Bro why are people hating on this spec list? That 1700 mobo bundle is a steal. Why? Because it's on an AM4 platform. You can easily upgrade that 1700 if needed, but the point of this video is to give people ideas on how to build a budget Gaming PC.
If you are all so good, let me see your videos explaning your builds. Otherwise, stfu and show some respect. This guy is genuinely informative.
PS: He does a great job explaining why he chose that PSU.
"I'm not going to get into console vs PC" *gets into it*
🙂 just get both, nothing wrong with having a PS2 PS4 and an XBOX and a bunch of thrift store CDs, they make good decorations in the living room, everybody always asks about them when i have guests
@@MrSamadolfo and how can someone with only $350 get both?
@@shawner7340 look for them used at thrift stores or freegeek
@@MrSamadolfoill get a xbox series x some time but i mostly play just crossout lol
Crossout, i just checked, its a free to play game available on all platforms 🙂 first time im hearing about it @@spikestips6034
My $350-$400 PC has the following specs:
MSI Z370-A Pro Motherboard
i7 8700k
1TB NVME M.2 SSD
ASUS GTX 1060 6GB Turbo
16GB DDR4 RAM at 3000MHz
600W non rated PSU (white)
Corsair H100i 240mm AIO cooler
Kediers C570 open air case with 7 RGB fans. I got the PC from OFFERUP in March of 2023 for $300. It didn't come with the PSU or storage but I already had those from a previous build. I bought the 1TB NVME SSD for about $40 and I put a $40 price for the PSU.
i dont think you need an aio for a 8700k, but do as you wish :)
Handsome host, relevant ad, sick pc build -- what's not to love??? Also, CRAZY that these parts are considered "old." I'm feeling real outdated. THIS guy.
Nice build. About a year ago, I put together a ~$350 build centered around a i3 10100 and a GTX 1060; this build would slap mine in a side-by-side, but it wouldn't be too far off. Like you say at the end, it's all about managing expectations when budget-building. I was able to stomach my way through as much of Starfield as I could stand at 30-40fps.
i just got a killer deal for 4x GTX 1080s at $95 each (they were used for mining)
I really hate taxes and shipping fees. In the US that thing is $350. But here in the PH that thing is worth $520.13. And if I opted for all used parts I could get it for around $460. Everything here just jumps in price as long as it's electronics..
Im currently rocking a 1080ti with a morpheus 2 cooler with a ryzen 7 3700x on a msi b450 pro. Still plays new titles well and affordable. All built by me
It’s crazy to say “a 1080 bills still runs new titles well” like it’s a surprising thing. I remember when the 1080ti came out and it was a BEAST. Now you can find em for a couple hundred $
I just did a build for my daughter. I went with a 512GB Sabrient rocket because I got it for $25 new, and she only plays a couple games. I failed to realize once she had her own gaming PC and wasn't just parsecing into mine, she would start browsing free to play games. Now I'm out in shack pulling a new 1TB SATA SSD out of inventory to add as a game drive.
I think for esports titles it would be more useful to test with med/low settings, since the visuals do not change that much and one usuallly would want to gain any small advantage in real world use cases.
edit: typo
In the UK here, I didn't realise the used market was so lively, but I could put together a PC for 320 pounds with a 3070 Ti and 3700X with a X470, ridiculous!
Nice rig my friend!
Looking forward to this video
When I got my first ryzen cpu “the 1700” it really gave me a chance to learn ram and tweak things it was super reliant on certain ram and you would get insane boosts in performance with certain kits , enjoyed the vid bud keep up the great work!
how? lol first gen ryzen were absolutely trash when it came to memory overclocking
Pretty wild! I actually just did a $400 guide using a GTX 1070. The GTX 1070 though for a cheapo 1080 machine is still great budget here in 2024! Nicely done Danny!
Love the Montech Air 100. Absolute best budget M-ATX case out there!
bad quality.... metal is so thin lol
@@Slobodan26 what do you need thick metal on a chassis for?
the Montech AIR 1000 Premium is better if u can find it
@MrSamadolfo I agree. it's a great chassis. The only issue is that it isn't M-ATX, which is why I can appreciate the air 100. M-ATX mobos are quite common on budget builds, but M-ATX cases are a really mixed bag and it's hard to find a really good one at a really good price.
You COULD shove the board in an ATX case if the look isn't that something that the buyer isn't considering.
