Yo these guys had the blueprint back then with the businesses ideas !
Visionaries with the business acumen
yea but where did it go? NOWHERE. thats our problem as black ppl...no unity.@@thanx4askin
Yea, such vision. True blessing
I don't think I've ever, in all my 44 years on this earth, have seen a video played in heavier rotation than when "Feel me flow," was bumping. MTV was loving them some Naughty by Nature that summer.
I feel like the lox took that business accumen to the next level
Great seeing Vin Rock and knowing he is healthy and doing more than well.
KAY GEE(NAUGHTY BY NATURE .. ZHANE .. NEXT .. JAHEIM .. KOFFEE BROWN) 1 OF THE MOST UNDERRATED GREAT PRODUCERS IN HISTORY .. HE DOESN'T GET ENOUGH CREDIT ..
💯
Fax
Divine mill was Kay gee label I believe they was all in Flava unit 1 once that's queen Latifah label
Facts he's an amazing producer
He really is
As a 90s kid, I grew up on this crew!
How time flies....I miss those dayz.💯 #naughtybynature👑🎤
They were ahead of the curve with the focus on merch. Crews like Hiero, Wu Tang and others also took advantage of that neglected/underutilized aspect of game.
Man, did it pay them dividends!!!!!!
Run dmc.
Rza came with his own plan that's been bitten ever since. 🤷🏿♂️
Nothin wrong with that if Kay Gee wanted to produce R&B music.
@@thanx4askin They was raps first billionaires since 1999 off Wu Wear. GTFOH 🏌️🏌️🏌️🏌️🏌️🏌️🏌️🏌️
The homie Vin was always Super smart
The guy's a genius
Trash rapper tho
Why you think he went to Trenton State college my dude DTH ILLTOWN Jersey ✊🏿💪🏿✊🏿🤎
Yeah, he's a very well spoken individual 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Please use intelligent.....well spoken was used as a slight to US
@@jwright2939 You're right, I can't stand how they use words against us.
@@jwright2939I thought it was the word "ARTICULATE " that got black folks offended🤔
@@jwright2939
Chill da fu#k out.... I wasn't offended by the comment.
@@jwright2939bro just because you live within a victim mindset doesn’t mean people around you have to edit their speech.
If commenting that someone is “well-spoken” offends you then that’s on you for being so fking soft.
Vin seems like a humble dude but you don't want to cross him.
Two things can be true. You can be a very cool dude and extremely serious about that paper. You have to be in this tough business.
I knew he was gonna say when Kay Gee started producing for other acts. It just seemed like the focus wasn’t there once acts like Next, Jaheim, Koffee Brown, etc., started to emerge. Don’t get me wrong, I love the era of Divine Mill, but by that point, it seemed to me that Naughty was really no more.
I agree NBN was a bit on the down slope when KayGee started to come with the other acts that was 🔥
Now the question is was KG wrong for that?
@@thanx4askin I’m kinda split there. On one hand, I def understand wanting to grow and evolve. But on the other, like Vinnie said, if Naughty is the foundation of everything you’ve built, I think you do owe it a little more attention. It’s tough. But ultimately, Kay Gee made the decisions he felt he had to.
Treach should have went solo after the Monica song in 96
I'm from Jersey and was hilariously closed to the loop around the time bruh was discovering Jahiem. NB was definitely on the outs already... iiconic emcees, but around the Divine Mill take off with all those artists; Naughty wasn't in the way.
Vin Rock is a fantastic interviewee. Good person on the street too. Naughty played a charity basketball game at Gates Park in Waterloo, Iowa earlier in the day before doing an evening concert at a teen club in Cedar Falls, Iowa known as “The Sign “ or it may have been called “Trendsetters” at the time still.
SAD 😢WISH YOU GUYS HAD STAYED TOGETHER YOU GUYS WERE AN IMPORTANT PART OF THAT ERA FOR SURE 😢
Yeah, we wished the same thing
Totally agree...
And always will be regardless
Treach not launching a solo career in ‘97-‘98 is the biggest career fumble in Hip Hop. He would’ve been HUGE. A group called ‘Naughty By Nature’ with that super early 90s style branding was simply not gonna connect with younger/newer listeners in the 2000s, straight up. KG was the smart one with his eyes on the long game tbh
He had a talent that transcended rap music. 🔥🔥🔥
False .
