I've been obsessed with building a boosted 4.7, every since i picked up a complete one for cheap. my first thought was one of these blowers or one from a supercoupe tbird or XR7. But I may go single turbo. Not many boosted 4.7s out there, seems like once people build one they just disappear from the internet lol loved the supercharger removal montage, I hope to see it mounted to a 4.7!
You can get quite a few GM/Eaton superchargers out of various models with the 3.8 V6, such as: - (90's & 2000's) Pontiac Bonneville SSEI's - Pontiac Grand Prix GTP's - (Early 2000's) Chevy Impala SS's - (Early 2000's) Chevy Monte Carlo SS's - (90's & Early 2000's) Buick Park Avenue Ultra's - (90's & Early 2000's) Buick Regal GS's And Buick Regal GSX's < really hard to find - (90's) Buick Riviera's - (90's) Oldsmobile Eight-Eight LSS's - (90's) Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Elite's I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting, but these are the ones that might still be on the road around you... keep an eye out, there's very subtle details they changed to let you know that there's something "special" under the hood... you never know what grandma could be driving...
Very cool! Boosted technologies makes an M90 kit for the 4.7, I think they use Gen III's by default but you might be able to get a gen V kit made ive also heard of them doing an m112 kit for a 4.0. From what I understand they use a 9th injector with a FTC to cool the charge Temps since the M90's are non-intercooled. The m90 seems like it can add quite a bit of power to a 4.7 but are limited compared to a larger blower.
@Larry sounds like it will be a fun build, I've heard from talking to others that 8-10psi is the sweetspot and the head bolts start to stretch around 12, I've been wanting to boost mine so I went ahead and got some ARP head studs and ported the heads while I was at it. I've been running stock rockers with 212 cams and Comp cams valvesprings, and stock lifters for years and haven't had any issue. However I did replace all the valve train when I did the heads.
@Larry I picked up the cams second hand on Ebay in 2018, they were originally HO's but were reground by Crane Cams. I think regrinds are the only way to go nowadays. I've thought about a rear mount setup but im running a true dual exhaust system plus I prefer the supercharger whine to the turbo whistle.
Yeah that the way Becker's Auto Salvage and others were in Iowa. Now none of the salvage yards around Cedar Rapids Iowa will no longer let you go out in the yard.

Man, Jealous of your yards down in the U.S. I'm in Ontario Canada and I just pulled a SC off a 97 Buick Riviera (It was the only car in the yard of about 1000+ cars that had one). I paid $211 Canadian$ and it will have to be rebuilt. That Gen 5 you have is SUPER rare here, but you should have pulled the lower intake as well if you're using it on another GM 3800.
Are you planning on putting them on your 4.7 if so please let me know how your going to go about that I have a 04 overland with 102,129 miles and I want to add more power
Also if you're the souring type you can buy them in peices and rebuild it yourself. It's one of those things I'm always searching for on ebay weather I need it or not. Haven't looked in a long time, since I havn;t had money for parts. But they used to show up as just the housiing or just the snout all the time, and rebuild kits aren't typically all that expensive. Theres also a few variations besides the m90 that people look for. Like the M62. I still wanna throw one on my 4.0 just for fun. But shes long in the tooth and needs a bit of love before I'd do anything like that. Nothign, just all the regualr stuff that goes bad after 25 years.
Love the video man, very helpful. I’m curious though if I would be able to install this M90 supercharger in my 2001 dodge Dakota 4.7L? And if so, what could I need? Thanks👍🏼
Yeah, they do a great job at the Henderson Nevada Pic-a-Part the North Las Vegas Pic-a-Part not quite as clean. I guess the guys down in Henderson work a little harder. One of my favorite things about the Pic-a-Part is that they have all the cars elevated so you can get underneath them easily, and it's all on concrete.

So they make an adapter kit to adapt this to the 4.7 on a ram. Why will this not work on any other 4.7? Is it clearance issues with the hood? Because that can be fixed
