    In the 1950s, the Deutsche Reichsbahn procured a small series of new locomotives, which were a further development of the locomotives 99 221 to 223 delivered in the 1930s, to supplement the outdated locomotive fleet, especially for the Harzquerbahn - but also for other meter gauge railways. With an output of 700 hp, the 60-ton, 12.5-metre-long locomotives were able to meet the demands placed on them after the initial teething problems had been eliminated. These locomotives are still in service today with the HSB and bear the brunt of traffic in the Harz Mountains - including road number 99 236, which in 2020 has been in service for 65 years.

    What is the effect of the Differential (mechanical device) connecting the 2 motors? If one motor dies does the other still work? Another subject: from my experience, it´s better to use technical pins to fix the motor(s) to the train chassis.

    • @richardbell7678
      @richardbell7678 Před rokem +1

      That puzzled me, as well. By putting both motors on the same side of the receiver, there are only 8 possible speeds for the motor. By putting one motor on each side, there are 16 possible speeds. Running the motors in opposite directions is a bad idea. The important aspect of the differential is that both motors are not forced to run at the same speed, so the slower motor does not drag on the faster motor.

    Ahhhh I would be so anxious if I had this, the build looks so unstable. Like if it fell off a shelf or got fumbled around in a box, I feel like it would crumble. So many details held by one stud and a prayer just has me cringing. Over all the model is great though. And I like the gear system, it's a fun mechanic and I like spinny bits.

    Why do German steam engines always have red wheels?

  • @SarcasticTentacle
    @SarcasticTentacle Před rokem +5

    I had the misfortune of buying this set. Even getting it delivered was a huge pain as while they charged my card they did not provide any sort of invoice until I went to contact paypal to get it reversed. Only then did they decide to actually send the product.
    The quality of the set itself was dire.
    The USB with the instructions had multiple pages that were corrupt and unreadable.
    The parts poorly fit together, most bricks were warped or would have gaps when fit together. Rods would barely fit into wheels and were almost impossible to remove after. Wheels turned poorly, with the flanges rubbing against the clips to hold the brake caliper detail, motors were non-functional etc.
    A large number of parts were flat missing like the upside down 1x1 clips that are supposed to be used to hold red piping under the main body.
    The connecting rod assembly on the wheels is flimsy as hell and is extremely unlikely to handle actual operation.
    The entire rear cab and coal bunker is supported by a mere 4 jumper plates meaning even looking at it funny will have the entire thing detach and come loose as there's just nothing holding it together.
    Do yourself a favour and never waste money buying from this knockoff site. If you want a classic steam train you're better off looking for a set of plans on rebrickable and then sourcing the parts from brick-link or lego themselves.

    Why you've skipped the most interesting part in the model? Like all this inverted parts that you need to attach to the model from the bottom without studs, using some "special" stud that should connect them? I've used glue to make them hold, how about you? At 11.17 I see you also used glue. But for some reason have shown assembly of different part first.