That would've Worked for him if he
would have did that between 94-97.
Plus He couldn't go Solo because that
would be the Same as Him being
Naughty by Nature by Nature was
and is TREACH as the Rapper.
Vinnie Character is that of a Hype man
and Backup Rapper.
@@fatherg.o.d.2852 nah. Naughty were still going strong 94-97 era. Solo Treach would’ve been rapping over non-Kay Gee beats….Preemo, Pete Rock, Muggs…..he would’ve had his pick . Kay Gee is the ‘sound’ of NBN just as Treach is the ‘voice’.
Id bet the label owned their rights still. If u owe records or time u cant do other stuff without going through court.
I wonder if Vin was to write a book on his journey what would he title it? Love this historical interview, black doesn’t crack!
I'm a ask him what he would name his book if he was to write one
Behind the scenes
Naughty by Nature....of course 😂😂😂😂
@@xtabolx2425 That is a strong possibility 😁
Unless black do crack.
Dope interview right here I like how vin breakdown the split Kay gee did his thing with the rnb shit
We loved how he broke it down just as much
@@thanx4askin facts
Kay's direction with Divine Mills was really moving once R.L. & Next got signed. Then came Jahiem and Coffee Brown, it really took off.
@@elijahstraight402 facts him and Eddie f was killing it in the 90s
@@TheBulletzgottishow20Damn...I totally forgot about Eddie F. He was signing crazy talent as VP of Laface with LA Reid & Babyface. Having already discovered Donnell Jones early in his career combined with having OutKast, TLC, Usher, Toni Braxton, and Goodie Mob. I was wondering if he ever had a hand in bringing in T.I. as a part of Arista
Why didn't Treach just go solo back then???
Nucca was a beast on the mic 💯💯💯
I remember back in 1996 seeing the Naughty by nature store in downtown Newark and taught how cool is that
It was a good business deal but it was in the wrong location the only people that was really supporting them was drug dealers a lot of people said that their prices was too high which it was I bought a few naughty gear! One of the main reason they closed down stuff wasn't smelling! They was supposed to move the store to the mall that would have been a better idea for business-wise!!
‘96 was too late. They shoulda BEEN had a retail outlet from 93….the brand was starting to decline in popularity by 96 so they had a year at best to capitalise on the buzz. Too little, too late
@@blahzay_ my family said the store was there since late 94.It was located in a back street,it should have been on Broad street.
Word up.. I remember the store downtown Newark Halsey Street... Miss them dayz..
Thanks for sharing! I loved Naughty By Nature. Treach has a treacherous flow! He's one of the greatest MC's who ever held a microphone 🎤
Vin is a real King!!! I’m born and raised NYC-BK .,.Love and Respect to my Jersey Team!!! Met Vin in Miami while he was macking with two shorties and Lord was mad cool and down to Earth!!! Respect and Honor!!!
Still listening to their songs bumping ✊🏾✊🏾💯💯
He still looks like mike Tyson 😊
That's funny 🤣🤣
@@thanx4askinHe Always Reminded Me Of Mike Tyson
Well according to some, now he looks like Fredo Bang father 😂
Ain't they related?
Allegedly they’re cousins
You know how proud I am to Have grown up 15 minutes away From Newark... I was at the naughty store all the time on Halsey Hoping to see By Naughty by nature... I was the 1st person To rock the jeans In my town It's funny but I wind up meeting them At At planet Hollywood in Florida
Now would be the time for that store, especially downtown Newark
Word!!!!!!!!!
You Already II In The House Big Respect My Brother We Out Here Mad Love And Blessings
These dudes are LEGENDARY, they started the clothing line in hip hop
Jersey doesn't get the credit it really deserves
Shout to everybody who made it to The Naughty Store on Halsey downtown NWK!! ✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼
It's obvious not many one of the main reasons for the store closing down!!
Well done my brotha . Interview was dope 🙏🏽🔥
Touched on it as why K was leaning away from Hip Hop, but it feels like he's intentionally leaving out Treach wilding out with Pac.
