  • I asked Mark Stone of Stone Surf Designs if he'd be interested to do a casual video talking about asymmetrical waveboards. Mark is a very humble and down to earth guy and usually doesn't like a lot of attention however we managed to get it done and here is the result! Hope you enjoy it, the Stone's are a classic surf family that are well respected in the Geraldton community.

Thats reminds me of the Wave Warrior custom boards back in the 90's here in The Netherlands, shaped by Fred Dijselbloem and partner.
We copyed a strapper session into a custom setup dual fin. So cool to ride. And all polyster build very light and so smooft riding.
Back the boards were pretty expensive but nowadays its totally grazy prices here for the starboards ect....you pay like around 2600 usd.
Awesome video again Paul. Really love this old and new skool board tech talk 🤙 Hangloose from The Netherlands and keep on riding.

Such a great video. I'm actually going to watch it again some time. I love listening to what shapers have to say, I've really developed a greater love and slightly more understanding of boards over the last 4 years I'd say. My wife says for each extra board I get, she'll get another animal. I have 11 at the moment. The interviews with people like this in a relaxed way is just so good. More please Paul 😋

I thought it would be a tad long when I saw the running time, but then I played it, it was super interesting and informative and it felt almost too short ! I loved it, Mark Stone sounds like a passionnate no bullshit kind of guy. I like that he wants to stick to what he loves (wave shapes) and doesn´t feel obliged to get involved in areas of windsurfing he has no connection with 👍

so well done, meaning the documentary style. Thx. Interesting character/shaper: for me echos from another continent over the decades...but someone always challenging dogma/established paradigms and spot on regarding widespread conservatism and reluctance to experiment. Asy shapes make total sense when you have a dominant wind direction or simple preference, never really went away but can't get my hands on them 2nd hand :)

They a couple of guys in Italie and Tarifa making carbon booms, a couple of fins makers too.
5 oceans build really cool sail in France, bullsails in Tarifa and teiva sails in the south of France. I'm sure they is a lot more it appears to be a lots less common than board shaper .

We get both tacks in equal measure here, but for those places with fixed trade patterns these things look good. I like his thinking about fins and waterflow. That kind of hydro engineering mindset is what makes awesome windsurfing equipment.
