    We have come a long way from the first Bosch 280Wh external battery, but the question is do you need that much?

    • @Coolcmsc
      @Coolcmsc Před 2 lety +1

      Some do… I do….. You two do for your biggest expeditions - looking at you Chris….🤣. Some will be able to avoid a second battery in the car for a huge day in the bike park. And then there’s safety mentioned by some - that group will be able to avoid their worry. Having mentioned safety, I’m going to add that I’m very happy with the safety (and the weight) of carrying a second battery in my EVOC FR back pack with its dedicated compartment and back protector (and I avoid bigger jumps).

      Yes please!. I can't get any more than 45-50mile/6-7k elevation gain if I'm very careful with my 700 battery now. My weekend rides are generally at least that long and can have much more elevation change here in the rockies. Don't want weight of extra battery on my back.

    I just did a 93km route last Sunday and took the charger with me, so I was able to add 15 more charge when I stopped for lunch, that allowed me to finish my riding with 13%, so yes, I hope Bosch makes a 700 or 900 wh battery that will fit on the same space of my 625wh. 😎😎

    Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. I think the motor integration is beautiful and is overall a good looking and good spec bike.

    I have the Sight vlt and my rides are around 2.5 hours. I can get two rides with 1 bar of reserve out of one charge so if I could lose some weight and still have decent reserve then I would be better off with a smaller battery than the 720watt. So it really depends on the length of rides

    At last, just what im looking for.... The 504 i have on my old faithfull bike is fine for local trails, but one you get to big days out in the muck it limits rides... This would be the solution for our big trips to wales and the lakes, probably just use a 500 for locals and the 800 for trips away 👍

    I would love to know if Shimano plan to make a larger battery the same length as the 2020 BT-E8035 (the smaller sized 504wh one) or a booster to compliment it! As the new BT-E8035L and BT-E8036L obviously don't fit my 2020 E160 8000 frame.

    My Levo SL (320wh) has enough power to handle my daily 25-30 mile rides with 1,500-2,000 feet of climbing. Occasionally, use the Battery Extender (160wh) for extended distance/climbing rides. Settings: Eco @ 40/40; Trail @ 60/60; and, Turbo @ 80/80. Probably in Trail mode 90% of the time.

    I would go for the 900wh no doubt just to be ready for the big long days. I am 193lbs so use more battery on climbs. What I like most about the Norco is the choice of battery size. That's a great business model. I went from a 500wh SC Heckler to a 700wh Gen3 Turbo Levo Pro and subjectively it seems like the Levo/Brose combo is much more efficient, so I wonder how the range on a 900wh Norco/EP8 will compare with the Gen3 Levo. Idea for a test! I have become a huge fan of the Brose motor. Very very smooth power delivery.

    So I’m 56 years old and ride in Yorkshire Dales for 10 to 25 mile rides or Lakes for 25-30 miles with 1500 to 3500 ft of climb on a non ebike and I’m pretty done after that. That I think pushes limit of a 630 watt battery. Be nice to have a bit of flexibility but I’m not sure I want to ride much further or have a bike that is pushing 25 or 26 kg and prices going up well above £6k. Much prefer to see industry pushing range extender of about 250 watts for a couple of hundred pound. Maybe some standardisation of dimensions for a 630 and 250 watt battery. that fit in the same compartment but weigh and cost less.

    Steve is not a fan of Fat bikes probably because the big front tyre makes them steer like crap in the rocks. Try a dual suspension emtb Fit a 27.5 x 3inch front wheel and forks with a 26x4.0 or 4.8 rear. It works extremely well everywhere, sand, rocks, jumps and is comfort plus. It's a proven tyre combo on moto dirt bikes long before mtbs were a thing. See my Merida on your ep 129.about 16.40mins E=Mtb²

Thats like asking if a e-bike need a battery or a electric car need a battery.

    For the ridiculous price these pedal-machines cost, bike makers don't seem to care much about the gullible buyer. Any bike over $2 grand, should have a variety of paint schemes. Seems only Maxx & BH, offer this. Black, blues, grays, any dark color is ridiculous for an e-bike. Visibility counts when facing automobiles during commuting. Where are the bright color options? Painting a frame cost about $60. Anymore is a rip-off. Yet these companies are too-damn-cheap. Making a five...six...eight hundred percent profit on each e-bike sold. Yip. That fancy Norco Range C1, cost about a couple-hundred dollars for the frame. Components are bought wholesale. Fork & shock purchased much cheaper as it would from a individual sale. E-bikes have been around as long as carbon fiber. Yet the prices keep-going-up. So much for the delusion of bike companies saying everyone will be riding e-bikes by the year 2015.
