Which is better? Beretta 92G Elite LTT vs Beretta PX4G-SD

  • The Beretta PX4G-SD is the successor to the Beretta 92 - in theory the more "duty rated" gun - but the PX4 has largely been unsuccessful in unseating the 92 in the holsters of many. So we shoot them head to head to see how it goes.

You think it’s the grip or the added weight of the 92 or something else that makes you better with that over the px4?

@@ZensivYT The G10 grips I have on my 92's keep the pistol planted in my hand from the draw and that's half the battle. My 92's are roughly 6 oz. heavier than my PX4 but I don't think the weight is the factor because I shoot my P30 LTT's better than the PX4 and the P30 is lighter. I've shot all the new (2024) LTT PX4 demos (including comped) down in AZ and I still prefer the 92 model over it.

I absolutely love the 92's, have several to prove it and carried one for many years. The 92XC with the aggressive wrap-around grip is my favorite. Now having said that, I've bought a couple of PX4C over the past few years and fell hard for them. When I bought my first one, no one seemed to know they even existed, but once in a while you would talk to someone who did. Those people would light up and smile because they owned one also. I felt like I was in a strange Beretta sub cult, and it was my duty to get the "good word" out to the masses about the salvation, joy and love that could be had with the addition of a PX4 storm to their lives. Yes even the striker fire fan boys and girls with the Sig and Glock tattoos. Mr. Langdon has worked his magic and really done some truly amazing things with personally testing this handgun and given it the love and mods that he has given the 92. I hope one day I can send my skateboard tape PX4c edc to them to get a real trigger job done. BTW, Seriously, you need grip tape for these things. A friend recently shot one and said his golf balls have more texture than the PX4 grips do... When he said this I didn't hear the word "golf" the first time. It was a odd conversation.

I just got the LTT px4 g-sd and the heavy barrel is noticeably less recoil than the regular px4. To me where the 92 comes out ahead is mag availability and holster options. From a shooting experience I think the px4 gsd is ounce for ounce a better platform

It’s a you-pick-em kinda head to head. What I find amazing is that the 92 after almost 50 years is still relevant and in the conversation as is the Storm, albeit only after 20 years - what’s amazing is its new found celebrity thanks to LTT and the renewed efforts of Beretta. Maybe loosing to the ziggzauer refocused that Italian talent !! Mostly a beretta upland fanboy (so I’m already leaning that way) It’s getting harder and harder to not buy a storm for myself. Great vid as always

They are both exceptional. The PX4 is more composed and suited for defensive use. The X-Calibur is a race gun pure and simple. Incredible trigger and accuracy on the X-Calibur. While they are similar in concept and design, when you run them it is very clear that they are intended for different purposes. If you are at all curious, you can't go wrong with either.

You'd get something pretty similar if you ordered the regular versions available in Europe, and then imported the "trigger in a bag" package that LTT offers for both guns. Especially if you chose the ones with an optimized performance trigger bar. Obviously, you'd need a competent gunsmith to install it.

but this is almost impossible to import the LTT parts because everything concerning weapons ar not alowed to importating as long as there is nothing "official"...
At least, LLT should make their parts/kits allow to be sold in european market. They can make a lot of money they would be very successful here. Because I know a lot of people who would like buy their parts too

Function, even in base form is amazing and the rotating barrel is game changing for my use. A refreshed v. 2.0 would really help and hopefully it would get the due it deserves.

Wilson has a mag well funnel chute for the 92 to make the 92 like the PX4. The chute protects the back of the palm, so the palm does not get pinched. Simple pin on piece. Put one on my 92 and cured the hand pinch problem.

The px4 cc shoots so smooth and flat. Can consistently shoot mid 90s on the hat drill and in slow fire will hold a 10 ring group at 25 yards.

I have to agree that both are fantastic options. I still would tend to favor the 92. Appreciate the perspective and experience. I have carried large frame revolvers and full size 1911s and other larger metal frame guns in the past. My EDC is a full size M&P 2.0. I am inclined to believe I would faithfully carry a 92 like this. But that PX4 seems like the sweet spot for carry. I should get both and find out. Well done. Many thanks.

Here's the thing, these pistols NEED night sights and/or fiber optic front at the least, I'm talking stock, Sig can do it, I know Beretta can, that's the only negative I have with my 92x, that "high visibility" front sight is anything but.

