Maybe it doesnt matter at max level and super high stats but when ur fighting someone like cordelia at power level 130 weapon choice matters. I had to use a my blacksmither hammet upgraded 3/10 times because it worked so much better my dual surtr and excalibur 8/10. Spears worked great but they dont stun her enough and dane axes stun but theyre too slow (this fight only work great on certain zealots). I just think its cool that's certain weapons do more damage amd work better vs certain enemies so it all depends.

1 dane axe 1 spear. it might not be the best dps build in the game but its for sure one of the most enjoyable. its always 2 of one or the other why not mix it up a little? spear is faster and better for taking out one guy in the main hand while the axe handles groups and shields with the whirlwind attack in the off hand. switch hands and you get a really good heavy dual swing attack the normal dane axe light attack and a stab attack with the spear in the off hand.. it mixes up the gameplay and gives you a range of attacks while still allowing to perie better with the larger weapons. whats the point in being able to swap hands if you use the same weapon type in each hand?? people are like sheep man they heard to the meta the second the see one youtuber go dual spears because it helps them mindlessly button mash? idk its not a race i enjoy the slow burn with the axe tbh

I’m actually a big fan of the Dane axes. I use mine as my off hand weapon with a spear for crowd control as the special whirlwind attack can destroy mobs easily.

I used sepulchre and bone biter against fenrir, the sepulchre ignited on fire after combos and is really good in my oppinion
I use a one handed axe on main and a two handed on off. Looks incredibly dumb, but yeah that crowd control is what does it for me
Combining the Surtr Sword with BlodWulf shield (Ignite weapon on parry) means you have a really strong fire sword constantly! Highly recommend.

You can get a diamond rune that does that too.
Kopis should be A tier, if you’re playing a crit build you honestly can’t die
S tier. You can't die. Literally just dodge then stab stab stab. Health comes in quicker than you lose it.
That ability is on a diamond rune so it can go on any weapon in the game. Throw the health after crit rune on the Yule fest blade that give +30 crit chance for 8 seconds after a kill and it’s a much more lethal weapon imo
Then add briton shield with kopis and you got infinite healing.
I love using Excalibur, it looks cool and i this blindness explosion often helped me to continue the combo before dodging or parrying. And i think it has a lil increased damage to that stab because i felt like i dealt more with Excalibur stab than any other greatsword stab
Get good at parrying. It's so much more satisfying than dodging and leaves them open to stun attacks
And parrying is fairly easy to do too compared to most other games you can parry in, especially souls

Ubisoft probably thought that they had to reduce/nerf the hammer's base stats because they thought the area of effect stun was too powerful.
@@Thor.Jorgensen Definitely agree with that but I find it crazy how a weapon you can find the second you get to england just buy going to Lunden and grabbing the weapon with no risk at all is better then a weapon you need to beat the whole game to get and a bunch of side stuff

You won't even have need of it. It would be nicer if you had some missions to actually use it in, other than the daily tasks.

About dane axes, you should consider SEPULCHER AXE, that set the melee weapons on fire after a critical hit. It makes a huge difference.

I saw the sepulcher Dane axe on there i feel like it’s the better one because like you said you don’t have to be at a certain health or anything like that it ignites just after a crit hit
I personally love the mythical cosmetics of the bone biter, but I prefer the perk of the sepulcher. I always use dane axes in raids because it feels more chaotic and viking-like, although that sounds weird.
I used the sepulcher for a huge portion of the game. I love when it ignites, and it looks great as you walk around England with it.
You can ignite every weapon at anytime once you gain that perk fairly early with adrenaline that comes easy with the right weapons in the right hands. Like a dagger in offhand is auto adrenaline. Making the Sepulchre Axe a waste of a slot.
Sepulcher mythical dane axe in your 2nd hand with the Carolingian pike or Gungnir are great combinations throughout the game. The speed&range of the spear and the unblockable sweeping attack with both weapons together(holding L1) giving you a huge aoe plus the fire it's awesome
I love me some Blacksmiths Hammer, I use it with the Briton shield and I love it.

I used hammer and spear for so long until u got odins spear than realized that double spear Is by far the best combo in the game, even over odin spear and thors hammer combo which sucks. But black Smith hammer and thors hammer combo is absolutely crazy

As a blacksmith myself, I'm just incredibly excited about a blacksmith's hammer being one of the best and most easily accessible weapons in the game.
Rocking a combination of the Carolingian Spear and the Dane axe in my off-hand. The off-hand attack is good for quickly destroying large groups of enemies and elite enemies when they are stunned & the Spear I use for the rest of the enemies. Using the off-hand attack with full stamina has enough duration to kill 1-2 Golliaths or other elites with comparable health.
If you stack bone biter with the Christmas event armour you’ll see a lot more damage and the stun is honestly amazing

Great vid! I do wanna say, I totally agree with the Carolingian Pike and Carolingian longsword rankings. They are my go-to weapons for the game. I use both of them with a shield, for a more historically accurate way of fighting. I only use the Carolingian Pike for facing legendary animals, but the sword is my go-to weapon of choice, as it is basically an oversized Viking sword. And when you get it upgraded to mythic status? Oh, it has a beautiful design!
The dual spears are super OP and mad fun to use as well as dual daggers. Someimes I mix it up and run a spear as my main and hammer as secondary. Very fun. I love the ability where you can swap weapons between hands, really great feature to add some extra excitement and fun ways to fight. I use it a lot. And def not enough love to the dual dane axes. You can make up for some or the speed with perks and runes but the damage is so brutal it doesn't even matter, also insanely easy to parry and lead to a stun.

