What if your favorite tunes from Zelda II: The Adventure of Link... had lyrics?
Special thanks to Dave Bulmer for providing his pleasing English baritone voice for the epilogue narration. Check out his awesome video game music videos and more at / demontomatodave
Also, special thanks to my friend Matt for waking me up in time to get the exterior shots, as well as his fine cinematography skills.
And finally, a VERY VERY SPECIAL THANKS to Ben Ambroso and Drew Bramlett for literally CREATING the Link costume for me with only a day's notice. Sorry about the ears, fellas, we had some technical difficulties and were racing against the weather. You are both true lifesavers!
------------------------
LYRICS:
Link! You're on the alert again
So put on your skirt again!
Get ready to fight till it hurts
Have a nap, take a squirt, Begin!
Another adventure through the countryside!
Kicking some ass! Kicking some ass, Kicking some ass!
The baddies are on the rise since Ganon died
Stay off the grass! Stay on the road, get off the grass!
The yellow road is your priority, you're sorta like Dorothy... MAN UP!
You'll have to fight your shadow hand to hand (Again, just like Peter Pan)
There will be rats (radical rats!) with boomerangs
Link, is that your wang?
Hyrule is strange, every new game it changes,
the map rearranges and I don't know where to go
Zelda is comatose, maybe she overdosed,
by the way what happened to your bow?
Here we go now
Link you are patrolling, sidescrolling, and Ganon's trolling
Sure, this title's clunky and funky, but look, a monkey!
You must gain XP (In P bags) Like an RPG (Yes, P bags)
Still though, run away (la la la) From the KKK, what the fff-
Link! Go stab a statue so that you can heal your ass dude
Don't whine that it's harder, you martyr, now go walk on water!
Learn to thrust up and down, visit a tiny town,
This lady gives you care, what does she do in there?
You get an extra life from Zelda merchandise, now go forth,
your adventure is nigh!
You shall go to Death Mountain, fly fly!
It's called Death Mountain 'cause you will DIE.
Why is this part so hard, Jesus WHY?
But not halfway as hard as the end
Just expect to get buttraped my friend
'Cause your shadow is set to attack
He knows all of your moves, plus he's black!
He might be Ganon's ghost but you have to persevere
(Believe me)
Or just use this here
(Game Genie)
Link you must prevail
(For Zelda)
Link you must not fail, now go!
[SPOKEN EPILOGUE]
So once again you've saved your countrymen from certain death
Your sleeping beauty is awake but watch out, morning breath
You will have more daring escapades,
Challenges along the way
Maybe you will learn to play the flute some other day
But for now
Look buddy you saved the world
Yeah buddy you got the girl
You did really great! Celebrate, have a date, procreate,
Link you win!
YEAAH!!!
-----------------------------
So there are two jokes in this song that really make me cringe nowadays and I'm sorry I wrote them. The first is when I compare the difficulty of Death Mountain to being sexually assaulted. Back in 2010, this felt acceptably "edgy" but I now see that it was NOT and is not an okay topic for humor. Also, the line about Link's shadow, "he knows all of your moves, plus he's black." At the time, I thought this was pretty clever, and I justified it with the fact that the old man is saying it, and old men are racist. I also thought back then that making fun of the KKK made up for it. But nowadays, I see the harmful implications of this joke and I wish I hadn't written it. If you find this video to be nostalgic, that's fine, but please know that I don't stand by these jokes nowadays. - Hry
1:53 "Don't whine it's harder"
2:20 Whines about it being harder
1:18 I always sing this part when I play the temple stage in smash bros melee.
you to?
+Chris Gahr me too, it's one of the best parts of the video.
YOU MUST GAIN EXP!
(from P-bags)
LIKE AN RPG!
(yes, P-bags...)
Still though run away,
(la la la)
from the KKK
(what the fu-)
Don't whine that it's harder, you martyr, now go walk on water!
Plus he's black is the best line
lmao and of course he fucking apologized for it
A decade or so later and i still have to sing all your lyrics when i play any zelda game
The TNMT cartoon theme song reference "Radical Rats!" Kills me every time...thanks for the nostalgia, this was always my favorite Zelda game. Only where I really enjoyed, even as a kid.