🙂yes I prefer ATX cases for matx boards, one way I get around it is opting for ATX Cases that are really short lengthwise front to back but they are tall like a regular ATX case, for examples checkout the Corsair 220T Case and the GAMDIAS pc cases, I have an matx case in a Corsair 220T and it looks really good, with a two fan video card it kinda covers the bottom of the case anyways so its doesnt look like theres anything missing, plus u get a little bit more room for assembly @@smallletterdee
really glad that you explained why a tier F psu would work with this build, nice video and a decent pc for this budget
tier F is kinda suspect, EVGA never made F power supplies, who is making that list anyways 🤔
A good budget build also could be a z440 with 32gb and an e5-2683v4 which costs $161+ and rx 5700($135) and a 256gb ssd($20) and 1tb hdd($10) Total price comes out to about $326
Hi i can I have two choices i can build a pc with 12400F + 7700XT or 7600X + 6750XT
For the same price so which one i should prefer GPU or CPU
I will be using for gaming and live streaming mainly and some lil bit mining
I love the montech air 100
mentioned upgradeability with the am4 board but picked an F tier psu... idk, i'd like to have seen a cheaper case and the difference put into the psu. still, overall not bad specs for the budget, good show
edit: lmao the video literally discusses this right after the sponsor
I'm very well aware of my choices and the criticisms I will get for them lol
Tier list is a joke
I agree, total miss on case .
@@radradR0bot how? Do you want a psu exploding?
@@radradR0bot L take mate. You do realize that the list compiles actual data on units. That psu has been reported by multiple sources of failing, lacks safeguards to protect your other pc components from damage, and is not quality controlled well meaning units will be vastly different from each other. You're rolling the dice on a pc that cost way more than that psu all together. The last thing you want to do is spend all that money and have the psu short out other components. A bit irresponsible to put this in a pc and make a video about it imo. If he sells this pc I just hope he replaces that unit...
Well done, young man!
I'm currently using a Midspec AM4. better upgrade to a highspec am4 or lowspec am5?
what graphics card should i upgrade to i have a raideon 570 with same motherboard and ryzen 7 cpu with 16 gb of ram
I'm still on 1080Ti. This thing can still play latest stuff all be it it can't "push all slider to the right" anymore but it's still doing above medium at 2K!. Turn down the performance tanking stuff like shadow and reflection and you're good to go.
I was using a GTX 1070 only a year ago with an i5 9500 and 32GB ddr4 and it served me well for half a year before I moved onto more demanding games and upgraded everything
Hope all is well bro looking forward to a update
I think we can get a little snooty with PSU sometimes, and i understand that its definitely a part to get right. But i think an EVGA white with enough wattage, if thats all you can afford or is available, is better than no PSU. Especially if you're willing to replace the PSU later when the warranty is near. But people definitely have been perfectly fine with budget PSUs, few people wanna buy bronze but ive built with bronze and had almost no difference in peformance for the user compared to more expensive PSUs.
nothing wrong with bronze efficiency. PSU tier list has a bunch of bronze models in the tier c bracket.
🙂 as the years have gone by i noticed pc building content creators getting more and more stuckup talking ish about power supplys, they all are crap for them now, just ignore them
My 650w bronze psu lasted 10 years 🎉
Hi, can you show us ways to activate windows in a cheap way. Can u see if gig mall is legit too? Thanks
I would agree too that a good plan would be to invest in a quality power supply and build from the inside out.
The PSU is not something you want to swap in and out especially after cable management.
The air 100 is one of the GOATs for budget cases, but I agree, sub $400 you most people shouldn't be focusing on aesthetics, and by swapping the budget of case and PSU, you could get something like the MSI Mag A-BN which is a much better PSU and still have a case, it won't be pretty, but at $350 getting the most performance possible should be the main goal
The Air 1000 Premium is a bit better but comes with a premium price 😄
Got that q300l case. Not the best, but pretty and got it for these 14cm fans in front...
Nice build. I was able to build a rig similar for $450 like back in late January of this year. It has a
Ryzen 5 5500 (new, came very cheap on best buy for like $90)
Asrock B450m ($80, bundled with ram, new)
GTX 1070TI (msi aero, $110, used)
Corsair CX 650m (new, $60)
4x8gb ram (DDR4, 3200mhz, stole some ram from my old system too)
And a phanteks whatever. I forgot the name but it was like $60 I think. I forgor where the rest of the $50 went (this list only adds up to $400), but i probably miscalculated a price somewhere.
Great build I would have spent a little less on the case and tried to get a better psu
When will there be another lan party video!?
I'd spend the least on a case,a used OEM case with some moding would suffice
love seeing that someone els knows you can do it on a budget my first pc was a gtx 470 and an i 2 duo lmao
my budget on that pc was free.50 tho, dell optiplex case and free hand me down parts from my neighbor who is like 60 lol, but back in 2010 he was one of the best csgo players lol
My son pc still rocking AMD 1500x. He just played ragnarok online with rx 6500 xt
im still rocking my EVGA GTX 1080 TI FTW3, i see no reason to upgrade yet as it can play everything i throw at it.