The LTT Elite grips are nice for carry but they lack grip traction and are actually rather slick. I got some grippier options from VZ and the gun feels like it's stuck to your hand and you don't need as much grip strength to keep it on target. If anything, the PX4 probably felt nicer to shoot for you simply because of the rubber grip tape on it which gives way more traction than the nice lookin but slick LTT grip panels.

I like the PX4 but you really have to get the LTT version for it to hold up against the 92. Still no factory optic cut, polymer frame with no grip texture. If you fix that by getting the LTT version then I've found it to at least be on par with a stock LTT 92. There's still further customization you can do to the LTT 92 that makes it an even better shooter. It's simple to get a ported barrel, doesn't change holster compatibility. You can get whatever grips/grip texture you want. I like lokgrips brass grips.

If I had as much practice with the PX4, I’m sure I’d shoot it better than my 92s.

Thoughts on comps on compact guns? Wouldn't it be simpler to carry the next size up? Or have compact frame with longer slide. Glock 19 comp vs glock 17 vs glock 17 comp vs glock 34. Can someone even comp a glock 34?

    • @paddypibblet846
      @paddypibblet846 Před měsícem

Comps definitely give you A LOT more recoil control than simply going a size up. However there's a lot of caveats with going comped. There's different types of comps and some are much better than others. The comps themselves require more cleaning, you gotta keep an eye on them to make sure they don't start coming lose, and because they take away some of the energy that would normally be used on the slide to reciprocate and work the action... it can lead to reliability problems if one day you're using lighter loads than whatever you've calibrated your recoil spring and comp to. Yes you can comp a G34 as I have done it. However, it makes the gun too long and unwieldy, the best I can do is modify Glock 34 holsters to allow the comp to protrude from the bottom of the holster but I haven't found a single holster either OWB or IWB for a comped G34. And trust me you don't want to reholster a comped gun with the comp sticking out that you just shot a magazine with unless you want some nice burns in your leg or groin area.
Most people comp the G19, because once it's comped it ends up roughly the size of a G34 to put it into perspective. So a lot of people end up using G34 holsters to carry a comped G19.
Personally I wouldn't recommend a comp for duty/CCW because it makes the gun very loud. A normal 9mm magdump can give you permanent ear damage, doubly so for inside a car indoors. The comp makes the gun extremely loud and increases your chances of extreme hearing damage or quality of life damaging tinnitus (ask me how I know).
Is the added recoil control worth it to deal with all those downsides? Well that's entirely up to you to decide. The way I look at it, I see how good guys like Bob Vogel and Gabe White are with pretty much stock Glocks, so practice takes precedence over gadgets and gizmos. Good luck with your choices.

I’ll like the 92 elite better than the px4. I’ve shot a px4 and I think the rotating barrel is a neat idea but I think people exaggerate on the recoil reduction. They’re double stack 9mm handguns, they shouldn’t have that much recoil anyway.

    • @TheHumbleMarksman

Shoot it with stouter ammunition - with like +P defensive rounds the recoil reduction is pronounced in the PX4. With range loads it's not a huge difference. PX4 will feel largely the same from range load to stout load - you'll feel the difference in the 92.

That might be true with +p loads. I carry standard pressure HST rounds and it’s not too much of a difference for me.

You need to get a LTT P30 or P30L to compete against these two.

@@TheHumbleMarksmanThey’re great. I’ve got the PX4,P30 and 92 from Langdon and shoot the best with the P30. It definitely isn’t as flat as the PX4 or the 92, but I seem to do better w it for some reason.

PX4 = near perfect carry gun
92G = near perfect competition gun.

If you take the aesthetics out of consideration the PX4 is hands down the better platform.

I’m a dad of about to be 5 kidos. Thank you for reminding me that adding hard is more important than having that next cool gun. As a vet and a cop is a good reminder it’s better to dad hard.

I land on a Glock 34 with a Glock 19x as the carry gun….for now.

Odd. The 92 wsa the gun that goe me intereted in handgunséirearms....admittedly from enjoying Lethal Weapon fims.....but, as i got 'more into guns' I gradually lost interet i in the 92--body design, engineering...oddly iève never shotéowned one. Itès like I naturally avoid the gun. :) 'Open slide' ---ummmm....eems like a novelty featureédesign..... not sure why youèd want it in a 'fighing gun'....wehter or not they jam u fater or not...hrug....

Hmm maybe but if you were to count our hairs from the neck up - I’d win.
Because my eyebrow and ear hair game is off the charts

I like the high sped up footage…needs the “Benny Hill” theme overlayed. 😂
