Well, of course there is a neat pro/con list of arguments when it comes to church bells being an integral part of occidental cultural heritage. On one hand, they certainly do give a subliminal sense of comfort and security, especially in more rural areas. On the other hand, they DO NOT necessarily need to ring during night time or “storm-ring” people out of their sleep by force at the brink of dawn like in some areas. The times of a vast majority of people primarily doing farmwork all day is long gone.
If we could find an agreement by silencing them at least between midnight and 7:00 in the morning, everyone could benefit.

I've also worked at the Railway proving centre in Velim which on the way back to the UK means stopping over in Prague. And I've never realised just how quite it is in comparison on a Sunday due to the lack of bells.

And yet, the timeless nature of bells does make them worth preserving, or in this case, recreating. To make people donate money at the bell statue you need to make it not boring and implement some way that the donation is fun for them. You know the donation boxes where you can donate coins and they spin in a spiral for ages before falling into the bin below? Or the machines where you have to insert €2 en 5 cents and you get the 5 cents back with a pressed design of the place you visited? Or the 0 euro bills you find all over Europe with all the tourist destinations. Maybe let the bell ring 1 time when someone donates 5 or 10 euros, idk, the options are limitless.

I have an idea for the funding part. Have the bell swing only on WWII memorial days and stuff, but also give it a hammer on the side. A box that collects coins that is connected to the hammer will raise it and the hammer will strike the bell. You decide on the amount of money, but I'm thinking something like a 1 euro coin strikes it once, two euro coin twice, and if you use a bill of 5, it strikes 5 times.

Operation Anthropoid, Assassination of Reinhard Heydrich occurred on 27 May 1942 in Prague. By British trained Czechoslovak resistance operatives Jozef Gabčík and Jan Kubiơ. Heydrich died of his wounds on 4 June 1942.He was one of the most powerful men in Nazi Germany and an important figure in the rise of Adolf Hitler.
Hitlers revenge was swift , On 9 June 1942, the Germans committed the Lidice massacre; 199 men were killed, 195 women were deported to RavensbrĂŒck concentration camp, and 95 children taken prisoner. Of the children, 81 were later killed in gas vans at the CheƂmno extermination camp, Hitlers orders were 1 Execute all adult men, 2 Transport all women to a concentration camp 3 Gather the children suitable for Germanisation and deport and execute the rest 4 Burn down the village and level it entirely 😔😔

The irony of using church bells to make weaponry always gets me. One gave hope and the sound of freedom to masses, the other just took them away.

Hey. I got a suggestion. Why don't you make a small rememberens bell. Then allow people to ring it for 50-100 kc.
Think about it as an option for a instagram and doing a god thing to raise money.

Could have it in a wing of the church would not sound outside then. Im thinking like a bell that you have like the hight of a person not in a tower.

Your bells 🔔 was not replaced because they fear will be stolen again and use for the same problem.

Orgs are already working on at least basic English version of their web. They've been a bit surprised by the international attention. Please, try again in a day or two.