Yeah, no need to whatsoever absolute beast of a card
What does the tier of your psu matter
you could overclock the cpu bc the 1700x is pretty low clocked
about to get an i3-12100f/1tb nvme/b660m/16gb ram bundle for 170, then a 5700xt for 120
already got a rm750e for 50 as well, i'm good to go other than a case
i have an matx lian li case for ur build, are u in Chicago? 😃
@@MrSamadolfo no, i'm in north carolina
😊oh ok @@-Noble
Really good budget build. You'll play 1080p high settings no problem
@@katser5023 thanks, i ended up getting a nitro+ 5700xt instead for 120, 6600 xt fell through, setting it up now
I just build a ryzen 5 3600 w gtx 1660super for 385euros with new motherboard,8gb 3200 Ram, 550w PSU and new case from aerocool trinity mini v2 in germany. So if I wernt all used parts i guess i could do it for around 300... not bad for low-mid range 1080p gaming pc.
HI Danny, My brother's are using 1600x and a 1400 along with a 1060's for their gamming needs. but truth be told they like to play some really old games.
I went with newer hardware 12100 + rtx 3050 for $350. 3600x is also a great option.
bro said 3050
I would replace the 3050 for the rx6600. Cheaper and stronger than the 3050.
Why did you go with 3050? Did you have to have nvidia? If so why not go for a used 3060 and maybe save money for much more performance, or brand new rx6600 for more performance and cheaper price. Do you have a itx build? Are you using the low profile version?
Please help. I just built my first pc, and it didn't turn on. I narrowed it down to the motherbaord, which turned out to be bad. I received my new motherboard and also bought a new case. I tested everything before putting it in the case and received signal. So my next step was putting everything in the case. I put everything in correctly and double-checked to make sure. When i went to turn it on, i got nothing. There was absolutely nothing at all. The Psu was silent. After a few times pressing the power button, the cpu fan started to spin a little and then stopped. I took everything out again, and i got an output. When i went to turn off the pc again, a note popped up saying the RAM was bad or something like that. Embarrassingly, i ignored it and just shut down the pc. The RAM was previously used in a build with the exact same cpu and gpu. So now, even when i take the parts out of the case, i get nothing but the cpu fan spinning for a second and then shuts off.
PLEASE HELP 😢
May be try to clear cmos
Air 100 is still a legit budget case with great airflow
Montech X3 Mesh - Black for ATX builds too :)
Montech AIR 1000 Premium is better but comes with a premium price 😄
I'm very happy with my ryzen 8 cores 1800x and my asus strix 1070ti, 32gb ram and 1T ssd...good enough for everthing without any issues.
can we please do a video on a rtx 2080 sli build
I'm building my 1st PC for gaming planning to use AM5 Ryzen 5 8600g and RX 580GPU I know the 8600g is a combo CPU/GPU but saw that some games did have a bottleneck without a independent GPU my total budget is 800.00 actually cost is 755.00 all new product.
800$ build and you going Rx 580? That's bad bro buy a used 5700 xt or anything around the price of a 580
My sleeper $363 build
Hp 800 Elite G4 SFF
I7 8700
32gb ddr4
256gb nvme
1tb hd
Nvidia A2000 6gb
Default power supply
Got the hp for 143 and the a2000 for $220.
Its nothing special but does very very well.
Thank you! This area of PC build segment is the most interesting, as I feel that a majority of builders don't have the budget for an expensive rig, and the appeal of buying a used Dell or Lenovo office unit and sticking a GT 1030 inside is waning. So your video gives people a path forward to building a usable PC that can still handle modern games with respectable performance!
I do a littel bit of everything, I have retros, I have currents, and rite now i'm working on upgrading a cute little Small Form Factor Dell Optiplex 3020 which has a Haswell Board 🙂gonna throw in the usuals: i7, 16gb ram, SSD, small profile card, win 11 pro, and some of my GOG games 😎
For that price point of the gpu a 1660s was possible
Fun fact - the 4th gen i7 4790 has a 10% better single thread score than a 1700X and is a better choice for a budget build than a 1700X. There are a couple of games these days that might run better with more cores but are games you probably won't be playing on this system unless you are willing to make some big compromises. The 1080 can barely stay above 30fps in AW2 so the 1070 definitely isn't doing it.
Thanks for putting the console vs PC debate to rest. I've been saying for 30 years that you can't compare a console to a PC.
I just finished an i7/1080 build. IDK what it would have cost because I've had the GPU for a few years. Everything but the GPU cost around $300 but I bought new RAM, PSU and storage for it and you could save some money there. Sure, you might get a free case. But it is likely to have a floppy drive bay, lol.
