As a kid in the late 70’s I was in awe of Tom Platz. All my friends were idolizing Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lou Ferrigno, Franco Colombo, and Sergio Olivia but I was trying to be like Tom “Quadzilla” Platz. All through school while they were doing curls and bench press I was doing every exercise that I could for my legs. Still to this day I would rather do legs than any other body part at the gym. Platz is a true ICON in the bodybuilding world and will always be one of the greatest in my opinion.

I know your comment is very old, but it’s worth mentioning that a lot of new studies/old studies and new data suggests there’s benefits to purposely going knees over toes in exercises. That it’s going knees over toes that provides ligament and tendon strength that otherwise wouldn’t normally be gained. In fact, some of the exercises a person with chronic knee pain would eventually start doing resemble that of what Tom platz use to do. I use to think Tom was crazy and lucky his knees didn’t snap in half... I now realize that his way of training led to developing thick ligaments and tendons that other bodybuilders didn’t have due to never going knees over toes. It’s very interesting stuff, because he was way ahead of his time.

@ you aren't that stupid are you? athleticism is a different genetic trait than muscle bellies and androgen receptors. bodybuilders might not have been born with great vertical leaps, great hand eye coordination and other traits that make a great athlete, but they were definitely born with great muscle bellies, muscle insertions, androgen receptors and skeletal structure to be able to put on 300 plus lbs of mass....the average man cannot do that if he tried.

It's great to see the old videos of the true era of bodybuilding I'm fed up with these guys today at these commercial gyms they do is take phone videos at the gym with no legs less than average upper body thinking that that's what it takes to be famous I love the old era these guys use to take out time from their work outs to train you nowadays pure narcissistic behavior at gyms

Still the best legs in bodybuilding in my opinion. Realize that his weight was lower than the competitors today but his legs were way bigger and more defined. Nobody is training as hard as Platz did, I wish someone on the Olympia stage would. Not just once but consistently for a year.