Dang i did not realize the serious outlook these cats had waaay back then! Sat thru his entire interview and all i got to say is i want him to do another one
These are some of the realest dudes in the game
Like they said, it's good to see all of these guys.Living pretty good lives. After so long and a game man
Naughty don’t get enough credit for the hits and Illtown Records. Poverty’s Paradise is a classic. Rotten Raskalz album🔥
Still awaiting the bio- pic 😔
Yes too!
Uncle Vin Rock is just a real man. Thank you for answering questions with conviction and still remaining humble.💪🏾
Naughty By Nature been ahead of the game from day one. Treach always representing those who were forgotten ( e.g. locked down.) You have Vin Rock taking care of merch before it was a thing for rappers to do. Kay Boogie creating timeless music .🎶🎶🎼
These three men are the three man threat!!!💪🏾🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🔥💯
Naughty By Nature for life 🫡
SouthSide love and Double II👊🏾
Facts i remember that store when i was a kid in brick city
That's fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yo! I've always wanted to do a track with Vin Rock and Phife. Much respect to Vin and R.I.P to Phife. They are in my top 10 mc's.
Kagee was straight HITS.
For years they used to say this guy was Mike Tyson brother. I got tired of arguing with dummies 😂.
I have always felt Treach needed to make a solo project where he worked with different producers. Treach is actually the blueprint for a lot of rappers styles from that era including Left Eye and Biggie. Treach was primed to be way more of a dominant force than he turned out to be.
Bro still looks the same after these years. Seems like life has been good to him. Big ups to Vin-Rock ✊🏾
And as my wife says....he's been good to life😊
SUPERB INTERVIEW,……I HEARD NOTHING BUT HONESTY. SALUTE TO THE LAGEND VIN MAN!!! 🫡
Thank you! This is much appreciated 🫡🫡🫡

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Met this brother in the 90s in a club called Bogies in east orange. Good brother!!
Naughty had a great 5 year run in hip hop from 91-96. The bottom line is the level of talent coming from BIG, Nas, Wu-Tang and Jay-Z to name a few was the sign of their rise the end of Naughty by Nature’s dominance which happens. Hip hop always changes and KayGee saw the writing on the wall.
5 years is a helluva run. Nowadays, a 5 song run is doing something. Ijs 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️
That's not correct.....Naughty broke up from 1996 to 1999.....they wasn't putting out Records. When they got back together in 1999 they dropped and went Gold
@@NJDEVILS-iz9fo I was a fan of Naughty by Nature. Their dominance was from "O.P.P" in 91 to the "Poverty's Paradise" album run which ended in 96. That was their peak. That's not to say they weren't a factor in rap, and yeah they had a solid Top 40 single with "Jamboree" in 99, but they weren't dominant like Jay-Z, DMX, Eminem, Outkast and the emergence of Southern Rap (Cash Money, No Limit) anymore. That's just the truth.
Jason Z only talent is biting. Stop including him with Biggie, Raekwon and Nas. He's not in their bracket.
@@GrandMasterCipherSupreme777 Jay-Z has 14 #1 albums and 24 Grammys. He's in a bracket all by himself. GTFOH.
Thank ya in #DTH♥️💙
WE NEED ANOTHER NAUGHTY BY NATURE ALBUM 💯.
We couldn't agree more 💯💯
BUT IMAGINE NAUGHTY ON A PREEMO TRK⁉️ OR A DRE TRAK😳 OOOOOH MY! MY! MY!
Happy to see my him, i was wondering, where he was, he still sound the same, he led the hop hop hooray song, same voice , good to see you my man.

Vinny verse on "Dirt All By My Lonely" was Hawd
Top 3 best groups in hip hop history
It's hard to argue that
Hey! I NEED A NEW NAPPY BY NATURE HAT ❤I loved that hat 😭😭😭I lost it at Freaknik 😂❤

Life's really been good to him. For real, for real!
Good content as well bro. More prosperity @@thanx4askin
Vinny, well spoken and not bashing his people. well said!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vin Rock looks exactly the way he did when i was a kid watching them. ‘80s and ‘90s hip hop was the golden age of hip hop. I don’t go near anything from today.