"why is this part so hard?"
cause it's called DEATH MOUNTAIN...
If anything, why is death mountain so easy in most of the games.
PLAY ZELDA FRICKIN 2
the__wolf What do you mean?
I played through the entirety of Zelda II...
I finished all the Zelda's at 100% by now.
Just brat death mountain 2 weeks ago on my 2nd try it wasnt as hard as people say in my opinion the road to the great palace is harder
Also beat the game yesterday
the__wolf he said most of the games, probably excluding this one
That's got to be Dave Bulmer reading the text after Link beats Dark Link. This must be Dave's first appearance in any Brentalfloss with lyrics I would think. This brings me to another question. Immediately after that, Brent goes into a nice 2-part harmony that culminates with "there will be more daring escapades/challenges along the way/maybe you will learn to play the flute some other day." while showing various clips of classic Zelda games. I LOVE that part, it's one of my favorite moments in all his videos and inspired me to play A Link to the Past about 4 years ago, all the way through and beat it (which took at least a month) since I had never really made a dent in it before. My question is, we know how well Dave does a capella harmonies. Did Dave have a hand in helping Brent create that 2 part harmony that followed Dave's part?
billny33 I just came to this video after thinking the same thing about Dave being at the end, while watching the video for the first game, hoping to find the answer in the description. I reckon you're right.
billny33 He is.
billny33 omg yea wow
It literally says it's him in the description
THE LOREE
12 years later. Still a classic
Best weirdo ever
this is 10 times funnier as a 17 year lol i get more of the jokes
P L U S H E ' S B L A C K
Yeah I remember watching this when I was like 7.. didn’t really get any of the jokes back then
We’re twenty years old man. This is insane
I still don’t know what p bags are
I was 20 then... Still enjoy this jokes
To this day (2019), whenever I play Hyrule Temple in Smash (Ultimate), me and my brother break into song.
This song is a legend tbh
@@Literally-Brian
INDEED~
It's nice to know people still remember it fondly!
Why do I get the feeling that Brent tends to walk around going "I'm an old man and I wear a fancy robe..." even when not on camera?
Guys ... this song came out before Hyrule Historia ... so I think y'all should give him a break.
Zelda 2 is the last game in the timeline though.
no it's not the last but it is the last link from the first 2 games between world hapend after
Makmak Jerem I don't think so A Link Between Worlds happened not too long after A Link to the Past while these two games came hundreds of years later. Zelda 2 ends the hero fails timeline as of right now.
the fail time line strats with to the past and 3/4 hunderd years after that you get the between worlds so it's probably after 2 but it's a different link anyway so it doesn't matter
gycio silver The map couldn't change that much and then change back...defies disbelief too much even for Zelda.
Breath of the Wild is now the last game in the timeline.
"Plus he's black" XD
It's always nice to come back to this classic.
THIS IS THE SECRET TO KILL SHADOW LINK: corner crouch mode
Use the power glove!
Watching this again is a trip down memory lane when I would watch these non-stop. I know the lyrics by heart. Keep up the kick ass work Brent! This is art.
I think this was the first Brentalfloss video I've seen. It's been a while and I've heard alot of his kickass songs, good to know it started here.
Zelda games? In chronological order? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
back in the times where you had to buy a magazine to get past the next part in games, yes chronological order
009fan1 Chronological order went out the window as early as Link to the Past, which was dubbed a prequel, and Ocarina was dubbed a prequel to that.
Baigandine L And Skyward Sword, Minish Cap, and Four swords were prequels to Ocarina of Time. And in that order as well.
@@baigandinel7956 It is though.
I actually fully understand.
I'll get killed, but... zelda II is my favourite zelda ●_●
The level of challenge and precision is just not there in other zelda games, yes, it WAS hard, but you would feel AWESOME when you completed a palace after all that hard work! That sense of satisfaction is the best reason to play this game.
You don't like Zelda then, Now do yoy
jeez, man, i LOVE zelda, i've played every game in the series, but this one is just my favourite..... just like how OOT is everyone's favourite
Zelda ll isn't even a real Zelda game, it was just an exparament
It is fun, don't get me wrong but the other Zelda games are better
If they made some more zelda games like this, maybe they could have improved it. I agree this is the most fun zelda, but not the best "Zelda" game.
