- Welcome to the latest MoDXtra: Games & Collectibles action figure review. In this instalment we're taking a look at the new G.I. Classified Series Metal-Head figure.
That's right - I'm slowly ploughing my way through the raft of GI Joe Classified pre-orders that arrived in early April, and Metal-Head was next on my "to review" list. I'm always eager to offer a solid review that comes from some decent hands-on, man-child playtime experience with my action figures, but Metal-Heads been with me for quite a while so I've really got to know this particular fig.
This is a THOROUGH review. It will involve a brief unboxing of Metal-Head, an overall view of the figure, and then some detailed thoughts around his aesthetic, articulation, and accessories. (My action figure review Triple A's LOL).
Its exciting to have a continued focus on GI Joe Classified on the channel, and its my hope that if you've been thinking of picking up an Metal-Head of your own its my hope this thorough review will help you make your decision.

The longer he sits on my shelf, the more I realize how easily I could have just passed on him. The fact that the rockets don't fit in the launchers without the blast effects seems like a glaring oversight. I am hopeful that GridIron does a custom loadout for him, so I can swap out the stuff he came with. Maybe that will up the enjoyment factor a bit.
It seems odd, doesn't it? They have proven many times that they have their eye on these little details so it's strange when something like this comes along.
The figure is cool, but it's also a bit of a bummer. It seems like the design team didn't get to play with him before production. Rockets not fittingin the launchers w/o the blast effects is a bummer. You have to pose him a certain way and not play with him.
Negatives = rocket sizes & requiring the blast effects, hoses.. techno viper style would have been a better choice, tolerances on a few of the joints... to tight or to loose.
Positives: Figure looks good, paint on the weapons (hopefully that is consistent with future Iron Grenadiers, Double peg on back: This could be key for TARGAT, Annihilator, Fast Draw, Heavy duty... maybe a way to connect heavy systems to figures. The double peg on Metal Head should give customizers a LOT of options to 3D print different backpacks for him.. Lasers, mini-guns, go crazy with ideas here.

I like the figure and his leg launchers but his backpack is little much is the combination between the MCU yellow jacket and Predator. I don't understand every gun I got in the last two or three years with a Joe has the stiffness of a rubber band how come those hoses that plug in aren't flexible? I feel like crazy eyes from that movie Mr Deeds is signing the orders.
LOL 😂 I believe they said that they were aware of the rubbery gun problem and it will be solved soon. We'll see...
I have this figure but there are two things that really bothers me about it .the first thing i dislike about him is that the rockets can only be plugged onto the smoke effects and wont fit into the rocket launcher and i hate the red thigh plug that remains permanently in place when you don't have the thigh rocket launcher on him.
It sounds like we're of a like-mind on this one Wil. One of the joys of Classified is that its not limiting, so when a figure comes along that is kind of limited like this its a check in the negative column.
The figure looks fine, but I don't really have a great love for the character...not enough to pay the deluxe price he's going for. If I'm being honest, the Dic G.I. Joe cartoon ruined the character for me. So I'm likely going to pass on him unless Amazon has a really good sale on him.
Yeah - the DiC stuff leaves a lot to be desired LOL I can totally see why it would ruin a character for you.
