mean would you give a Disney movie a low score for not having mature scenes or themes? I mean come on. They're still great films for who they are made for with lots of energy and care. Kirby should be reviewed in the same exact way as far as games are concerned but we don't have these separate categories in gaming. So you have people who are only a fan of a advanced games they deem as hardcore reviewing this. I mean it makes no sense.

      Another funny thing to point out is that IGN rated Kirby Epic Yarn a 9.0. A game where you CAN'T DIE!!

    • @MegaKirbySuperstar
      @MegaKirbySuperstar Před 10 lety +5

      Just seems messed up. Like the only good games are games that meet some idea of being really challenging and "innovative". I mean, if entry level titles can't exist without automatically being bad... than what about a whole group of gamers at that skill level or beginning. I mean... such games can't get made cause they'll be scored bad for being "too easy" of which Kirby does at least offer some good challenges and extra True Arena mode. I mean the reviewer at IGN didn't mention that mode in their KSSU review. I dunno. I just know when it comes to games like this I want to see a review from fans of the games and who are familiar enough with this franchise to know it's deal. Like GameXplain and such. Or even other fan's feedback because... some sites just don't offer enough. I mean if their review every year is going to be "TOO EASY" than forget about it. It's funny cause they really liked Epic Yarn which is by FAR the easiest Kirby game, lol

    • @Luckofthedraw17
      @Luckofthedraw17 Před 10 lety +5

      Yup! Lack of much needed information about the game was missing in IGN's review. Easy is such a vague term, so if they can't explain why with actual evidence, then the reviewer is not credible imo.

      They're so unreliable. I mean if being too easy is a problem, why was Epic Yarn ranked so high? I think they honestly have a bone to pick with Nintendo and "innovation". When Epic Yarn came out, it was so... visually different, they were so quick to be like "SEE NINTENDO YOU CAN MAKE NEW STUFF. SO AMAZING 10/10". Even though it was mostly just visually different... not so much innovative as far as platforming was concerned and it's the easiest Kirby game ever made.

    I can see why you guys dropped the star system, everything from Nintendo is either a 4star or 5star anyway. that being said I do like the star system because I hate decimal scores. You don't get anything out of it. I mean is there really a difference between a 7.0 and a 7.5? The answer is no, it's dumb to score games like that. Anyway I like the change, I think it fits your channel.

    • @steelviper7724
      @steelviper7724 Před 10 lety

      IMO score systems are great in the aspect that they are easy to interpret by a reader but are harder to do by the rater. I've been making game reviews and I hate calling a game bad, but with the way people think about stuff a 5/10 is horrible. I feel as though it represents a neutrality, not too great and not too horrible, but it just looks like a 50% and everyone associates it with failure. I really like the change.

    • @Mangia1432
      @Mangia1432 Před 10 lety

      The reason I prefer the Five star system is because I can usually guess the rating before the end of a review meaning that I have an idea how the reviewer experienced the game. And that's the important part, the actual review not the score. When viewers walk away only remembering the score than the reviewer didn't do a good job, or the viewer is missing the point. I think a lot of websites put too much emphasis on smaller numbers that at the end of the day don't mean anything. And people will debate over the score instead of the game itself. I think a more simple scoring system leaves more room for talking about the games and remembering what the reviewers say about games. Instead of arguing that some game is a 7.5 or a 7. The 1/10 system is fine too, but once decimals are thrown in I can't take it seriously cause it's such a waste of time. If you've never seen any Adam Sessler reviews from Rev3Games I recommend you check them out. See if you can guess the star rating before the end of the video and you will see what I mean. He also did a video talking about why he hates the number system and Metacritic.

    I know score ratings are kinda important to determine if a game is playable or passable, but it doesn't necessarily have to be at that point where you're forced to agreed with others opinions. That said, I'm actually excited for this game even if reviewer sites give it a 7.5/10 or such. It shouldn't matter either way.

It looks really fun, but I've been playing nothing but DK Tropical Freeze, and Yoshi's New Island and am a little burnt out on side scroller platforming for now ~_~ I'll probably rent this after I play Mario Golf for a little while... Great review, by the way! You guys are always amazingly informative! :)

    It's certainly a good idea to ditch the ratings system because that's all people care about: the score. In the end of the day the score is always going to cause arguments so ditching the idea seems fitting.

