    I'm surprised it wasn't Obi-Wan Grievous respected, out of all the encounters we saw on screen Grievous had what felt like friendly banter between Kenobi. We can also argue the General respected Anakin due to his military strategy out of his brief interaction with Skywalker in Episode 3.

      @felixthescholarlytitan4437 Před rokem +168

      I imagine Grievous did respect Obi-Wan and Anakin, but in a different manner then he respected Bink. Obi-Wan was respected as a rival warrior, a challenge to overcome and grow stronger from. Anakin was likely respected as a military leader. Bink however I think was respected as a Jedi, a true representation of their code. In Grievous’s eyes, Bink likely represented everything he had once found admirable about the Jedi and held strong to that way till the very end.

    I like the legends explanation for why Grievous hated Jedi far more. It demonstrates the old Jedi Order's incompetence and hypocrisies, but more importantly, it shows a sympathetic side to him that we never get to see otherwise. A man so utterly broken-hearted by the suffering of his people that he will do anything to inflict vengeance upon the forces that caused it, even if it means robbing himself of almost everything that makes him human, for lack of a better word.

    • @Suhoputnaya_Akula
      @Suhoputnaya_Akula Před rokem +7

      @@michaelbaker197, in cartoon, Grievous left Shaak Ti on Coruscant, and didn't even mutilate her; he simply took away togruta's lightsaber and tied her to the ceiling. Too merciful, considering all the previous events. And considering how Qumaen communicated with Shaak Ti on Coruscant, it seems that he doesn't really want to kill HER (he pronounces the last phrase almost as a flirting). I think if there were no other jedi and chancellor with jedi-togruta, cyborg-kalish would have allowed himself much more freedom of action. It is not surprising that General could have chosen Shaak Ti as a special enemy - to win, but not kill her, in order to get emotional pleasure from the next battle. And pleasure, whether emotional or physical, is very lacking for Qumaen.

    • @phillipwalling7470
      @phillipwalling7470 Před 8 měsíci +2

      @@Suhoputnaya_AkulaI always thought that Grievous tied Shaak-Ti up as a message that coruscant was never a safehouse for the Jedi when even General Grievous himself infiltrates the city unnoticed and captures the chancellor rather easily. And it's pretty clear that he never respected Shaak-ti despite being one of the only Jedi who gave Grievous a hard time in the miniseries.

    • @Suhoputnaya_Akula
      @Suhoputnaya_Akula Před 8 měsíci +2

      @@phillipwalling7470, I just noticed how kaleesh's behavior towards togruta changed in just 2 of their meetings. On Hypori, he tried to kill her, just like the rest of jedi. But on Coruscant, he doesn't even seem to be trying to hurt her much, unlike the other two jedi. Even General's manner of speech is flirtatious or theatrical when he addresses Ti; and given that he has little emotion towards both enemies and allies, he must have reasons for such behavior. Plus, Qumaen has a huge love experience, and before losing his body, he was considered one of the most beautiful kaleesh men, also a kagan (supreme ruler) - wives of Sheelal were really lucky. But now Grievous is a cyborg by 95%, he feels almost nothing physically. Almost all his wives are dead. He is forbidden to fly to Kalee, and to communicate with any representative of his race, even outside of home planet. There are practically no intelligent living beings in his environment; sith do not want to keep him company, and jedi die like flies in the first fight with him. Grievous has become incredibly lonely.
      It was also as if they wanted to introduce an old practice into the animated series: *"Villain/villainess shows a strong interest in heroine/hero or conversely ."* . I had a feeling that between the events on Hypori and Coruscant, Grievous and Shaak met several times, but it remained behind the scenes. Sheelal would realize that he likes the fights with Ti themselves; he finally gets pleasure, albeit emotional and for a short time. This would explain the cyborg's mercy towards togruta at the end of cartoon.

    I'm guessing Dooku never told Grievous who his own sith master was otherwise his interactions with the senate leader Palpatine would have been different? Unless I'm wrong and Greivous was just playing along too well.Obi-wan might have had his doubts , but Dooku gives him the truth on a war that could have been halted. So it still bugs me that the Jedi never bothered to suspect Palpatine after what Dooku had revealed.

      @twelfthbrother559 Před rokem +10

      Remember what they discussed at the end of episode two though, Obi wan questioned if they should consider Dooku's revelation. As what is often his reaction, Yoda never said one way or the other, simply stating the quite true fact that Dooku had fell to the dark side, and so deceit was his nature. Also obvious to us as we know that some things Dooku told Obi-Wan were incorrect, mixed in with truths.

    • @dazaichan9970

      @@twelfthbrother559 even if that is so. Dooku was a former Jedi and quite possibly the only connection to the true mastermind behind Maul's role which the jedi had no idea which role Maul played in the Phantom menace. Even Yoda then states that there is always two " an apprentice and a master." Since Maul was assumed dead and soon later Dooku replaces him, it should have been obvious Dooku was not the master and his telling of the other sith within the senate should have been treated with more seriousness.

    • @twelfthbrother559
      @twelfthbrother559 Před rokem +1

      @@dazaichan9970 that is a good point. One of the things that does shock me (and has actually left me with a disliking of them) about the Jedi was their strong ignorance. In regards to your comment about Dooku's replacement, I would have thought it plain by that point he was not the master, even with the Jedi's lack of vision. however it was not until late into the clone wars TV show that they addressed the possibility of Dooku not being the sith master, but an apprentice. It was either season 5 or 6. To give benefit of the doubt, Dooku hypothetically COULD have been the master to surface. A lot seemed to happen "10 years ago" for whatever reason even though it wasn't seen. This was about the time of the phantom menace movie, and when maul was discovered. This also would have been around the time Dooku split with the Jedi. In the eyes of the Jedi, who is to say that with maul dead, Dooku was the master who surfaced to do it himself? He was after all, the leader of the separatists, a seemingly authoritative position.

    • @phillipwalling7470
      @phillipwalling7470 Před 8 měsíci

      Grievous hated the Jedi for 2 reasons:
      1: In legends, it's because the Jedi sided with the Huk, his species' natural enemies, and afterwards, he thought they blew up the shuttle he was in, even tho it's actually Dooku who set it up. So, he was basically tricked into killing the Jedi for something they never did to him personally, even tho they indeed sided with the Huk in the first place.
      2: In Canon, the Jedi rejected him due to him not being force sensitive. So, he obtains Cybernetics to make up for it and knowing they'll never accept him even with Cybernetics, he kills Jedi instead and joins the CIS for the sole purpose of commiting genocide on the Jedi.
      And a bonus reason is because Grievous is a Warrior at heart, therefore the reason why he respects a few Jedi mentioned here, cause he saw them as legitimate warriors, not cowards relying on the force, which is why he hates the majority of the Jedi, even tho it's also the fact that he ain't force sensitive to start with, which is what the Magnaguards are for.

    Cant lie the legends reason for hating the Jedi should be canon. The canon reason honestly lacks the depth and real reason to hate a whole group.

    George Lucas doesn't want Grievous to be too powerful. Because he's like Vader in every way.

    Annd you’re making shit up again. No, in BOTH timelines, Grievous is an excellent swordsman because he’s intensely trained by Dooku-one of the top 5 swordmasters in galactic history. Dooku is still responsible for what Grievous became in more ways than one in both timelines. San Hill is still the one that had the operation done on him in both timelines. That hasn’t changed.
