  • This video is meant to show the potential for the X-Carve Pro to be used as a production machine.
    Nearly every component of this chair was produced on the X-Carve Pro CNC machine from ‪@inventables‬
    This machine is amazing. I have run it through its paces since I have had it and it has performed flawlessly.
    See the links below for more info and also the affiliate links if you are interested in purchasing an X-Carve Pro or a standard X-Carve.
    Both of these models are amazing machines and will provide years of high quality carving. I have had my small X-Carve for several years and it has been a workhorse in my shop with absolutely no issues.

    Thanks so much for watching. As always, I welcome any comments, questions or suggestions.

    I do it differently. Basically I replace the jigsaw and the template routing with the CNC. So I glue up AFTER stuff comes off the CNC. On my little machine I can't trust the CNC to mill a face that's clean enough for joining. I wish I could but even with a finishing pass it just isn't quite clean enough. So I have to trim on the table saw. But that's not worse than template routing.

    This video is awesome! I plan on making some on my CNC. Can you tell me what thickness the boards are for the legs/side and seat? Was it 5/4?

    What type of toolpath did you use for curve of seat? Great video, I am building a chair very similar an put an inlay in the seat back with the fluting toolpath. I used the molding tool path with a double sided cut to put curve on back as well, both on seat and back. Thanks and again great video

      Thanks. I made the toolpath in Fusion 360. I fumbled through it and get it to work but it wasn't easy. I need to work in that software some more. Thanks for watching!

    I see you started the cutting with a Downcut Bit, Did you use this bit for the entire cut or change the bit for the final passes? Great Channel BTW.

    • @LastLegWoodworks
      @LastLegWoodworks  Před rokem

      I used it all the way through, I wanted a nice clean edge on top, and the walnut was held tight to a wasteboard so it was a clean edge on the bottom too. Thanks for watching!

    This is really cool! Glad to see the X Carve doing some furniture work. Do you recall what bit you used when cutting the legs out? Is that a 1/4” upcut bit? Thanks for sharing!!

    To product the tool paths where the spindle is moving in both the x and z axis, do you have a different software, or is that calculated in easel pro? I’m new to this and am just in the researching phase. I’d like to get into complex curves, in addition to the simple single plane carving.

    • @LastLegWoodworks
      @LastLegWoodworks  Před 2 lety

      I designed that process in Fusion 360. not easy software to learn but there are a lot of online tutorials that can help. Thanks for watching!

    Well done. So glad I discovered your channel. love learning. i like how you try to help people understand what you are doing and why, how you turned the domino poke through into a feature Always need to be able to figure out how to turn something that happens unplanned into something good. I started my CZcams channel a short while ago and my videos are longer because I try to help people understand what and why I am doing things, so I appreciate that in your videos.