That was f'n brilliant!
2:03
"What does she do in dar" XD omg wow
You've made many great videos over the years, but I always come back to the Zelda I and II With Lyrics. They're some of my favourites!
So many years... and this video is still glorious!
This was my very first Brentalfloss music video that appeared randomly on the CZcams home screen in the summer of 2011. After watching and having a good laugh from it, I hit the subscribe button and the rest is history. Thank you Brentalfloss for the many years of video game parody/tribute songs and may you add lyrics to so many more. Peace ✌️
1:03 LINK!! IS THAT YOUR WANG?
after 8 years...this is still my favorite one
This takes me way back
Well... technically this is the last game chronologically... at least in one timeline...
There was no official timeline when this video was posted
Nathan Lafary THAT'S NOT AN EXCUSE! How DARE he screw up something that it was impossible for him to know! That's just bad form!
BloodySteel64 lol
If you believe the theories BOTW is the last in the Downfall timeline.
Whoopsy almost fell over there
freaking brilliant, I love it
This is still amazing
2:34 He knows all of your moves. Plus he's black.
I can't tell if that was a racist joke or not. Either way it's funny.
Buddy I'm black and I'm not offended and laughed really hard at that part
man wtf is racist about that, you probably didn't understood the joke at all m8
It's positive racism. He's implying Dark Link is better because he is black. That makes it okay.
i do agree with the fact that people use or think about the word "racism" way too soon.... like when hearing the word "black"
my keyboard is black, who's gonna be racist against my keyboard, huh??
#KeyboardLivesMatter
That ain't racist
So Brentalfloss, how long does it take to find words that cleverly rhyme for these lyrics videos?
This video is so much better than part one that Floss did. Love this one, it is awesome!
I was looking for a walk-through when this came up as a suggestion. I feel inspired.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the second game the last one on the "hero is defeated" timeline.
No. It then goes into the era of dinner, and then the era of excuse me, princess.
No, since Ganon was defeated back in the first LoZ, Link has grown older and Ganons minions want to bring him back by killing Link and spilling his blood over Ganons ashes. -or so I've read from the guide- Link either defeats him or he dies causing Ganon to return but this game is of the hero wins timeline...
Jose Flores Link doesn't defeat Ganon in this game, because he's dead. Also, this is in the hero loses timeline, right at the end.
DrDeathslayer You sure cannot wait to bomb some dodongos
Jose Flores Correct so far,but it is the last from the Hero is Defeated Timeline. It was after A Link to the past, where Ganon (and not Ganondorf,in the Defeated timeline he only has his Pork form) is revived, the same goes afterwards with Oracles games and ditto after with Zelda I,where he's finally killed in the end,and there's the only game where he is apparently definitely slained, and in Zelda II his minions are all killed and thus, preventing (forever?) the Return of Ganon.
Hey brentalfloss, Do A Link To The Past with lyrics!
+Lillian Griffin He did one on Flossophy
I'm pretty sure that even minus the lyrics this is still the most awesome Zelda 2 Temple remix I've ever heard and I demand more, sir.
you know its weird that this is one of my favorite zelda games,... but I guess beating it made me love it more.
THUNNNDEEER BIIIRRDDD
a link to the past with lyrics plz
yes, plz
1UppedGaming IT'S OUT!!!! (Final Fantasy Winning a battle theme plays) gotta love going to old videos and replying to thing's people said years ago.
The nastalgia from this song is real
Man I never get tired of this song. Whenever I hear the dungeon theme, I sing the words in my head. You ruined it for me in a good way! Love this song!
This is the best video you have ever done.
CZcams Classic!
3:04 Did anyone notice the fact that it says "him him" but he only says him once?
I'm ashamed that I never noticed that before. XDDDDDD
I'm in the mood for Zelda 2 and I can't get enough of this song!
I could, but I rarely read the description unless I look for something I suspect may be pointed out there. This was a detail I just happened to hear while rewatching this at a time after Mario Land with Lyrics came out. And I was quite pleased.
