The South Asian & East Asian population in North Carolina is crazy high. I have never seen this many Asian people in Charlotte. They are setting up stores and restaurants. It’s really cool to see how diverse it’s becoming in the South Eastern states.
My Asian dad who is from Plymouth, NC, was amazed by all the Asians he saw recently while in Charlotte. In my rural SC town recently, I saw 3 Asians looking at an old defunct Hardees for sale. They gave me a weird look when I said Hi Cuz to them.
Diversity isn't good
I'm in nc & the majority of half my lifetime of yrs, ive lived in the smaller cities. & Still get/got thrown off. Not to say it happens alot. But it'll be fobs & what nots too. They'd my version of how'd u end up here? From all kinds of walks of life's. It's like ohhh sh. An Asian lawyer. Oh, I mean a lawyer ... Ohhh sh. The popo. Nevermind. Ohhh sh. A real estate agent. I'm just being extra,,,, Then there's ppls w/ the large families. Who lied to me & nevermind. I guess Asia in general is actually the largest population ever. Anywho I find sirarcha & Thai chilli sweet sauce at the dollar tree. I find actual chilli sauce at Walmart. I mean like originally made in Asia. I did not know Thai was that popular. Cousin country. They need to add pad Thai sauce at the grocery store ppl love that stuff, me too. But All those things r scores to me bc I hate my few days off on traveling just to run errands & what not. Bc u know, I do live in the country... Living half my life here is kinda like let me make a joke about country life. Vs y r they always mocking country folks for? U know there is cool ppl here. Like 1 or 2 but still
I'm in N.C., and there are A LOT of us Asians in The Research Triangle! There are now so many restaurants & groceries that cater to Asians… though not yet COSTCO here (…for now, at least!).
"South Asian" aren't actually Asian. They're caucasoid.
“Dang, a 104%. That’s beyond an A+.” That’s the most Asian thing Ever said. 😂
My city gets better when more Asians move in. Period
Every city does…racist white America will never admit it though.
They are very materialistic
@@LeahDyson-kq4bd sure but that comes with them caring about the city, education, reduction of crime and other stuff. All those things contribute to increasing the value of my home and the community. I welcome that

asians are peaceful and contribute to their community, you should be lucky to have asians
you can tell the asian homes cause the landcsape is nice and in the hills. like monterey park. my classmate from college who was half chinese and half japanese lived there.
America is nice because of British settlement dutch trading posts industrial revolution founding fathers etc this was all a foundation... Asians came later their own cultures gave them none of these freedoms
This guy is just talking about educated asians
As an Asian living in Minnesota...I need this 😂
As a white Chicago resident, I see why my city is not interesting to Asians. Chicago has had difficulty to innovate and update its way of doing things for a hundred years. O'Hare is America's fourth largest airport, used to be second largest up until a few years ago, larger than any airport on the East and West coasts, and does not have a direct flight to China. It's insane.
I used to fly direct to Chicago from Hong Kong and Tokyo. Are they no longer operating?
Anyhow, we are talking about Asian Americans here, who don't necessarily choose to live in places that are more accessible to Asia. There are other compelling reasons to choose a place to live. What about Asians in Texas?
There's a lot of entrenched white racism in the suburbs of Chicago. This is unlike the Northeast and West where the influx, size, and influence (re: money) of the Asian communities pushed out and replaced white political power very aggressively.
@@jeffreylee2993 NC too
Most of population growth from Indian immigrants who work in tech. 70% of H1B visa goes to Indians. They go to where tech companies are which are Seattle, Bay area and NY. Chicago has barely any presence hence not many Indians there.
I’m a 66 year old lifetime Chicagoan, we need political change! There should be two Asian aldermen based on population.
❤ thank you for all the contents! Love it!
Pretty sure Costco track their communities by not just sales but demographic memberships so locations with densely populated Asians would definitely get more Asian products. Costco also test products which is why you see limited time items.
Las Vegas makes sense for Asians. Gambling, lots of good restaurants & super close to Southern California (4 hr. drive).
They have a Chinatown on Sahara Blvd just west of the strip. Plus a huge Filipino & Hawaiian community in Vegas.
Hawaii was always Asian the New York area is way more Asian now
They Already Have Their Own Vegas. It’s Called Macau
I’m a young Asian I don’t do gambling that’s for old people for sure