I roamed around early game sneaking in high level places looting and i fell in love with the fire axe and i leveled up so fast with it
Except for the fact that the Sepulcher Axe can NOT be obtained just from roaming/exploration because the door to the room where the chest you can get it from is located, is blocked off until you are taken there via the main story quests when you have to go after King Burgred...Yes some things you can snag in the early game, but that particular item is not one of them
I've been using Mjolnir and Excalibur as a dual wield. Completely awesome. Especially when you use the dual wield switch technique every once in awhile, you're damned near unstoppable.

Kopis and Hundtoth together are great for keeping health up. Lower health increases crit chance, then crit to restore health. Great for long fights.

I don’t understand the carolingian spear at s tier at all. A 10 bonus to ability damage is really not that important
It depends on what build you are making It can be important for people who want it to be important for example if you use the ability that makes it so there is a poison cloud and you have a rune ability that gives you plus to attack when there is a poison effect then the ability damage increase will be even greater chipping away on your enemies with stun damage so you can make huge hits also works the same with fire if you use the ability fire damage to your spear you're doing fire damage with your spear plus the additional 10 bonus ability points plus the additional ability bonuses you get from the skill tree it will stack the damage like crazy hopefully that helps you understand
How is that spear better then all these spears there no way that has a 148 damage no way whatsoever

you heavily underrated mournful cry. that thing is amazing. it is very easy to do a heavy finisher and the fact that it can easily poison on crits to ppl and leaves a poison cloud affecting other enemy npcs is good too. not to mention the poison cloud is also a bit of a smokescreen. archers can't hit me when im in the middle of my own poison cloud. been loving it and use it without the armor associated with it. 1 major drawback is that you need to be careful w/it on raids cus the poison clouds could easily kill a lot of civlians
Mournful cry has forced me to restart several story missions. Poison also really doesn't deal that much dps unless you're using all the poison runes, which means you are missing out on crit and health runes.
@@alexmo1941 fair enough. it works out fine with my playstyle and once i realised how quickliy the clouds kill off civilians, i have compensated for it and its been no trouble whatsoever. I also have very high crit atm and very high stun.

Playing Surtr Sword with the full set - and with the right runes and skills this sword and set is incredible. I rarely use the skill to ignite my weapon as runes are doing this job for me
You should try surtr sword with blodwulf
Legethas axe and the death's sparth work with eachother for monster damage. Especially with select perks.

You're sleeping on dane axes. Speed is negligible after skills and its truly the best as far as damage per hit.
Plus that stagger element when fighting zealots. I beat most the zealots at power level 40-100 and dane axes are a must for the sword guys! Spears dont stagger them at all and they can counter so easy and kill you in 2 hits. Ironically, spears destroy the axe zealots cuz they're slow and easy to dodge so spear range plus speed makes em easy af when u got god of war valkyrie dodge like skills 😎
@@justchillins1c3l46 Well said! Right now I'm rolling with the Dwarven Axe/Hrafn Guard. You can also use the Fyrd spear. The buff duration/boost to speed on the shield is absolutely nuts. Now you got one highest damage per hit/dps items in the game.
@@tattooedsailor8666 damn, I'm currently running the sepulchre axe in my right hand and the dwarven axe in my other hand. I use all my critical chance runes on the sepulchre axe, and attack runes on the dwarven axe

Recently I've been testing the Surtr sword and its amazing with the Sepulcher axe, I used nearly 9/10 of all my rune slots for Crit Chance upgrades and its almost like my sword is constantly on fire, no need to use Fire Strike ability if I'm critting all the time, try it out guys, its worth the helix credits
Also I found that the Mournful Cry + Thor Hammer is a nice combo
I just love using the flails. It’s the perfect type for me

That extended reach of the Gungnir. Finishers, whether heavy or light, stuns enemies with Mjolnir. That's a big W
Also on Excalibur, you're right about the blinding effect, it's not that effective. However, when it's doing that blinding thing, you really take away a big part of the opponent's life. Like really big. Even they're guarding themselves.
Escalibur is so good if you now how to use it. If you make two light attacks and then and one heavy at the and the blind affect deals a lot of damage and you can do the combo again while they are blinded. I play on very hard and i have destroyed everyone( a lot of bosses too). Except escalibur the others were well ranked. Great video. I also wanted to say that from all the youtubers that played valhalla you are the best.
I like the spear that gives crit chance when surrounded by more than 3 enemies. Paired with the Axe that catches fire on a crit. Awesome combo.