East orange NJ, there is no place with more talent per square mile than anywhere on earth, so glad and blessed i call it home
Jamaica 🇯🇲
What about Jamaica
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
I heard Trech did all the writing . Vin still look the same . Salute good health .
Dope interview.
I thought VINNIE and especially TREACH should have done solo records. The opportunity was there.
It was but that production from KG was what he wanted
💯
Treach was always a dope M to me, but I never felt his voice and delivery fit with any other producer(s) besides Kay Gee
Agreed!
Treach was too busy clout chasing PAC
I remember the store in downtown Newark. I was shocked when it closed
Dope interveiw
Thank you. Much appreciated Bro 🙏🏿🙏🏿
Re open the store
🔥🔥🔥🔥 yall doing great work #CAKE
Salute to Vin Rock!
They were ahead of their time. If they had blown up 20 years later during social media....they would have been billionaires.
Yeah, I can see that. Their building savvy behavior would have undoubtedly put them in that position to be billionaires.
That makes much sense to the reason naughty split love them tho!!!
We love them all!!!
My guy Vinnie good to see him
That Nineteeen Naughty Nine album is actually my favrit of all the albums. Too many bangers on that joint that went unheard.
An interview a while back on Breakfast Club Treach was really on some F Vinnie for life type talkin...like he totally despises Vinnie.
Hope these brothas can find peace one day.
Me too. I think it sucks that greats like them aren't friends like that anymore
Bro that was close to 10 years ago. They’ve been made up
@@ZYaKnoe249 Good!
@@ZYaKnoe249I thought so. Treach even spoke on it during that same interview or maybe it was another one I'm thinking of with the The BC
@ZYaKnoe249 It was awhile ago but they all was beefing with each other but Vinnie actin like it was just KGee and Treach.Vinnie suppose to had suckered punched Treach so you know they had to have a straight up fade before anything could be forgiving
Love Vin. Good dude. And truth be told, most rap groups or persons had their own beat producers at the time.

Shoutout to the Legends of the game 💯💯💯💪🏾
That's a fact!!!!
Peace to Vin
🔥🔥🔥🔥
I had at least one Naughty Album
NJ stand up!
I always said a Treach solo album around '97-'98 would have been legendary. After Pac died so many people benefited directly and indirectly but Treach was really his homie. Was really lyrical as hell. Really had the streets messing with him. Was down South heavy in Houston and on the West coast collabin with people. Had the sex symbol image where all the females used to love him. I think that's one of the biggest missed opportunities ever in hip-hop.
Vin Rock is a real one🦾💯
I wish another, Rottin Razkals album came out, that was my joint 🫡
Yeah in my opinion these two were a huge Bridge from the old school to the new school a new cadence a way of rhyming it was intelligent it made sense and it was hella slick and street. Thats real rap.
Kay Gee hell on the basketball court also
Vinny was and still is one of my Best Buddy back since 3rd grade😎 Bully Crushers illtown.. Wat up vin... Stockton School 😀 it's your boy Walt the wizard.... Mr Gling😊
He hasn’t aged a bit
What goes up must come down. They was that shit back in the 90s though!

My man didn’t age one bit 💪🏿
Facts! 🔥🔥🔥
my guy uncle vin
I miss all the old school rap.
Thisan has not aged he gotten a lil more round 😂 but no facial hair nothing..👌🏾
let the man TALK & TELL HIS STORY!!!!!
Naughty by Nature store was Downtown Newark NJ on Halsey I saved my money & bought my first expensive jacket from their blue and lime green “Cyberteck” windbreaker jacket $200 something dollars I was like 14-16 happy as fuq to even go in the store
That's real love!
🎉Cheers to the business mindsets of that triple threat 🎉 Naughty By Nature! God bless you both and your families King's. Duces up from #CaLA
He still looks the same from 90’s
What it sounds like is they (Particularly Treach) didn't know or wanna expand, they would've been hella fire, they even had that young group the "Youngstas" they had some good music in the 90's smh greed is why they fumbled....
This dude does NOT age 💯
That's a fact
I was a child when O.P.P. came out. How the hell do I look older than Vin and he still looks the same?? Man, wtf....
Y'all remember the hats they wore with the strings hanging in the back?? We had homemade jawns before we got the real ones 😂😂
