Not a big fan of MSI myself, but placing the ventus in the F-tier because of an uncooled VRM seems a bit overly dramatic to me. There are no reports of failing Ventus cards that I am aware of, no? High temperatures on these components aren't an issue, so I don't really see the problem here? Seems a bit shortsighted to me to assume that an army of engineers simply made such a blunt oversight if it were an issue.

I picked up the Gigabyte Eagle OC, it offers copper heatpipes compared to the Windforce, it's a very stocky and rigid card, weight is 800gr, no coil whine, dual bios offers silent and performance, but it's just a fan curve, performance just runs the fan at 1900 rpm under load, silent at lower rpm, performance plus MSI Afterburner custom fan curve is the way to go, 1500 rpm is enough to keep the GPU at 65C, hotspot 72C, (stock voltage, summer ambient temp of 30C), the GPU is already efficient, but even allows nice undervolting, stock is 200W/65C/2700GHz/1060mV, with a custom voltage curve capping at 925mV for max boost it's only 140W/55C.

How are the fans on the eagle? Are they ball bearing or sleeve? I'm getting the Gaming OC model with sleeve bearings, which is a bit concerning, but I suspect that opinions about the poor longevity of sleeve bearings might be a bit exaggerated. For this reason I'm still sort of torn between the gaming OC and the ASUS dual OC, or the Nvidia FE.
If I get the gaming OC, I will be mounting it vertically, which supposedly helps to preserve sleeve bearings.

AMD GPUs are more expensive than Nvidia because:
You will likely need a new, beefy PSU and you will slowly pay more in your electric bill too.
So sure, Nvidia are more expensive as a product, but you are likely able to keep your current PSU plus their power consumption is better than previous generations.

power limits are a bit useless in the case of 4070. It's impossible to exceed 230/240W. Not even if you immensely OC the gpu (besides being pointless from an fps perspective....little to zero increase at 2k). Plus, the major advantage of the 4070 is its low consuption.

    • @AquilaeYT

I have both Asus Dual 4070 and Asus TUF 4070.
I've make a lot of test about noise, hotspot temperature, memory temperature and OC capacity.
The TUF and the Dual have the same OC capacity but the final Frequency differs, the Dual have 2700~mhz at stock in performance bios while the Asus TUF can go above 2900 easily with the performance bios, it's insane and you can go above 3100mhz with an overclock and have HUGE differences in 1% low and smoothness on a 360hz monitor.
I've seen zero difference at 4K, at 1440p you can feel a difference sometimes and for 1080p at 240hz/360hz the difference is huge.
Also the Dual have a lot of coil whine while the TUF is quieter even for the fan noise, same result.
The Dual that i have cost 650 and the TUF 710, i prefer to put 710 on the TUF and i will resend the Dual.

Precisely why I got it. I got a 5700 XT with fans that just kept going full speed, it was absolutely insufferable to the point where I just downclocked and underpowered it to actually enjoy games. Then it died. It wasn't a low end card of that model either. With the 4070 I even get one less connector on the PSU which allows me to fit a fan down there for even better airflow.
I honestly don't care about the 10% extra framerate or whatever I could've had with other cards, I just want the fans to shut the fuck up.

    • @RY3ER_

@ALPAQL Just got a Dual with a slight undervolt 920mv+1500mhz on memory overclock, dead silent, 39c at idle (no fans) - 47c at full load@30% fan speed (non-existant sound), luckily I have ZERO coil whine or anything else sound-wise for that matter. Extremely well built, not heavy too - also, I peeked inside the backplate, it does have thermal pads inbetween PCB and backplate which is good. Memory temp goes only to 60c on mine since hotspot is barely 57... Price to performance is unbeatable on the dual.
P.S - Mind you I'm running these parts inside a Lian Li 216 case (excellent cooling) 2 bottom intake fans, 2 exhaust on top as additionals.

About the graphics card, I do agree with you, overall I like the aesthetics of the Gaming Trio and it comes with a little bit more OC from the box than the GB one, so I think I’ll go for that one, one last question though (sorry), do you think an i5 13400 would bottleneck it at 1440p or is it good enough?

  • @1SaG
    @1SaG Před rokem +10

Got the GB Gaming OC a couple of days ago and that insane power-limit seems a bit, well, pointless. At least for me since I don't plan on modding the card - and I wouldn't even know where to begin with that, anyway.. :) I managed a simple +125 MHz OC on the GPU and set 1000+ on VRAM. I put the power-limit up to 120 and then 130 percent, but the card never drew more than 235W or so. It does run into the voltage limiter all the time though. I also let Afterburner come up with an Auto OC curve which pretty much gave me the same results as my quick and dirty manual OC. Both run stable and gave me "excellent" results in TimeSpy. The cooler seems indeed very capable. Hotspot temps reached very low 80s while benchmarking, but GPU and VRAM remain exceptionally cool, even when OCed. Like... mid 50s on the VRAM.

