1988 & 1989 Coin Sets: (6:34)

Most of those listings for such high prices are foreign sellers. Some are straight up money laundering. Some are scammers and some are listed by people who don't speak English very well but live in Australia and didn't understand or read the actual article regarding the HH $2 coins.
Officially, the HH was removed because of copyright issues. Unofficially (and the actual reason) the HH initials were removed because the position of the HH made it appear as though the indigenous elder was branded.
Thanks so much for sharing this information, I did not know why it was removed. Dan
You're welcome. @@DantheCollectingMan
my grandparents went on a trip to australia and my grandpa kept some of his coins and he has 2 of the 1988 HH coins and it’s cool how they went on the year where the switched to coins and that they weren’t in circulation for long before they brought them to canada where they are now so they haven’t been touched much
That’s very nice to have some uncirculated $2 coins from then. I love getting coins from overseas as well. I have a big collection from all my trips. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your story. Dan
I live in a house with 2 other adults, we all collect our shrapnel. I asked them to let me search through their coin as I went through mine. BOY, am I glad I did. As of today, between the three of us, we have 175 of the HH stamped $2 coins. At $10,000 each, it's time to go to ebay and scam some losers out of their cash.........I think NOT. Yes, a very rare coin indeed.......
That would have been fun looking through all the coins, it’s crazy how much people are trying to sell them for. Thanks so much for watching and for the message. Dan
Started watching this video, went to my cars console and found 5.
Definitely lots out there. Dan 👍
I gotta dig out my 1988 silver proof $2 coin now, I think it'd have to be around 100k😅
We are all super rich if we could sell them 🤣😂 glad you liked my video. Dan
@@DantheCollectingMan no I'm not one of them, on eBay Dan trying to just blatantly rip someone off.
I believe coin collecting is what it is, when I started. You buy them as a medium or long term investment, you may get lucky sometimes. You might not some of the time also.
Disgusting how some people are giving this hobby such a bad name. Scammers need to be removed by whatever means necessary!
Totally agree, i feel for people that have fallen for this. Thanks Dan
I remember seeing some sold on Ebay for $15000, the buyers would be spewing now
It’s just crazy how much people are trying to sell them for! Thanks for sharing your experience. Dan
I have one.
hi dan good day, i have one peace of that coins how i cant sale that coins 1988 2 australia dollars? im from philippines.
Yes, you would not be able to sell it for anymore than $2 it’s not a collectable coin. Thanks so much for watching. Dan
Thanks dan for your knowledge, but it was not clear to me if the HH combined with RDM on lizzies neck is of value, I'm guessing i have enough for half a carton , i have 19 1988 and 1 1989 with both initials, should i just quench my thirst?
Sorry is it was not clear, it’s just worth $2. Nothing special about them at all. Thanks so much for watching! Dan
Sweet I’m going to use mine to get maccas hahaha
Yep, you are rich now 😉 thanks so much for watching. Dan
I found 2 of these coins just now as I was counting my spare change. 😂 Quite odd finding 2 of the same (both are 1988.) I mean, i think they are kinda cool... But seeing as I have 2 of them?? Ain't a rarity at all. 🤣 It's still cool to have 2 of the first $2 minted coins. Mine are rustic... But that just adds to the travel charm of them.
Yes, they are definitely one to have as a collector, but not for making money from it! Thanks so much for your input. Glad you enjoyed the video. Dan
What if your HH coin is graded by PCGS , would it be worth alot.??
I don’t think it would be worth much, not many people would be interested in it. Thanks so much for question. Dan

Haha, I think we all do. Thanks so much for watching. Dan
I completely disagree with you.160.9 million $2 dollar coin over 2 years to replace/ move away from existing 2 dollar notes printed since 1966 to mid of 1988. 160.9 million number is insignificant compared to how many of 2 notes were circulating during that time since 1968. But infact we still need lot more of those $2 coins. We are trying to feed and suck out at the same time. So i beleve 'hh' has its own significant value cause we are talking here about compltely different scenario
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. I agree that they have significance to our history of money, I don’t agree that they should be $1000 plus just because it has a HH on it. Thank for your comment. Dan
193 million over two years actually, which is significant and the coins last far longer (nearing 4 decades now) in circulation than the year or so that the $2 note lasted. Big difference there in longevity. The HH means absolutely nothing in terms of secondary market value.
Lol hh
It’s funny how many people fall for it. Thanks for watching. Dan
我這裡也有

You will only get $2 for them. That’s all they are worth. Thank so much watching. Dan