Zelda link to the past with lyrics
You should do skyward sword... and mention it's the prequel to everything :V
Fantastic job, Brent! This one was insanely catchy, and was funny to boot! Glad I clicked it. :P
Plus, the end where you almost fell over and looked surprisingly to the camera was hilarious.
cant belive its 10y old. Still love it
Link frightened people when he was in the sunlight? Now I see that the vampires from Twilight weren't the first.
Except we know link is straight
Are we sure? I don't remember Link going out with anyone except maybe Illia from Twilight Princess, but maybe.
TheSebto360 wasn't he almost getting the girl from Link's Awakening too? I mean, it was a dream, but since Link dreams about getting a girl we can tell he's straight
I suppose so, except he didn't which is one thing, another being the fact that he is one Link from one timeline.
Plus if Link's gay, I can ship him with the Ordon mayor.
Damn it Game Grumps!
This one is so frickin' addictive, dude... I can't get it out of my head!
Especially when it gets to the Temple music.
Still such a great classic!!
Love rewatching your Games with Lyrics over and over again Brent, they make me feel good and so nostalgic 😊
If you may be planning making another one in the future, I have not seen that you made one from Battle of Olymus, it was a great game and much alike to Zelda II, dunno if you have played it yet but it's such a great game!
Would love to listen to a "Battle of Olympus with Lyrics" as a Medley, there's bunch of great soundtracks in this game.
Would love to see more vids from you ☺
no matter how many times i watch+listen to this, i keep smiling :D
brentalfloss ftw with his "games with lyrics"
ps. dont forget to subcribe to his channel
*****
i know, if it wasnt, i'd say the name of his channel to let people know
Trollin' FTW
Tristan Phillips
what? if you like trolling, go to places where they are, and enjoy your time there
Kurachi84 It's a reference to his Wii shop with Lyrics video.
Well really, you can cheap Link's Shadow by curling up in a corner and crouch-stabbing, but I guess that wouldn't flow as well.
***** you can also charge him swinging like a madman and never crouching to beat him
This is awesome.
That morning music was beautiful XD
I recently downloaded the rom, and I got to say, it seems to not be that terrible... But, I don't quite know that for sure, seeing as to how I quit almost instantaneous (or instant for peeps that don't want to get too complicated) after just 5 minutes of wandering, trying to figure out where to go. (Note: I was also born *near* the 2000's, making me part of the more modern audience, meaning I am not too well at games that make you think and not make you go "Yeah I get it.", so, I was extremely confused.)
***** Or you laughed at how much they sucked at the game.
A few tips for starting off and learning this game: The game's 'yellow brick road' gives you some kind of direction towards the needed path and often leads you to towns you need to visit along the way. Every town has a wise man that allows you to learn a new magic spell. Many of the wise men are difficult to access. They may be in a house that you can't go into until you fulfill a sidequest for the person guarding the door, or you may need to get on the roof and go down the chimney like Santa. Also, if you don't know where to go next, feel free to roam around the map screen off the path and get into fight screens. You will need to grind to up your life/magic/attack levels so that you can beat the enemies in that next palace.
The map seems big in the beginning but it's really only allowing you access to a small portion of the game's overall map until you accomplish certain objectives. So explore every frontier that's available to you and not walled off. You may find it's not as big as you think. There will be a couple of caves, you will need to find out what's at the end of each. If the cave is too dark and hard to see, try your best to persevere anyway, there will be an early item that will help light these areas up, after you've made it through one of the caves blind. After enough exploring, you should find the first palace. This will put your combat skills to the test for sure. Plus, it's somewhat of a maze with several floors of rooms and dead ends and such. Once you've figured out how to navigate this place, get the item, and beat the boss, then you will feel a bit more like a veteran of the game. Plus, that item that you got in the temple will allow you to make a bit more of a dent into the game's map screen and allow you to progress to an area you couldn't get to before. Eventually, you will find palace 2 and so on. This becomes kind of a standard part of the game.
"He knows all of your moves...plus he's black"... 😂
I love how Dave tells the after story
That painting in the back is one of my favorite pieces of art.
