Embark on an enthralling woodturning video journey with me as I breathe life into an eruptive masterpiece, seamlessly blending the realms of wood and clear resin art. Witness the captivating transformation of volcanic rock from the 2021 Fagradalsfjall Iceland volcano eruption as it evolves into a meticulously crafted woodturning work of clear resin art.
In this mesmerizing process, I carefully secured the lava rock on a vibrant bed of three resin colors, pre-cured to ensure impeccable color separation. Atop olive ash wood, I captured the fiery hues of lava from the volcanic eruption, encasing it in a deep casting epoxy resin art technique. To achieve a flawless finish, the rock underwent a meticulous journey through a vacuum chamber, eliminating trapped air, followed by a curing process in a pressure pot.
Experience the unexpected challenges as excessive heat generated by the resin led to thermal cracking. Despite my efforts to stabilize the volcanic rock, air infiltrated the final casting. Witness my skillful resolution using UV resin to patch up the ornament. Despite the hurdles faced, the result from the wood lathe is undeniably cool-a testament to the resilience of the creative process.