    This is how to review a game not those so called gamers IGN who review games based on their lack of detailed information and biased opinions scoring games less then what they deserved despite the amount of time and effort gone into making them. Make no wonder many hate IGN and say "you can't spell ignorant without IGN" it just goes to show. Keep up the awesome work GameXplain as you definitely deserve it! :3

I'm a longtime gamer and Nintendo fan, and I wanted to take advantage of the buy 2 get 1 free Best Buy deal by getting Yoshi's Island. From the options available I couldn't decide on the second game (Zelda and Bravely Default would've been the one for me, but my sister already owns those and as I've already played through Zelda, I thought I'd get a new game rather than buying my own copy). I've never played a Kirby game but this looks really fun.

    After watching both IGNs and this review, I can see that this is a good but easy platformer with some nice creativity. Kirby, I like because its just one of those feel good platformers that don't make me rage like Donkey Kong or even Mario at times. I was a bit concerned as I feel that Kirby needs a change to the formula like Zelda did somewhat with A Link Between Worlds. Maybe a more challenging kirby that is more focused on precision platforming like Donkey Kong (but not as hard). I like Kirby games (although not my favorite platformer) and will most likely be picking this one up. :)

    • @The_Admiral_Angel
      @The_Admiral_Angel Před 10 lety +1

      Kirby has always been a casual platformer since the first game on the GB. Though completing the main game is a cake walk, Kirby games do offer some challanges if you're wanting to complete it at 100%.

    • @ZantofDarkness
      @ZantofDarkness Před 10 lety +1

      yeah, thats true. For example in Epic Yarn you can't die but its more of a collectathon than platformer in many ways. I guess something like that I would be more excited for even though this game looks fun.

  • @Soulferno
    @Soulferno Před 10 lety +1

    I really wish other reviewers would follow your example. The fact that you didn't use a rating system and let the review speak for itself is awesome. Somecallmejohnny does this and its the way all reviews should be done. Of course there are those on here who don't think so but they're pretty stupid. Why was I just so mean? Because if you came here just to focus on numbers then you don't deserve to call yourself a gamer. You should be focusing on the actual game not a bunch of stars and ratings that supposedly determine a games worth. It seems even on gamexplain people disappoint me with their lack of common sense:(

    The thing I miss most about Kirby games is the lack of helpers, they were the best part of some of the old games. I also like when certain power ups change kirbies color it made the power ups a little more alive since it didin't just effect his hat all the time.
    Other then missing those things the game looks great and if I had the money to afford it it would be mine day one. I am looking forward to this title when I can.

    • @mimipeahes5848
      @mimipeahes5848 Před 10 lety

      The reason Kirby's not able to change colors is because in multiplayer for RTDL all four players could play as kirby and their color was assigned according to what controller they had. Changing the Kirby's colors with their abilities would make gameplay a mess. The same with helpers. If all four players had a helper it would be impossible to keep track of. (Not to mention that anyone playing as metaknight, dedede or waddle dee wouldn't be able to summon helpers in the first place)

    • @sazhuy
      @sazhuy Před 10 lety

      Well it isn't like helpers could not be in main game but taken out of multiplayer mode. Same with colors for Kirby.

    • @mimipeahes5848
      @mimipeahes5848 Před 10 lety

      Changing the ability designs from one game-mode just seems like a waste of time and would probably just create visual confusion as well as unnecessary contradictions.Why would they spend time developing extra gameplay mechanics on top of the new ones they're trying to add? All it does is clutter gameplay. There are less then 10 abilities that change Kirby's color anyway so it's just not justifiable to spend time on something so inconsequential. And really the same could be said for helpers. Why would they spend time designing and programming helpers for all the new abilities when helpers are the main gameplay quirk of SS and SSU? All it would do is make those games less special. Kirby is easily one of nintendo's most experimental series, I personally think they should focus on coming up with new ideas rather than rehashing old ones.

    • @sazhuy
      @sazhuy Před 10 lety

      There is the notion of how a game feels. Adding in colors made those powers seem unique. It would cause no time to add it into game play because all it is would be a color swap of Kirby. There is more to a game then just it's mechanics or knockoffs would run rampant because the feel would mean nothing.
      Helpers wouldn't be down played in those games. It was a feature that could add in multi-player elements to the main game. There are people who like to co-op games. That was an amazing feature for it since you could use another controller or console to do it.
      Just because something is experimental doesn't mean it can not bring good elements that were used before. That is the reason to experiment is to find out what works so you can implement them again in later titles. No point in always forgetting what was good.
      Even if that isn't what you want that doesn't mean it isn't what others want. It is something I miss but it isn't like I am not going to stop playing the games but it removes something I would love to see again as it makes the game to me feel more alive and inviting.