Actually, Zelda II comes last in the Hero of Times Death Timeline. Zelda I comes right before. That explains why Zelda I has a messed up world. Over the course of 6 years, people hid themselves in secret towns.
The "Hero is Dead" timeline branching from OOT is so arbitrary. Such a branch could occur in every Zelda game.
Baigandine L You know I think Nintendo just wants to screw over OoT Link. In one timeline he disappears completely and the world is flooded, in one he dies and the other he lives for the rest of his life filled with regret.
Well damn.. my game is still being dissected but people are still hating on Time?
Did he put a CD into his NES? He's getting old... :D
No.
I love this Game...played it really often
Love it.
Nobody:
Captions: I'm an ass niggas work
wait...... this is the last game in the timeline, "last" has 4 letters, the triforce has 3 parts.....4-3=1 "one" has 3 letters......illuminati symbol has 3 sides......that means.....the illuminati symbol........is......a........TRIANGLE!!!!! =O
No this means half life 3 is confirmed
+Ronan Nangle The Tri-force is made out of three triangles forming a larger triangle.
+Sly Fox Gaming No this means team fortress 3 confirmed
No the illuminati symbol is a owl
Well...makes sense to me!
brilliant just brilliant!
This is awesome! Somebody posted lyrics to this on my Zelda II Palace Theme Acapella vid, so I had to come check it out! I wasn't disappointed ;)
1:42 Love that part. I always thought that they were KKK members.
No need to apologize. South Park has much darker and sicker humor, and it's praised for it.
He probably thinks South Park is inappropriate.
god this was awesome
I'll have you know, that I've watched this video so much that I've memorized it. I love you :D
uhh i beat dark link way to easy he isnt a quarter as hard as thunder bird
***** Yeah! that's a little racist even for you man
the angry video game nerd beat him with the power glove
I like revisiting your songs and i really appreciate the edits you made in the descriptions about the edgy jokes. That's really nice.
Yeah it's nice if you're soft.
awesome video!!!
This is my favorite of the With Lyrics videos.
Yeah no, sorry, this game was still way too hard.
Actually, apparently all you have to do to beat Dark Link is crouch in the left-hand corner and spam the attack button. I tried it, not believing it could be that simple, but it worked!
(Source: ZeldaDungeon)
Andrew Briscese
that's common knowledge though...
M.C. Joans Well, :P to you, then.
Games are supposed to be hard that is why they are a challenge if they made games too easy then why would they make them then? Even Mario games can be hard too when I got Zelda Wind Waker that took me 5 months to complete it in easy mode plus right now I'm currently doing Hero mode and that is hard since ones an enemy is defeated it won't spawn hearts out and I'm on the part with the great Deku tree is
but not halfway as hard as the end!
1:31 When a police officer spots a black person.
THIS. WAS. AWESOME!
Even with all the hilarious lines in brentalfloss's videos over the years, something about "It's called Death Mountain 'cause you will DIE" always gets me.
Because hes black😂😂😂
Love this song as it is and I always will love it XD
This is so good, reminds me of my adolescence :)
For anyone singing along in 2020 who might not be as comfortable with the "butt raped" line anymore, you can substitute it with "just expect a big ass blast, my friend" and you'll keep the vulgarity and the note timing without any of the discomfort of the "R" word. If anyone has any other suggestions feel free to leave them in replies!
This is the best video in the cosmos, prove me wrong
This one is all over the place, but the humor kinda saves it.
Mega Man 2 with Lyrics - badass video from Brent.
pure genius
how do u se the zelda timeline i have seen it but that was my friend showing it can some1 tell me th website?
AWESOME! :D
THIS IS YOUR BEST VIDEO!!!
KICKIN SOME ASS! KICKIN SOME ASS! Kicking some ass! Lol can't get enough of these videos.
My god this is eight years old. How has it been that long
amazing simple as best one
"What does she do in there?"
Beat every other LoZ --- except Skyward Sword and Breadth of the Wild - not buying another console for a single game...
so I had to play this one - and that part in the game made me lmao
this game is far more difficult than the other LoZ games - and its a hell of a lot of fun for what it was
I love that game
