Yes you can. You couldn't do it in the 1980's, but I said the game should be *modded,* or, more specifically, the rom for this game should be modded.
You don't have to play an NES game on the console, there are emulators for it.

101ToonLink That isn't true. A NES ROM can be any size. If you had an EverDrive, then yes, it would work. You would have to work around _memory_ limitations (eg, loading sections of the song one by one rather than the whole song), but _space_ issues on a cartridge are not a problem.
101ToonLink Someone already tried this. And they received a C&D. A ROM hack is the best way, it really is. Easier and more likely to stay up.

I just think that age is irrelevant in the gaming world. If you act mature while gaming online, you deserve respect. If you play only one game, then whatever. If you played LoZ before anything else at a young age, congrats. No one really cares about age boundaries. Most people don't get a chance to play it because it's an old game that is very expensive these days. That's pretty much it.
