- Today’s woodworking project is another fun one that is great to work on with kids. It’s a finger hockey game board that is a ton of frantic fun. Build this one with your kids, then challenge them at the Family Game Night Championship!

Great project! I like how you used a removable stop block on the table saw. I haven't used that saw much so hadn't even considered it but it makes sense now. Happens sometimes with my chop saw, not anymore thanks to that great tip 👍

It reminds me of a diffusion and Brownian motion simulation.
I bet some paste wax on the pucks & bottom board would make those pucks slide with little friction if making a bigger version

These are great fun 😊 We visited a place locally and they had many variations of this game. It gave me a good few ideas for making something for when my son's friends visit 😊 ॐ
It’s such a simple build, but so much fun to play!
You should put the robe litle bit lower then you can shoot with one hand just take the puck and pool back en shoot now you use 2 hands

Thank you! I do have a son, but he’s a teenager. Teens are tougher to talk into helping on these things. And it is a tough game if you’re competitive. I have gauge my aggressiveness by who I was playing. Nobody likes getting absolutely dominated 😉

Ha! The table saw obviously isn’t a tool for kids. It’s great to get kids involved with woodworking, but some aspects are best done for them in the name of safety.

Thanks! I’ve never heard of crokinole, I’ll have to check it out. I figured Canadians would have finger hockey boards on their kitchen table ready to play at a moment’s notice! Isn’t hockey mandatory up there?
Saw this on pinterest and thought it was a good idea and could use up some of the scrap I had laying around. I was using a hole saw to make pucks. Using a large dowel is a much faster method.
Utilizing what you have available is a great way to go too! Have fun with it!

Thanks! It's a great project with kids too, especially once it's time to play. And if you're referring to the saw, it's an old Craftsman that was given to me in a very lucky series of events. My next video will be highlighting it more as I try to corral some of the sawdust it creates.

Another great video. Brilliant idea of using a dowel to make pucks. Game looks like a lot of fun but I saw you cheat and blocked your daughter's puck with your hand (and she still won!).

Are you using a 16 gauge or 18 gauge nailer?
I used a 16 gauge. One thing I learned when making some more of these for gifts is to use screws instead of nails, if you use a hardwood for the frame. My nailer struggled to get the nails into the oak I used for the gift builds. Some nice finishing screws would have worked better. If you’re using pine, like I did in the video. then nails will do just fine for you.
Would you possibly make one to sell? I’ve been looking all over the place for one of these for my brother but all the sellers on amazon have either bad reviews or no reviews. If you can I would happily pay you !
Hi Ashley, I don’t typically make things to sell because I actually don’t get a lot of time in the shop these days. This is a pretty good starter project, if you can find a friend with some basic tools. You might have to get creative, depending on the tools, but that’s the fun part! Best of luck!

Who invented the game? Is there an author?
I really have no idea who invented it. It goes by many names: finger hockey, sling hockey, table hockey, pucket, etc. I’m sure some research would turn up the original.
