I love how they change things up with every cast rather than trying to find people who look and sound similar to the original. It is fun to see everyone’s take on the characters.
His voice is so clear!! I genuinely thought he was autotuned, until I watched another video of the performance taken from the audience and he sounded exactly the same!!!
I wouldn't have noticed in either version without this comment. Listening to both it is much clearer in this version. It really does strengthen those lines.
@@cgt9056 you're kidding right??...... Many people do it, from movie stars to Broadway stars 😂😂 I think the accent is cool but for you to say " can't get rid of an accent you've had all your life that easily " is just you making excuses
I saw her as Angelique on Broadway twice & there is a certain way she portrays her roles that are just fantastic like Lillias is amazing as Lady Hermes but there is just something extra with Melanie’s Hermes that is just amazing!!! 😁😁😁😁
My poor Orpheus looked like he was having an anxiety attack 😭😭 Hope he's doing well, his portrayal of the love of Orpheus is the best I've everr seen. Much love to everyone, and peace ❤
So, the one armed ensemble member was in the show when it was in London before the Broadway run. I remember seeing it on its last night at the National Theatre.
Okay, I love LOVE the subtle additions and changes of the ending. First, the marimba/xyliohone like instrument playing the argeggio through the first of the double chorus section… then when Eurydice is singing her line and the PERCUSSION
i once did a production with Grace... so happy that she is breaking through !!! She was always such a kind and pleasant girl and so incredibly talented !! Will never forget how wonderful it was to play alongside her ! I wish her all of the best and i am so so happy to see her doing such amazing things. She is so incredibly gifted
@@Dirgimzib Yes the Bway Cast does has its diversity but Fate 3 (Allie Daniels) is Trans & also covers Hermes as the Understudy, Grace is mixed, There is an Amputee cast member as Ensemble & so many more. There is more to diversity than just Race & Ethnicity 💙
Allie Daniel as the 3rd Fate is getting a lot of special mentions and deservedly so, but I’m truly obsessed with the way Bella Brown as the 1st Fate does the line “Who are you to lead them?” Not only does she sing it sublimely, there’s something about the way she looks at Orpheus that conveys pure malice. Gives me chills every time!
i’m actually sobbing i love this so much. also i love how in the cast there’s a visible disability and there’s a trans woman. you don’t see stuff like that so much, even in such a notably inclusive place like theater. also persephone is absolutely stunning and this new cast overall is incredible. i’ll literally swim across the atlantic ocean if i have to to watch this.
The fact that one of the chorus members, which is a heavier dance role, has a limb difference is amazing as a disabled woman who didn’t see a single visibly disabled person in musical theatre growing up. I remember openly sobbing as I watched Ali Stroker receive the Tony for Oklahoma since I knew it meant today’s disabled theater kids would be less likely to be told that no one want to see a disabled (insert character name) when they audition for a part.
@@samanthanotsamiam8404 beth hinton-lever (the woman with the limb difference) is also an understudy for eurydice which will be lovely to see!!!! & allie daniel is an understudy for hermes. as much as i absolutely ADORE the main cast, i'd love to see those two in these roles too!
Saw this in London yesterday and was blown away by the vocals. Just listened to the cast recording and it just doesn’t capture the raw visceral performances that this cast are bringing to the material.
Is the amputee company member here the same one form the London production all the way back from 2019? I remember that being such a striking image in that bootleg
Apparently (this was confirmed by their Hermes, Melanie La Barrie) that its just for promotion to kind of give the hype of the newest production of Hadestown or something like that
I love how they change things up with every cast rather than trying to find people who look and sound similar to the original. It is fun to see everyone’s take on the characters.
This is why I love hadestown, it's not a molt to fit, it's a story to tell
Hell yeah - that's an amazing Hermes getting it done
Shout out to the male ensemble member doing the lower harmony riffs starting at 1:08 when singing "show the way" gave me 𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕝𝕝𝕤!!

Sameee, I loved that part, it’s simple but it adds so much to the song
I wouldn't have noticed in either version without this comment. Listening to both it is much clearer in this version. It really does strengthen those lines.
First thing I heard listening to this again a month later without remembering this at all.
I've a funny feeling this is the alternate for Hades, I got to see him last Thursday as Hades and he was fantastic
the way fate no. 3 delivered😮💨. Perfection👌
Thats Allie Daniels!! 😁😁😁
Allie is 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽 top tier

This is the strongest Hadestown cast I've seen in a long time, and these Fates are absolutely SERVING.
Oh, I hope they keep the Hades/Orpheus handshake, what a subtle but meaningful addition/change!
Not an addition, it's done on Broadway too
@@emalaw1329 The handshake is more one-sided on Broadway. Here both Orpheus and Hades are clearly interested and genuine, instead of just Orpheus.
Yes it’s kept like this on the west end
Happens in the west end show, it was quicker than this but I absolutely loved it :)
I love this entire cast but Melanie is just a force of nature! I love her Hermes
It really comes down to these actors understanding the spirit of these charters, and she brings such a flavor to Hermes.
I saw her as Angelique on Broadway twice & there is a certain way she portrays her roles that are just fantastic like Lillias is amazing as Lady Hermes but there is just something extra with Melanie’s Hermes that is just amazing!!! 😁😁😁😁

I've heard people saying it's definitely going to happen, also since Anais Mitchell is rewriting some lyrics.

Glad to see them bring people back from the original London Run! Especially for the ensemble
She kills! It also makes the fact that hadestown bleeds the workers dry hits harder
I think what I love most about Hadestown in general is that the diversity while not a main „point“ in the plot still holds symbolical significance.
that fate trio is CRAZYYYYYYYYYY good wowie
Fate #3 at 2:02 gave me CHILLS
Facts, female tenors are probably the rarest vocal type but wow does she sound cool
allie daniel is the most delightful ever i think

As a percussionist thanks for the appreciation ^^ we go noticed but completely unpraised too often
I really, really hope that this musical gets the longevity of Wicked.

The bass in the ensemble just adds another layer of depth through the riffs that we never knew we needed.
Broadway needs this diversity!! The amount of representation here is incredible and missing in the NYC production!
Seems to me in this case they just casted the best
They really should!!
Isn't the current BWay cast fairly diverse? Most are non-white except for Eurydice (1/4 Chinese tho), Persephone, and 2 out of 5 of the main workers.

Eurydice's voice or something with her mic is so aethereal and perfect and vast it almost sounds like it could be sung by a ghost
If they aren't spinning in a circle while singing is it even Hadestown?
Why does Eyuridice 's part at the end make me tear up??
(squints) Is it just my bad eyesight or does Orpheus look kind of like Aemond Targaryen? I think it's the cheekbones.
i mean a bit, but he does also play mat cauthon on wheel of time which kinda fits that fantasy vibe
