It’s amazing how he doesn’t have that fear anymore but has kept his humility and politeness. He seems like a perfect gentleman in every sense!
He is a quiet, backward, shy country boy from Kentucky. He grew up in eastern kentucky in the coal fields as did I. He is just flat out talented. He was a song writer and then came out and sang his own songs at his wife’s behest or he would still be just writing songs. This former Kentucky girl is tickled to death to see one from home do well.

As a believer you might appreciate Chris Stapleton's - "Daddy Doesn't Pray Anymore". He wrote it in about 15 minutes while waiting on his wife to get dressed (It was only a few months after losing his dad). It does have a bit of a more traditional country vibe though.
This song just won country song of the year at the Grammy's. He performed it there too. He said this song was organically written while he and his band were warming up before a show.
When he start’s playing his guitar, he is crying in his soul! 🔥
This performance was incredible. Chris and his entire band are amazing. I’ve seen them live 3 times and will be seeing them again in October. His voice and guitar skills are the absolute best. He’s a gift.

Chris Stapleton is an amazing talent. You need to watch the Austin City Limits version of Tennessee Whiskey with his wife singing harmony. He is such a rare talent that he is better live than the studio version and also watch the video of Fire Away.

My jaw hit the floor. Amen, brother. Been with my wife for 20 years and we both understand that we cannot be each other's "everything" as so many couples proclaim. Instead, we make God, YHWH, Christ, our center and everything and in drawing nearer to Him, we become closer to each other with a bond that cannot be broken. So uplifting and encouraging to witness faith unexpectedly.

Yessir… Mr. Stapleton delivering again. As other have said, “I was wrong” and “Sometimes I Cry” are amazing… but don’t skip “Broken Halos”… not quite as jaw dropping of a performance, but possibly the deepest song I’ve heard of his from an emotional standpoint.

His style of singing is more old country with some soulful singing. This new pop country had destroyed country music.
That's just what they play on the radio. Country is a huge genre and most of it isn't mainstream.

Chris is an actual artist that can take you on a journey with just his voice alone. As some of the other commenters have suggested, if you want to see a good example of his story telling ability check out the song Death row. But you have to keep the pauses to a minimum because if you don't you'll miss the story.

My husband of 30 yrs passed away suddenly last year, and it's killing me that he's not able to retire with me and do the things we planned. Can't get any better (imho) than Chris. He's got it all-- the voice, the guitar playing (how'd you like when he droppped his line in the middle and let the guitar finish it for him...by making the guitar cry?), the love of and deep understanding/knowledge of/feeling for music, the years of success writing for other people (and all that comes with being a great songwriter)...and the uncanny ability to make every single musical choice the right one to push/deepen what the song is saying and feeling.
Love that you get excited about him (and about other things you react to-- especially your first Phil Collins experience, when he did The World's Greatest Drum Drop).
Wondering about something you said...when you are married and have kids, do you not want/expect your wife to build her life around you, and the family? Do you not expect to do that yourself?
Not saying you both wouldn't have friends, outside interests and such, as most everyone does, but I don't think that's what that line in the song means. I think it's less literal, and means that, as people do when, e.g., they have children, they assume they are creating a future that centers around family...and if that's shattered, no matter how many friends, how interedted they are in their work, how many outside interests they have, they are still shattered when it falls apart, along with all their plans for the future.
And, in order to make a commitment to marriage and children, and build your life around them, you first have to find a person you love and feel is right for you...and commit to that person, i.e., build your life around that person, before building your life around having a family with that person.
Are you saying that's being a sucker? And that you are unwilling to take that risk?

You have to be wise about it. Marriage is all about mutual dependence. Modern couples think they should marry, while being independent of each other. That is not a marriage.
