Several years ago I had a giant oscar fish that got too big for my tank. Petsmart said they would take it and keep it as their pet in a display tank. I went in later and they had it for sale for $60. It kept eating the other fish. 😂

i went yesterday and there were 2 fancy goldfish in about a 10 gallon tank and the workers said they have to be in a 29 gallon for one?
Maggie Grace the reason they need to be in a 29 gallon is because that’s how much they need to accommodate them when they’re fully grown. Unfortunately, and this is with almost all pet stores, we don’t realistically have the space to keep them in that size of tank. At the size we get them, they’re fine in a 10 gallon until purchased. We won’t sell to anyone who has less than a 29 because even if they say they’re going to upgrade in the future, we have no way of knowing they’re actually going to.
Dude you guys clearly don’t have animals. My 2 guinea pigs have a 2 ft cage that they NEVER want to leave. The bigger the cage, the more space they have and the more space they have, the more exposed and unsafe they feel. Guinea pigs are animals that like to hide under things a lot and sometimes my guinea pigs spend most of the day just standing still under their shelter. I would rather spend less money on a smaller cage if I got more guinea pigs.
I can't go into that store.... I'll be stuck in there from looking at the kittens

Omg that Petsmart is WAY bigger and cleaner than the one I work at lol it's an endless struggle every day for our entire crew to try keeping everything clean and organized in the proper places because we get all of our customers for the day all at the same time, so while were busy on the floor helping customers and running the registers, the remaining customers who aren't asking for help or ready to cash out are spending their entire shopping experience picking as much stuff up off the shelves and then just putting it back wherever when they're done.
We can start the day with an immaculate, totally organized store and by the end of the day, we all have to walk down each aisle systematically putting everything that someone decided to pick up back in it's proper place. 😡
It's like fighting a losing battle lol or pissing into the wind. 😂
I feel bad for the beardies at 4:52 :( that is too small everything is cramped and on top of eachother i work at petco and that is unacceptable, we treat our animals better than theirs
I work at a different pet smart and that shocked me. It truly depends on location but someone broke some rules there. Thats definitely not normal. Kudos to both of us for dealing with dumb coworkers
@@firefly2090 yea no i can relate bcz I actually work at Petco lol but i see so much hate between petco and petsmart. About animals, like i keep seeing comments on Petco’s Instagram about animals being thrown in dumpsters…. But like i like to say that its not true unless if whichever store that is, honestly doesn’t care. My store is amazing and im there all the time so i see whats going on but honestly what heartless soul would throw out animals… i hace the best team tbh
@@jacobaltman102 yeah we've never thrown animals away at my location but I worked at a different store one week because they were understaffed and I truly saw some of the issues with that store. Having a good pet care area is truly up the the staff that works there.

Where I'm from you can't buy dogs and cats at pet stores, so I'we always wondered what that would look like. Also my country is pretty small, so the pet stores are also pretty small and I wanted to see what pet stores in other countries looked like. Thank you, this has been very informative. I'm kind of sad you didn't show bunnies and dogs tho :(
They don’t sell dogs and some of them don’t sell rabbits.
@Nova Productions True, on the other hand tho, it's a lot harder to get a dog here. There are very few stray dogs like the most dogs I've seen in one shelter at the same time is 17 (there are usually more cats tho) and most of those dogs are old and almost 100% mutts (not purebread lol) so if you want a specific breed here or even a puppy you have to pay ungodly amounts of money to a breeder, for example we had to search for a while to find the breed we wanted, payed 700 euros (not even an expensive breed) which is insane, we had to drive for hours to get there and the conditions for dogs weren't all that great there either, so be careful what you wish for.
Now imagine you want a more exotic animal and they stop selling them in stores, there is absolutely no chance to get one at a shelter, I've never even seen a ferret in a shelter, much less a turtle, a bird or anything else for that matter so if you can't get it in a store, tough luck, you're gonna spend thousands, drive for hours or have it shipped to you with the risk of it dying on the way. You have to turn a blind eye on the trade if you wanna reep the benefits.
