Waluigi has been an Assist Trophy since Brawl and everyone is still asking for him to be playable. I don't know who would ask for Ashley as a playable character though.

7:44 - This is a pretty obscure reference to something…maybe from a Japanese animation studio called Studio Comet? Fun fact, they were the cooperation studio who cooperated with Studio Sign in the making of Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, and the SSB creator, Masahiro Sakurai created this anime. And to make the connection even stronger, Studio Comet also made anime based on Sanrio’s IPs, like Jewelpet, and even Onegai My Melody. Maybe that’s the reason why Hello Kitty made a cameo.
Note: Studio Comet also made an Art of Fighting OVA, a Samurai Shodown motion picture, and some Fatal Fury TV specials. Oh, and don’t forget they made an anime based on Dragon Quest, called Legend of the Hero Abel. The respective game franchises have been represented in Smash Bros. Ultimate in some way.
