    Hey, do us a favour. When you are comparing high end guns, I'd love for you to throw in a decent entry level gun for comparison too. Like a glock or an M&P or something. Because while comparing the Alien to some high end guns is amazing, I'm genuinely curious as to how much advantage you get as a good shooter vs "generic" guns. I'm only a "meh" shooter - working my way up, but at this point I can say my limitations are me, not my equipment. But I'd love to see how that relationship changes.

      It would be pointless because these guns are absolutely better. They won't make a horrible shooter good but they will make a good shooter better. There are separate videos you can search comparing a Glock to a Nighthawk and I can pretty much guarantee they will all say the Nighthawk is better if you can afford it.

    Me thinks the S2 Optics Ready for 1.2k With SAO Conversion is an attractive option for price and performance. I believe thats why people like comparisons .
    I bought a 2011 and had plans to trick it out but by the time i had everything i wanted . It was not worth doing.
    I went S2 SAO route and came in just shy of 2k for everything including optic.
    Of course in the future I'll end up getting nice 2011 . I dont think it will be any tine soon. I like running pistols for 2 to 3 years before i even think about switching .
    It took 3 years to go from X5 LEGION to CZ SP01 / S2 SAO . I was noticeable bettee with CZs Vs X5 and that was after the first range trip .
    Those MPA 2011s are freaking legit . Ive had the pleasure of shooting couple after matches . Staccato XC is probably the best 2011 ive fired to date . I have not fired any Atlas 2011s yet . The clubs i shoot at Staccato , MPA , Springy and CZs is what huge number use in L.O...
    Alien looks absolutely phenomenal but its not practical for me to ever own . Anything more than 2k i cannot justify doing at this time .
    Absolutely phenomenal video bro . Truly awesome data collected..

    Great comparison! Love videos like this. The DS9s are $1k - $1.5k less expensive, right? I'd go DS9 LOC. Regardless of the price, I'd worry the more direct recoil impulse of the Alien would tire me out/annoy my joints (but I'm an old ex rockclimber with very abused elbows). The Alien also needs to prove itself reliable, etc. It's a very cool gun tho.
    Alien aside, I'm currently trying to decide which MPA to buy so this helps a bit. I was gonna go for a Hybrid but now I'm thinking LOC. Tough choice. No sanctioned competitions in my neck of the woods so I get to buy whatever looks most fun.😉
    Cheers, thanks for the long form video and thanks for including the S2 and XC. They're also very useful comparisons. I'm a CZ fanboy who just purchased a gently used S2 Orange cut for CZC optics plates at a terrific price and a Staccato P owner who's pretty XC curious.

    Well I got one of the newer built DS9 with aluminum grip and have shot the LOC. I got the DS9 for under 3k out the door so that would probably be my move everything considering price to performance ratio. However I am going to grab a LOC for when I shoot longer range outdoor matches.

  • @kennyplatt1235
    @kennyplatt1235 Před 3 měsíci +1

    The heavy 2011 would be the winner in my book. Heavier guns are easier to keep stable on longer shots, and the soft recoil impulse is better IMO for longer higher round count days, and for the times where you miss your grip a little. There’s no doubt that fast cycling but snappy and flat has its place, but I’ve always found that they’re generally harder to perform consistently with because they rely more on your mechanics as a shooter to keep them still and flat vs the heavier guns just being naturally softer and nicer to shoot with less effort.

    Largo CELO looks interesting, but the price point and the unfamiliarity of the gun will probably hold it back from being seen at local matches. Spare parts would be a issue so if anything breaks or wears out on the gun, your pretty much SOL and its not like you'll have a backup CELO you can continue a match with. (Maybe?). I think the US market share on these will stay pretty low just because of the price of really a "unproven" firearm unlike a 2011 where you can get in the game for Sub 1k or break out the CC and pay 8k+.

In IPSC I think the Alien will compete in Production ( only DA/SA or striker fire no ports or mods except on trigger) against CZ, PDP ,Tanfoglios etc no SA guns allowed. I have the CELO and an Erebus. I have a thousands of rounds on the atlas, and a few hundred on the CELO. The alien really is a totally different grip when you’re trying to shoot it accurately and quickly. It definitely requires a grip adjustment. But I really like it. It’s super flat and the trigger is very fast. my 16-year-old daughter, who shoots a tricked out STI DVC3 shot the alien this past weekend from holster on USPSA targets while moving and was an absolute tack driver with it. She is completely convinced. I don’t think I’m getting it back.

  • @oddsparrow8522
    @oddsparrow8522 Před 3 měsíci

    I wonder if not the alien retro would be faster than the creator. Reason the grip angel is more aggressive and the low bore axel should pump more straight back. I tried the alien ( with the old angel ) vs an shadow2. It was like night and day if we talk the shooting experience (only did 200 rounds). And the smoothness is just incredible - it felt like a good handshake. I’m shooting Pdp today and that was the best fit for me until i shoot the alien. And now I have the problem to choose- alien retro games or the Pdp match steel.

    Great video, nice comprehensive range info. The MPA LOC seems to be the logical choice. I thought it would be a bit more accurate on the 25 yard Bullseye slow fire target. I would go with MPA LOC but for longer distances the 2.5 moa SRO would be a better choices, and for full tilt boogie it still works fast on close targets if you just bloom the dot with brighter setting. oh just FYI on my XC replaced the Poly grip with a Cheely L2 Aluminum and Steel Magwell,,, totally better feel and balance. the below parallel dip is all but gone now, much less oscillation at full speed. Halfway through, and my gut says the alien is the better shooting gun. It stays flatter, and less weight makes easier on the draw and fast up close transitions.

    And 2011 is able to be shot in major loads if permited
    Alien is however amazing to compete head to head with top platforms in production

      My M&P with an apex barrel shoots 1” groups at25 yards.
      The factory barrel shoots 4” groups.
      I would never know that without shooting from a rest…

    I have the original Alien and now I'm supposed to toss that and get the Creator because of the improved grip angle. Wait, now I'm supposed to toss the Creator and get the LO. Thank you but I'll stick with my 2011s. I've relegated Alien to novelty item and range toy. Alien is still fun to shoot, just too much hassle.

    My 1st gen Alien with Brass Lok grips is something like 54 oz and I really don't think it outperforms MPA ,especially for the money. Not to mention aftermarket support you get for 2011 pose to Alien. I've been chasing Laugo for bigger mags or mag extensions forever . New magazíne extensions do not work with original frame with magwell, so.....I got Alien for.sale.😅

      It's still almost a grand more than the mpa with the steel frame...its also comped...

    Those two guns cost between 7k and 5k respectively, I think I’d buy a nice Bul Armory Ultimate Racer and a ton of ammo for the cost of the alien or 2 Bul Armory URs.

    The technique used for drawing the lines and measuring is going to give you a flawed result for the XC. Since the measurement point was on the comp and the comp can move up and down under recoil (which it should because the 2011/1911 barrel tilt is intentional) you have accidentally made the XC look worse than it is. I would recommend using the line in between the frame and slide, FYI. You can see the additional gap in the frame, in your video. Good work otherwise!

    • @TheHumbleMarksman
      @TheHumbleMarksman  Před 3 měsíci

      No - I am measuring the top of the slide not the comp - it’s the same on all of the guns

    • @ichibahnwrx
      @ichibahnwrx Před 3 měsíci

      @@TheHumbleMarksman it looks significantly more tilted in the image, but perhaps that's just the visual representation from the video. Glad to hear it was consistent.
