    Go fund me to help him rebuild gofund.me/d97c...
    Today we are back on the Chicken Truck. I'm going to be attempting to tig weld in the door bottom. Then there is lots of hammer and dolly work and I use the proshaper shrinking disk again. Things go horribly sideways and I'm left scrambling to make a recovery

    Your kind words for a fellow craftsman and tuber are well meant, and will go along way to all our healing in such a tragic loss in our community. Nothing but time, and a whole lot of self reflection will heal that wound. In my experience, there is very little in the way of " general" public, I prefer to love them all but they gotta stay away. there's already to many around, and there aren't many in the way of general. being a dark and angry sort, 😀😀 it's just best if I care for them at a distance. We are all here way to short of a time, to cause difficulties for others. I prefer to keep to my own misery's and let other to theirs. We all are a ways apart, but not so far we don't share a common goal, cause as ya all know, no one is gonna escape this place alive. Be well. Nice door. 😇

  • @briquetaverne
    @briquetaverne Před rokem +6

    Kyle, That was a very kind prelude opening to your channel you did today on behalf of Brent at Half Ass Kustoms. I too mentioned that he'd had a terrible fire on some of the other car restoring shows of CZcams right after he published his episode about the fire. I further mentioned that I'd sent money to help him and perhaps other viewers like myself could chip in to help him get back on his feet? I was stunned by some of the angry and apathetic comments, most notably stating that he most certainly had insurance and if he didn't have insurance he was stupid, so why should they put their hands into their pockets for him? I was saddened to read about the indifference and tried to explain in other comments that when insurance companies deal with vehicles, they take the value of the car when it was new then depreciate it for insurance claim recoveries. So it doesn't matter if a Model "T" for example was made into a hot rod that might be worth $10,000€. When it was new, it sold for $725€ and it's depreciation value today would become $40€ Euro/dollars to the insurance company unless there was a special insurance rider exactly for that car. I urge other commenters to give something to HalfAss Kustom's Go-Fund-Me link, it's easy and even if it's only $10-€-£-or 1340 JPY, it will help him out.

    • @CarterAutoRestyling
      @CarterAutoRestyling  Před rokem +2

      What you said about insurance is very true. Sorry to hear that there were negative people replying to your comments. My experience is that for every person who leaves a bad comment, there are hundreds, if not thousands who will silently do the right thing.

    • @TCW-hw6iw
      @TCW-hw6iw Před rokem

      The insurance company(if their feeling real generous) will probably in the end only pay about 40% of the true value of his loss. Don't forget, this man Brent probably built a lot of his own specialty tools, not to mention scrounged parts, gifts etc. ad nauseum. Maybe Brent will get lucky and have a weekend motorhead do the appraisal, someone who 'knows' cars and rods. To the people who are carping about donating, just don't.... and keep your insensitive crap to yourself.

    I don't know what kind of a deal you have with your insurance company, but as a part timer I can't afford to insure my tools. My building is insured but the insurance company wants 10% of the value of my tools per year as a premium. I'm in my 50's now and if i had paid that premium I would have paid for my tools at least 3 times over.

To be honest, give me hammer, and everything looks like a nail. But I do try, on dolly hammer, off dolly, listening to different sound. Fear of stretching. I try to absorb everything from you, Cold War Motors, Halfass Kustoms. And several more. But honestly, you can buy all the high dollar kits, if you don't know how metal reacts, your just making it worse.

      True! The fancy tools just do a faster job of making a mess if they are in the wrong hands!

    I have found by watching you go to a high standard this raises my standard. I'm still shit, but a bit better than I would have been.
    Thank you.

    thanks for uploading another great video Kyle. your review of the shrinking disc was also very valuable, especially the comment about using water to cool the panel verses allowing things to cool naturally. thanks for sharing your knowledge.

    It's really funny to metal finish a weld on a door that looks like something kids would shoot with a .22 for an afternoon fun time. :D
