Im so glad you guys are moving/ moved. I mean things like this are unpredictable. I was born in Uruguay and raised there until I was 6 years old. I moved to USA ever since so idk much about Uruguay in general and what it’s like living there but I would’ve made the same mistake!! Specially if you haven’t lived there your whole life

Yes exactly, it’s hard to know what you ARE entitled to because everyone you ask has a different opinion! If I take the relaxed approach, I’m stupid, but if I complain, then I’m a complaining person who hates Uruguay and should leave 😂 I know this is just the nature of online comments and the true Uruguayan people are (usually) much more genuine buuuuuut it can still be hard to find out all the important information!

I think you are over judging the situation. You choose to move to Pocitos. This is a very popular area and construction will continue because of high demand and safe area. You should have move to a non metropolitan area if noise is an issue for you. You made rocky decition, hope you learn and that will help you on your next adventure.

landlord the world over see the young ones coming afar off and dream up all the ways they are going to get you to accept their overpriced overpromised rentals. Me (native uruguayan) and my american wife went trough same here. One we ended brushing shoulders with a convict mad at us, when we had two babies and wife stayed home all morning with babies. Landlord did not care.

advise,......go by the contract and don't let other party to deviate from it either. Youre strength is that you go by the contract and then you can demand what is represented/promised.

Yeah honestly what is the point of a rental contract if they just do whatever they want anyway lol?

Hi maddie great video again .... its dispointing all this theres not a perfect place to live evetthing has pros and contras you can complaint at the consumers affairs office you can lay a denuncia in that office they would be calling both parts for a settlement if they say you have ir dont have to pay for the extra charges that you didnt singned up for ......remember that you have the same rigth and oblation as an uy ppl native ppl have ......I am really sorry that your things didint turned up as you both were planing there are little tricks every where to charge you for things they think you as a foreiner dont know dont have to pay .....anyway keep up discovering uy to see if its a place that is worth living in cheers from dove city uy 🤣🤣😂😂😁😀😀😀😆😆😆😍😍😍😏🤩🤩🤩😎😎😎😎😎😘😘😘🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍😍💪💪💪👌👌👌👍👍👍👋👋👋👏👏👏👏

thanks for the input! I think the hard thing is that things here are called strange things sometimes, like we also didn't know what the "impuesto de la puerta" until recently but we just paid it because it was added to out gastos communes :P
and it's hard to know if we complain, what will happen? does anything change? or do we just become the annoying foreigners. In the past when i have said negative things, people always assume I'm just a privileged extranjera who doesn't know what she is talking about, and part of that is true... just not the rich or privileged part.

@@MaddieAle not at all you have the rigth in complaining to be sure go to the consumers affars office in a consulting way ask there if you have all that fines and extra taxes they are charging you they are the ones that know all about the extra charges gastos comunes and the fines if your dogs do po po in the grass of the garden ......maddie you are comming from a first world were everythings work like a swiss clock wger the rules and the laws are clear and most ppl comply with the laws and taxes and you are in a pieriod of adjusting to a new culture a new country and a new society it happened to me shen I arrived in oz 48 years ago by then I was a 20 yo very young and I did adappted very soon but took me 3 years to learn to speak in english and 7 years to speak it perfectly ......I think the impuesto de puerta has to be payed by the owner of the aparment not by the inquilinos like you but make a consulting a solicitor of your trust cheers from 🐦🐦🐦🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🦆🦆🦆uy 😂😂😀😀😀😁😁😂😆😆😆😆😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩😘😘😘😘🤔🤔🤔😑😑😐😐😐👌👌👌👍👍👏👏👏👋👋👋
