  • Today we’re looking through Australian $1 coins in the hopes of finding some alphabet coins, low mintage dates and commemoratives!
    We even now have a folder for our alphabet coins and hopefully we can find plenty of coins to fill it with!

    Highest $1 yield that I’ve ever seen on CZcams. Well done. I’ve subscribed that was exciting. Found $1 change over this Friday I just about kissed it but thought otherwise none the less was happy to find it. Cheers Lynn.

    I notice $ coins in particular are a differential bronze type coloration. Some seem to have more aluminium in them then they should.

    Hi Zach, I really enjoy your videos. I always keep a look out for some of the rare aussie coins. People always look at me when i get change and as i walk away and stop and I'm looking and studying the coins hoping to discover something worth keeping😊 but your right when you have eye for it. It becomes second nature. Have you ever found a $1 MULE? I was looking forever and one day i got subway and while i was eating in shop and looking through my change i almost choked on my sandwich everyone was like are you ok. I jumped up and literally ran out and went home straight away to confirm the find and sure enough i had found my unicorn it livrs in my safe😊.And do you only collect coins? I've just inherited my 93 year old grandfathers stamp collection. He has stamps from all around the world 80+ years he was collecting. There are stamps with Hitler on them and many more from around the world. I haven't even begun to look at them yet but I'm excited hope to find something that stops the stamp committee in disbelief. Fingers crossed. Let me know if you do stamps too if so we can collaborate. I live in Sydney and I've just subscribed peace out brother

      Thanks so much for watching my videos! And I really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment!
      And yeah, people will sometimes look at me confused when I’m checking my change, but it can be a conversation starter/learning experience for the person that gave the change 😂
      Sadly, I’ve never found the elusive mule, but one of these days 😂 and I love your story of how you found yours!
      As for other things I collect, I have about 300 sci fi/fantasy novels 😅 I’m sure stamp collecting would be fun, but I’m scared to fall down that rabbit hole and become hyper fixated on that 😂 with coin collecting, I just wanted all the 20 cent commemoratives to start with and then the other commemoratives and then all the years and now I’m trying to find every coin ever made in the whole world, so if I start even looking at stamps I know where that is going to lead 😂 but I hope the philately hobby will be fun and exciting for you and not get in the way of (in my opinion) the superior hobby of coin collecting 😂

    G'day Zach, thanks for the video mate :-) A lot of the coins you kept in the top two rows are quite high mintage, particularly Henry Parkes - not keeping those will help your finances a lot.

    Is there a book with the coins mintage ? My soon is interested in collecting coins.

    • @zachsworldcoinchallenge
      @zachsworldcoinchallenge  Před 9 měsíci

      Yes, there are a few. Renniks is the main book that I know a lot of people use (there are occasionally mistakes though). You can also find coin mintages on the Royal Australian Mint website (you can simply Google “Australian 50 cent coin mintage” for example and it should pop up. And you can also use Numista as well, to catalog your or your son’s collection and that has mintage numbers for each coin/year, and is mostly accurate (but not always)

    Is a 2019 with a box with a s in it and a 35 in the spot between the kangaroo head and the other roos $1 coin have any value

    • @zachsworldcoinchallenge
      @zachsworldcoinchallenge  Před rokem

      Those “Discovery Dollars” are a bit of a tricky one to say for sure. They are low mintage, but I don’t think there’s the same demand for them if you’re trying to sell them. I keep all the ones that I find. I think as a set of 3 they have a bit more value, but you won’t get rich 😂

    Zack I have a 2021 greenish blue coloured Donation Coin. Can you give me an Idea of what it is worth?

    • @zachsworldcoinchallenge
      @zachsworldcoinchallenge  Před 9 měsíci

      The 2021 donation dollars are a bit less common than the 2020, but I don’t think that adds much if any value in itself. And the greenish blue… without seeing it, it doesn’t sound like it’s a dramatic enough “error” to add any value, sorry
