I can't name one other dancer from nearly 100 years ago, and the more I learn about her the more I wish I could have known her. It takes a hell of a lot to go from horrible race riots at age 11 to global stardom and helping free France from the Nazis
Another American international star that was persecuted by the US government was Paul Robeson. His story is also remarkable.
