    For me this so much more than a guitar lesson.

    In natural minor I tend to visualize everything on the fretboard in terms of the relative major. In that scheme, where the tonic is written as the vi and the bIII Is written as the I, the harmonic minor seventh chords look like this:
    IM7#5
    iim7
    III7
    IVM7
    V°7
    vimM7
    viim7b5

    Another great lesson. So enlightening to know where these chords come from and how they are built. And, by the way, the evolution in the style of the videos is very nice. The graphics are much more clear and easy to follow now. And the split screen effect is very helpful as well. Keep up the good work.

(7 years now). I must say your series has really opened my eyes to a whole new world on guitar. The theory, which a lot of books makes complicated, you are the true solution! I have been looking for this video for years. I'd like to comment on the section where you were explaining why you were going fast and feeling slightly bad about it. There are very, very few courses on youtube ( that are any good) for intermediate players. I already had all the theory training to understand this without a blink or hesitation, but I couldn't find it after years of looking, someone to just walk through building the chords, with the screenshottable graphics that were really nicely made. The same thing happens with intermediate foreign language speakers, who have learned on the street, but can only find extreme beginners or extreme advanced lessons. I am very subscribed now and will go through all your lessons but really wanted to say thank you thank you.

      If I was listening in 1 year i ll be ready
      So I re invent the wheel 😂
      Like he said you have to learn how to create a triad three notes.
      Basically let say you skip 1 note and play the next like C D bE F G bA B
      So C bE G that s what we call triad
      Than D F bA etc etc and just play note by note 1st
      on the same string just to get the taste of the sound
      After that go for his full lesson
      He is amaising

      Music is a lifetime process

    • @MisterJinglez
      @MisterJinglez Před 9 dny

      It’s okay, harmonic minor is a bit of an advanced concept. You can begin to understand it only after knowing the chords of the major scale which isn’t as difficult as it sounds :)
      Basically a set of notes like CDEFGABC (c major scale) allow you to make chords by taking note, skipping a note, taking a note, skipping a note. (The first, the third, and the fifth) When you do that for all of them it creates your chords for C major. But for your purposes, I would just try to memorize the major scale sequence of
      1major, 2minor, 3minor, 4major, 5major, 6minor, 7diminished
      Once you know that you can learn about the 3 minors and their purposes. Because as you’ll learn, altering one note in the scale will change the set of chords and their polarity in a progression

    There is one thing i dont understand if my guitar is tuned a whole step down do i need to play all the chords a whole step down also ?

    • @soundguitar
      @soundguitar  Před 3 lety +1

      If all your strings are tuned a whole step down you can just play it like normal and everything you play will technically be a whole step down but you can still think of it in standard tuning if that's what you're used to. If you play other people though or are using chord symbols to read off of then you need to transpose what you're playing thinking a whole step up. Do if the chord symbol says C then you need to play a D shape to play a C chord, but thinking that way only matters if you're needing to have the correct labels. Playing on your own you can just play whatever as a normal guitar. Does that answer the question? Let me know if not. Thanks! -Jared