Its also important to remember that whichever weapon you use also depends on your armor set. Ive found Odins Spear and Mjolnir to be quite deadly when used in unison. Most especially when wearing Thor's armor set. Try it out its pretty amazing
Battle sparth is pretty good Dane axe, bonus damage with more enemies is pretty op considering there’s almost always more than 3 enemies surrounding the player at once and when paired with the brigantine armor you’re getting bonus melee and armor when surrounded by more enemies. (Sorry if I spelled anything wrong)
The festival was a joke. I was excited at first until I realized how glitchy and corny it was. Seriously? Its free i get it. Just don't bother if that's what you bring to the table. Its child's play. Please don't continue to waist your time. I didn't even play the content and can't wait till it disappears
I’m just a little surprised they didn’t fix it. Seasonal events are whatever usually, but to introduce it, and to have it be a mess was annoying beyond belief

The fighting pit was fun. As a new player (70 power) it helped me with learning combat as each fighter had a little bit different style. I could eventually beat all 10 guys consistantly for 70 tokens. Got all the prizes quickly. Helped me out greatly in combat situations as I took out a few higher tiered " hidden ones".
The drinking game glitched my character so every time I load in or respawn after dying I’m drunk for at least 3 minutes

Just gonna say spear of Leonidas is a really good weapon it gives a lot of good buffs if you have at least one adrenaline slot filled (witch is pretty much always)
I was wondering why I didn't see that or the Hero's Sword (One handed short sword) on this list. Are those out of a DLC of something I didn't realize I had? Or a limited time event

I use the Briton shield offhand unless trying for more offensive playstyle, the health on parry is amazing. I tend to pair it with either the blacksmith hammer, bone biter, or occasionally something else just when messing around. Honestly before I tried it I was a big fan of heavy shield and Dane axe combo, the animations have wide AoE and the blocking and stunning is great.
Best thing about Valhalla is that you don't have to change weapons often, you can finish the game with weapons that you find very early, they just need upgrades and that's it. For me, the best combo is Yngling Seax and Suttungr's Claw, you can find the first and Norway and the second one as soon as you reach England, which is awesome, I made all enemies look like fools with this combo. Varin's and Housecarl axe is another good combination that you can get early and carry you through the whole game.
I love the golden dane axe, it does a lot of damage when flanking and using shift

Running the carolingian sword and kopis currently and the kopis second hand is amazing literally just hold down L1 until the enemy is dead

Used Dual Spears majority of the early game, hammer/shield mid game, and now I’m using the HouseCarl Axe with the Briton Shield (slotted with fire on parry) or dual daggers
Axe / Shield is just the most consistent damage over the course of a fight.

Well, I'm playing more the dodge style thingy and I think that Housecarl's + Varin's Axe is op, like the special attack takes a lot of damage even to bosses
@@mnasonj1 brush with death with dual spears is a lot of fun. But I started to prefer the defensive play style. Plus hitting 100+ with an axe on occasion and having fire dot is nice.

The way they nerfed great axes in this game is nuts. They were awesome items in Odyssey (polearms), why are they so shit here?
I played the game from the beginning on the hardest difficulty for both stealth and combat, used a shield for like 3 hours than used a dagger in my offhand for the rest of my playthrough, and excalibur mainhand halfway through, never really had a problem and i had a lot of fun.
got tired of using the dual axe build housecarl and varin so i went with aredbhair and fyrd spear combo both are op given the right sets as you have mentioned
I want full capacity in my quiver back.
Go back to Vinland, shoot all your arrows in the air then unequip your bow. Travel back to England and it should be fixed. Worked for me.
@@tortugagalaxy3960 thanks but I’ve tried that and a couple of other recommended solutions with no luck, just need Ubisoft to do the right thing.... send me loads of free store credits for mugging me off, I put a lot of time into that quiver!
@@madripoorpirate4668 Yeah I love this game but hate all of the bugs and times I've had to reload old saves to continue on a quest. Seems solutions are all over for everybody.
My quiver is almost fully upgraded and my max capacity hasn't changed...

I personally thing Gungnir may be the best weapon in the game. But...much like Mjolnir, you get it so late in the game it's...you never really get to use it.

Hammers are neferd, i used the blacksmithshammer and kopis dagger before the update. Now duel dagger: kopis and stungard daggers, this is op with the mento armor set!!!! Put crit runes on the weapons and use a ignitr weapon after crit rune on as major rune! This is OP
I'm still early in game still under power 100 but I'm currently loving Sepulcher axe as main hand and Warhammer in offhand and it is such an effective fun combo.
I’m not a big fan of fire weapons. Always end up setting myself on fire.
Fire-Resistance-Runes are the way to go here... ;-)

I've used the Housecarls's axe, maxed out, with all attack based runes for most of the game and have never stuck with anything else. Love the idea of the Dane axes and swords, but they're just way to slow for my play style.

You're definitely sleeping on the spinning death flail. I can take down 4 enemies at one's with the thing and bigger enemies don't have a chance to attack if you attack first because of the stun it has. Plus using the ability correctly adds a ton of extra damage.
