- Photographer Rich Scheild's professional digital camera captures the last winter for Conrail and the worst in Conrail's history. Taped on the Dearborn Division, where 32 inches of snow fell in just a few days. Operations came to a halt with switches snow covered and frozen. We visit locations in Michigan and Ohio along the Detroit to Toledo line and on the Michigan line which runs from Detroit to Chicago.

Great job, could you please do Conrail Hotspots East and West? I am a Conrail fan also and I live in Australia.
I worked for Conrail back in 1976. Helped lay the new ribbon rail thru Waldorf Maryland.
I worked all the yards from Sterling Heights to downriver Trenton/ Wyandotte and was on the road xtra board from Toledo to Conway right around the time this video was shot. Hell I might even have been in a couple of the trains shown!
I worked on Conrail the whole time and I miss it.
what happened to conrail?
@@THEROGUEDECEPTICON In 1999, Conrail was broken up by CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern. Conrail lives on as a joint operation known as Conrail Shared Assets Operations (reporting mark: CSAO).
Good old Conrail.
I hate to be that person but does anyone know the music in the beginning? I had this movie when I was a kid and I always wanted to know what the opening song was. Thanks
hi, can you please post the other parts as well? Thx.
@TrainHistorian I worked for Conrail and I miss it to
I did as well just before the takeover
@ewsdneax61eaxe10
Working on it. : ] It'll take a few days because the upload time is about 2 hours for each segment.
I only conrail was still around NS and CSX would never do this as well as conrail.
What's the railroad with the big GT?
Grand Trunk.
Conductor Robes Grand Trunk Western, which was and still is a subsidiary of the Canadian National despite the fact most GTW trains sport CN painted units.
Jessica Kasumi I always did like those blue and red paint jobs with the big white GT on em.
Detroit actually plowed streets back then.
what year is all this?
At 1:55 the narrator says January 2, 1999
ok thanks, must of slipped past me
reporting Mark's NYC went to csx. but you fail to mention that reporting Mark's PRR went to Norfolk southern. and I don't think you remember the winters of 1976 or 1977 ?those where the worst in conrail history. ad the facts that conrail was in much worse condition in those years.