why
9:19 actually there are some Asians in the Midwest, specifically you forgot about Chicago bc OHare/ORD does have direct flights to China/other Asian countries. I’m Chinese American 28F, grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and I just need to rep ORD for being my OG airport taking me to China lol. Most midwestern states and even some southern states don’t have international and they actually typically all transfer at OHare. I actually live in Iowa now (don’t judge me I’m trying to leave 😅) and all international flights have to transfer at OHare!!
Columbia University’s area has changed a lot in regard to stores, etc. Tons of new asian stores in a short period of time, etc.
Asian income range is hitting Costco's sweet spot.
They may not love us, but they love our money.
Have u been to Idaho falls Costco not many Asian but prices are wild 😅😅😅
It's presenting significant challenges up here in Canada. Our Asian populations are growing at the same rate as the US, but our population is a tenth the size. This means these enclaves are resisting integration, they're not learning the languages, and division and friction are a result. This is exacerbating the housing crisis, which is taking us down a very difficult road to come back from.
Wow! I would love to check out this Costco! My Costco has some Asian food too. I love kimchi with my homemade white cheddar mac and cheese. It's good!!
Koreans like to throw anything with kimchi and cheese.
Simple, Asian culture is grinding for a better life that’s why we have the biggest increase in America
Our religion is money.. it worked until it didn’t. Then we were humiliated by white people for past couple of hundreds of years but we making comeback now.
Not just Socal, Seattle Metro too and Maryland.
Agree with the Ave in UW. When I was an undergrad in 2010, there were only Thai and pho spots. Now it's like 50% Chinese spots.
You should do a video on what makes Asian people choose US over, say, France, Germany, New Zealand etc
less strict, more diversity, more opportunity...?
Greater prestige of the institutions, probably. Earned or unearned lol
Because of English
They take English as 2nd language
I know many Asian students who study in Australia and uk plus Canada
The pre-WWII and WWII connection of China with the U.S.A. via the British was the reason my Dad favored the U.S.A. over Germany. Being a POW for a while in northern Germany shortly after the start of WWII during the brutal winter of 1939-1940 triggered trepidation about "walking on ice upon the river."
Another reason was "Germany is not an 'immigrant' country."
I remember i freaked out when "keem" or the crunchy seaweed laver, was detected in costco...was a big deal. Now asian food expanded like crazy (near rowland heights & la habra & cypress at least). Asians LOVE costco because Asian love good price for quality products (money is worth it with the amazing costco peace of mind returns). I bet they have a huge asian membership demographic
Similar situation in 🇨🇦 (Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal)
You can add Calgary in to the list as well now.

Funny how whites cant say the same thing about there race.
Midwest is far from international airports except for Minneapolis, Minnesota and Chicago, Illinois, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Cleveland, Ohio and formerly Detroit,Michigan.
You forgot Kansas City International Airport.
Not in my Costco in Dallas! Wish I had the Cali Costco!
Sup guys. Can we have some vids introducing non Asian Americans perspective or experience with Asians on any type of level. I think it would help the platform bring in more people to generate more dynamic discussions. Cheers.
This is interesting. What are your thoughts / perspective on this trend?
I agree. As an Asian, having that perspective will be interesting and revealing.
Cooking broccoli stems... LMAO 😅😅😅
In the Midwest Asians tend to live mostly near major college towns or largest metro areas (same story as mostly everywhere else in the US). In the large Midwest Metro Areas there are direct flights to Asia outside of Chicago and major Asian chains/restaurants such as H-Mart, Bambu, Kura-Sushi, Kung Fu Tea, etc. In some of the large suburban cities; the Asian population has either doubled or tripled in population where now almost 25% of the population and if you look at the school district the % of Asian students is between 40-50% which potentially means those cities will become even more Asian. One of the reasons for why typically Asians aren't in the Midwest are economic. There are some exceptions but the Midwest population has been stagnant due to deindustrialization and not being able to shift into diversifying economy enough and with that there are the issues of brain drain where students will graduate and leave the region.
Kung fu tea???
I’ve never heard of that before
Hey, don't leave out the metro Chicago region!!
I’m from Montana 😂 we have many of the items from level 1-3 but not all
There aint no Asian rolls in Detroit. The only Asians I see are at Somerset Collection Mall (a high end mall in the suburbs)at the high end side where Gucci, Prada, Balenciaga, etc are at. 🤣🤣🤣
Asians know better than to live in Detroit.
I feel Awesome! Welcome. 🙏 😊 A++
South Asians definitely boomed and probably the largest Asian group in Jersey. After them We have a lot of Filipino, Chinese then probably Vietnamese, Korean.
I can't take spicy food and vinegar as i have a digestive disorder since birth so eat mild spice which i can control myself!!!! I only can eat Thai Pineapple fried rice, the rest i can't!!!! When you suffer from a digestive disorder since childhood but diagnosed too late to totally correct it!!!!
You need to see an Indian or Filipino gastroenterologist.
The weather has a lot to do with why Asians don't move to the Midwest

