    Excellent video Shane! I have this lens and it's awesome. Even after owning a half dozen other lenses for both my Sony and Panasonic cameras, I still turn to this focal length when I need one lens only that is flexible and reliable for pretty much anything. I also love the Panasonic 24-105 F4 on my S5 cameras!

    Just discovered your channel when looking into Yolobox. I bought the 24-105 when I bought my A7C and it's just perfect for so many situations that it's my goto lens and always attached and just keep a secondary prime F1.8 in the bag just in case. Great videos mate, a new subscriber.

    Settled on this as my first lens for my backordered FX3. Want something I could use for road trip and travel content and this looks like a winner to start. It’s so tough with all the choices because of the pros and cons to everything. I’m thinking of eventually pairing a Tamron 17-28 2.8 for better wide angle and indoor shots but this should make due for a bit!

      Realistically the only thing Sony has over the Panasonic is the AFC. For that sort of work it's great. There's something a lot more fun about Panasonic cameras in general though especially if you are behind them shooting something else. I still much prefer them overall. I'll be doing a huge road trip in the US all being well for 3 months or so.

    What a good video im thinking of getting this lens soon over the Sony 35mm 1.4 lens because it covers so much more focal length i think its a wonderful lens. One question ive heard its no good for a Gimbal it that because it has image stabilization inside the lens and camera but cant you turn the stabilization off on the lens ? Does that make it impossible to get clean sharp shots? I am no professional just an Amateur Enthusiast . Thanks for the information. RJ. Philadelphia Pa.

I shoot only documentaries and I need only ONE zoom lens. I know the new Tamron is wonderful but maybe could the Sony give me more stabilization? I thank you for your precious news.

      I shoot Panasonic on my guitar channel for all of my main shots. I use a mix of the 24, 35, and 50mm F1.8 S Series of Prime Lenses. When I use the Sony for live streams or other purposes - Sony 35mm f1.8 and 24mm GM are my two main lenses. I also sometimes use the 55mm 1.8 Ziess for the product shots.

    Currently I’ve got the 16-35/4, the 70-200/4 and a couple vintage 50-ish mm’s. So I’m missing that mid range. I’m thinking the 24-105 is going to be my next purchase. I’m also contemplating the sigma 24-70/2.8 but the 24-105 is lighter and it’s got that oss. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️😂😂 thanks for the video Shane!!!

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  Před rokem +1

      The Sigma is a great lens optically, but it's heavy and can suffer from dust issues very quickly. I had it for a day and returned it based on the size. I didn't feel like the 2.8 vs 4.0 was much better for outdoor shooting. Indoors, the 2.8 will be a better choice but the weight is brutal on the Sigma. :)

    • @sportster999
      @sportster999 Před rokem +1

      I can confirm this. The OSS seems to be useless in "standard mode" of the stabilizer which is the only mode available on the A7III. Interestingly no reviewer does report this issue. It seems that most reviewers use the "active mode" of newer Sony cameras for video which effectively disables the OSS and provides some kind of electronic stabilization by cropping the sensor. This is why "active" mode is so much better than "standard mode" on this lens. The OSS seems to be working for stills only.
