Late 2017, the Canadian Mint sued the Royal Australian Mint for using a patented printing method on coins without permission. The demand: Australia's 500,000 commemorative $2 coins ($2 million in cash), in circulation since 2012, either be turned over to Canada or destroyed under supervision. Furthermore, it includes a permanent restriction of making, selling, supplying or otherwise disposing of, using or keeping the infringing coins without license or authority.

Thiis coin is very sought after in Australia Recently our mint put out a commemorative 10 year poppy coin and the website crashed.
Your video is terrific. Thank you.
What irony, since the RCM actually minted Australian coins.
Only in 1981 and it was only the 20c coin.
I really enjoy your videos I collect Canadian coins because my mother was born in Canada as were my grandparents of course. I don't know where you're going shop is but I am intrigued thank you so much for the effort that you put out I appreciate it!
Very informative. 👏
I never heard about these fake toonies, I always felt the coloured coins looked cheap.
If I may ask, these have been out into the world for 10 years, how will the Australian Mint collect them as required? I rather think it will be an impossible task.
That's why they demanded the 2 million and probably that Australia gradually pull them from circulation
@@NorthCentralCoinsno requirement was imposed or issued to banks or the public to turn the coins in. I still have 11 coloured poppy $2 coins as well as several hundred coloured $2 coins produced and released since 2012. There has never been a recall on any of the coloured coins here in Australia.
I have 2 Untouched Special Wrap Bank Rolls, I looked up prices last night with Can Coins, I would like to sell them, grading little pricey, but they have good chance of popping a few MS 64>. Love your videos. I need the mats you sell, to look at unopened 40-50s 5c and the 20,000 Unchecked pennies. I hit the rarest 2006 No, no, mag in AU+ so I stopped, in 2012.
Good video
Yes that’s true we stole there idea 😂 now we should sue the Canadian mint for saying they have the worlds biggest gold coin , ha small fry with there 100kg coin , we have the worlds largest gold coin 1000kg this is a true fact 😂 would make a great video
What do you think would happen if you melted down your coins, I want a 99.9% nickel ingrot
Your info is a bit off. Australia had a coloured legal tender coin in 2000. There are several other countries that issued coloured coins in the 1990s. That lawsuit was petty and a kneejerk reaction to Australia creating the world's biggest pure gold coin, beating the Canadian mint's offering by 912kgs.
Are you aware that the images in the video are of the Perth Mint and NOT the Australian Mint? Ooops. But if you are for Canada, Vancouver Ontario, all the same place. Whatever….
Okay go find me stock footage of the Australian mint and remake the video
Money so they say
Is the root of all evil today