I love getting snacks from Trader Joes and bring them to share with people when I'm visiting my home country in SEA. They love the dark chocolate stuff lol
Out of all races Asians in America increase property value, economic growth, safe and stable environments, higher test scores and increase stability in any city.
Please debate me on this if you think otherwise.
then why aren't Asians respected!? by others
@@Buydaa.M because we are push overs and allow ourselves to be bullied mentally and physically. Asian American millennials are mostly raised by weak self hating boomers. Hope the next generation will get wiser.
@@Buydaa.M Because they're a threat to prevailing narratives on race while simultaneously being a competitor to the majority population. Both whites and blacks end up feeling some animosity; obviously, those lower on the totem pole are going to be more hostile towards others success.
I'd probably also have to say that in America we put a premium on social dominance. Being able to being socially adept, witty and forceful--even superficially--is respected.
@@Buydaa.M
It may be that Asians often assume a low profile. My Mom said that our family's history was 清白, (that means "clean and white," *non-polluted* ) I wondered how that had mattered. It was because of the hyper-political nature of Communist rule. It may be in some ways similar to the racial purity ideology of the Nazis regarding the Aryan race. Keep one's head down to avoid it being chopped off by a political enemy.
Danville CA Costco is level 5
only in certain states where Costco is catering to larger Asian population like California, Hawaii, New York, Washington, etc
Primary increase came from Indian software engineers and their families. Those areas correlate to tech industry center (Bay area, Seattle and NY).
Well, since Native American ancestry originates from East Asia and Siberia, America becoming more Asian is actually bringing it closer to it’s original composition.
But their DNA is different now.
But you know the cultural foundation is northern European it doesn't mean much now to people but the northern Europeans were the most enlightened and allowed for freedoms Asia only dreamed about
There’s little genetic similarity tbh

Having been born and raised here (Pnw) I have seen a meteoric rise in the seattle Asian community here…we always had a large community but it’s getting to California levels in the last decade and it’s not all just prairie daisies folk since we make things extremely competitive. I think Californian Asians would understand this I have lived in LA before myself. Asian communities tend to stagnate local economies in the long term and drive up costs and take away middle class opportunities because we tend to have a hoarder mentality. In Asia it’s overpopulated with limited resources and they all want the same things. So yes we may not commit crimes do well in school have great food & merch…but I’m afraid that too much of a good thing can throw off that delicate balance that makes America the land of opportunities that it once was and is fast losing. It’s important that we preserve the American way of life, the pursuit of individual happiness and giving back.
I'm korean but I love Vietnamese food, but I think is also because it has this reputation of "health food" here.

I don't think Asian products becoming more available is just a matter of the proportion of Asian genes, etc. increasing, but also just other non-Asian groups (mainly and especially white people, also Hispanics to a lesser degree) starting to like the stuff more and buying it themselves as well. Honestly though, I would say that overall the country is becoming culturally less "Asian" in spirit (according to the values actual Asian-majority countries have) as more infinite indiscriminate illxgal immxgration from the entire world becomes more and more extreme and mandatory and unstoppable, since the majority of the world has almost polar opposite culture and values as rich East Asians the countries and cultures they and their ancestors created (and the groups the most opposite are precisely the ones incentivized to come in the largest numbers, and specifically coming disproportionately from the worst criminal, etc. elements of those countries that even those countries don't want), and things keep devolving into this crazy anarcho-tyranny dystopian cyberpunk/Mad-Max/Judge-Dredd/Robocop hellhole type direction.
So the increase in popularity of East Asian culture in specific among non-Asian groups is partially a reaction to that I think, in people who look to rich countries in the Far East as the polar opposite of the US in terms of ideology and values, and wish they lived in a country more cohesive and stable and law-abiding and high-IQ and clean and safe like those ones.
Your last paragraph did a great job summarizing the attitude a lot of disaffected whites have towards the liberal world order, and their disenchantment with what they're regularly told are "good things, actually" when it comes to social mores and public conduct in the West.
True
But in Corporate America we don't get the management jobs and are ignored.

Nope, you will get more Chinese.
It's deeper than just Asian people. The West has been creeping towards Asian-ness for the past two centuries. In particular, during the Enlightenment, many thinkers in the West looked at China with its meritocratic bureaucracy and its examination system, and thought this would be a great way to replace their own nepotistic aristocracy. Beforehand, in European universities, exams didn't matter, and education was seen as a form of personal tutoring and mentorship. Now, try getting a good education without having to take a test. And we wonder why Asians do so well in certain capacities in the West - they invented those capacities.
But are never given credit.
@@HarmonyHorizon-im3pqExactly. Since the end of the Bronze Age, China was basically the heart of Eurasia's economy and technological innovation flowed from East to West. The printing press, the compass, gunpowder, paper, silk, the crossbow, porcelain ... and certain ideas as well.