So you like the card, overall? Do you think that a 650w PSU would be enough to handle this card at it's stock OC settings?

    • @1SaG
      @1SaG Před měsícem

@@platyhelminthes2877 Sorry for the late answer. Yes: I really like the card and I would happily buy another of their Gaming/OC models when I upgrade. The card hasn't missed a beat for me and I've never ran it at default settings other than for benchmarking/comparison purposes. Furmark stress test (1080p) will push Hotspot temps to low 80s with my OC (PL to 130% resulting in ~240W draw), but the default fan curve won't spin up the fans to more than 70 to 75% at these temps. Manually setting the fans to 100% will keep Hotspot temps well below 80°C.
I can't really tell if 650W would be enough - I upgraded from a 550W PSU to a bequiet! ATX 3.0 750W to be on the safe side WRT power and also to get the 12VHPWR connection (so I wouldn't have to use a bulky adapter to run this card).
However: Especially if you leave power limits on stock, I don't see why a 550W wouldn't be able to pull it off. It's what Nvidia and GB recommend for this card, but also: I ran a GB 3070 Eagle trouble-free before the 4070 on my 550W PSU and that card has a TDP of 220W (vs the 4070's 200W).
Also: While I found/find it a bit unnerving that GB don't include a GPU-stand with this one (but they do/did on the the slightly larger 4070 Ti Gaming), I can't say I've encountered any sag with this card.

This list is very subjective as he didn't have these cards to test just gathered info. I have the windforce OC and Asus tuf gaming and the windforce is silent and stays under 70c at full load. My 100 dollar more expensive Asus tough looks cool but is louder and runs hotter and does not provide more performance over the windforce. And most buy a 4070 for it's performance without the big power draw so why would you want to push it to 235 or more just use Dlss! Buy the cheaper 3rd part GPU's you will be happy with them.

My question is how do you think both cards would endure better for a long run because it will probably be another 3-4 years hard earned saving before i could make another upgrade. Also which card do you suggest in terms of performance and cooling system, obviously both are different design one is 3 fan other 2 fan but because im also on a limited budget (i just really wanted to spend it wisely and buy the very best within my fund limit) do you think for a dual fan card Asus live up to Gygabyte performance, cooling and longevity sir?

The reason you never got a response is because nobody here is a fortune teller. If you really are worried about having the card for a while buy higher end brands and pray you don’t get a melted 16 pin connector down the road or just buy one of the lower powered 4070s that still use the 8 pin and cut that particular risk out all together. Nobody knows how each of these cards will hold up in three years because the silicon lottery is alive and well, especially with these 16 pin models.

Also, make sure not to place the pad in contact with gpu fans when they spin. It was very easy with my gaming oc since the bottom surface is flat.
Thought having a pole with base would be better than a bracket you screw in the pci-e slots and it's quite cheap and discreet but I didn't do any major research in sag brackets tbh.
Here's the actual name of the one I bought:
Graphics Card GPU Brace Support, Video Card Sag Holder Bracket, GPU Stand, Anodized Aerospace Aluminum (Black)
      - (yeah very long name/description)
Pretty sure the seller doesn't matter and all come from the same factory, just check star rating and how many bought it I guess.
Would love to know if you buy the same or a different one. Hope this helped! :)

So what about an MSI 3080 Suprim X 12 GB vs an 4070 Gigabyte Windforce? If you have the MSI 3080, would you switch to the 4070?

thanks bro..the asus tuff is my choice..my asus 3070ti tuff has proved itself to be powerful..cool and reliable..any 2 fan card will always be noisy and hot...3 fans is king of anti-thermal degradation.

Why the "Gigabyte Aero OC and Gaming OC" have a top tier list but in all reviews these cards perform worse than "Asus TUF" and "MSI Gaming Trio"?

I'm curious about this too, it seems the galax EX/KFA2/1-click OC 3x is on the noisier side compared to other brands on the few reviews I've seen, so I'm curious if the 2x is about the same or even louder...

Hey man, it's been some time but I do hope you answer.
Did you get the zotac twin Edge? How does it feel? It's also the cheapest option on my region, and the alternatives are way more expensive right now (almost 100usd)
