He he heads an autonomous church. These are the sister autocephalos churches. Autonomous church''s must have their chief hierarch confirmed by their mother church which should be the same situation with the OCA because Moscow's unilateral grant of autocephaly upon the Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Metropolia was not upon the largest Eastern Orthodox jurisdiction in North America and it was upon a continent with many jurisdictions. The OCA remained canonical but is not a sister among the Holy Orthodox Churches.
mistake at end unufry not epiphanios

@@UnionBetweenChristians There is only one canonical Orthodox Church in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, with Metropolitan Onufriy holding the title of the Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine. The Orthodox Church of Ukraine is NOT canonical, it is a schismatic group. Orthodox are not Protestants where we can just break away and form our own churches, a church must be recognized. Furthermore, Patriarch Bartholomew had no business interfering and making such decisions alone. As the former Serbian Patriarch Irinej put it: there must be a council to meet and discuss the legitimacy of the so-called Orthodox Church of Ukraine

Not at all. Epiphanios is the canonical prelate of the Ukrainian church, not Onuphry.