A Thermaltake Smart 500 PSU is $40 and it is infinitely better than a $30 Apevia PSU. I used a couple of Smart series PSUs when mining and they went the distance.
A Q300L is $40. It is an excellent airflow case and I'm not selling tempered glass as a hobby seller because I can't afford to deal with the inevitable breakage in transit. I also think if you only have $500 to buy a PC, you shouldn't expect premium features. If you want tempered glass, you can go buy one of those scam jobs on Amazon with a GT 1030 or build it yourself. The real reason people don't recommend the Q300L is because it is a challenging case to cable manage. But when you get it right, you have the smallest mATX PC you can build without getting into scratch building and modding. Still managed to get a 3070 Ventus 3x in the one I built for a friend.
I can tell just from the cable management you did that you aren't planning to ship this PC.
I personally don’t think all cases is for looks is has impact for performance with decent airflow
hey man, i have questiong for anyone, i have a desktop pc and i want to upgrade my gpu on a budget, looking to upgraded with a 300$ budget. Anyone with recomendations pls feel free to help me out, im rocking X470 Gaming plus MS7B79 MB, 32gb or RAM, 650PSU, 1TStorage nvme & 1TSSD, and a 6500XT 4GB GPU. Ryzen 7 2700 3200mhz 8/16
I was looking on eBay at cards the other day, weird use of leisure time I suppose but I like to see what's going for what, and I saw a 3gb 1060 with quite a few bids go for £60 ($70ish), about 10 mins later a 1070 finished with less bids at £68, checked the listings and both sellers looked ok, both listed working, boxes etc. Made no sense to me at all, that one.
thats normal, everybody wants way too much, prices have nothing to do with performance, not a dam thing 😄
@@MrSamadolfo? 70$ for a 1070 is a decent price
@@frozen9065 🙂 sure
I think you had picked ryzen 3600 between 60 to 70 bucks that would be way more awesome 😅😅
🙂 yup $80 new at Microcenter
Great video. Used to build my own rigs back in the Windows 95 days. Played Duke Nukem 3D and Quake II. 3DFX Voodoo card was THE hot ticket then nVidia showed up. Now I see Quake II is back in the multiplayer realm and damn, it's still just as fun. But tech has moved on and I am a little lazy now (I like to nap and value my sleep now) but still want to build a good value gaming rig. Thanks for the vid- great way to get back into the fun! Now, I've heard there's a Voodoo II card that can be shotgunned into dual AGP ports. Sounds trick...
no chance id pick a 1700 for 50$ when a 3600 is roughly the same price
🙂 3600 is $80 brand new at Microcenter
I love how you no not to waste time arguing between console and pc ( we all know pc is clear)!!
I gave my wife my old pc, about a year ago,
MSI Z170 with an i7 6700K and a GTX 1060 6GB. Still running like a beast.
I upgraded because I won a civil case and that matter got settled, I didn't go extremely high-end - I'm running a 5600X and a 2060 12GB, nonetheless, she's happy, I'm happy!
Imo using spreadsheets as reason for advantage of PC is often silly in these debates. Used $20 chromebook will edit spreadsheets.
People will be like my PC can do Xyz, but a cheap console and cheap computer seperate will now do all those things. 90% of folks just need a word processing, browser, Videos.
I think its even more silly when its comparing $300-$500 moderm console vs $1k-2k Pc
could have had a 1070 ti turbo for 100 my boi
What is this pc supposed to be used for
🙂 i think its meant for pc gaming
@MrSamadolfo you wasting alot of time building 1 of these then
CAN ANYONE DO 350 TO 400$ 4K EDITING BUILD
I doubt you will see this.... But damn.... 8 hours left. Here's a chance to do a cheap gaming pc? Some Dell Optiplex 7050 builds at Woot for 114 to 165. Core i5. 16 gigs of ram. Dell Optiplex 7050 SFF Desktop on woot
I built a more modern pc, but I still use my 1700 and a vega 56
😏 same, I think I spend too much time on my retro pc's
Wouldn't a 3600 or 5600 be a bit better?
🙂 sure
Have built plenty of budget rigs.
-Number of EVGA whites that have failed: 0
-Number of Thermaltake Smarts that have failed: 2
Its certainly not the best PSU, and it will definitely need to be updated later on along with any other upgrades, but if you understand the power draw of your system and know the EVGA PSU has more than enough wattage to sustain that...then you'll generally be okay assuming a tight budget. People need to look past a product's position on a list sometimes.
Great vid, Danny!
that tier list is a grift by power supply companies 😄
Not into used, just not my thing, but this is well done, nice job Danny.
Man i love the vid. The comments section tho looks pretty toxic...
Man I have a 5600x and a 3080 and I feel like my system is barely pulling better benchmarks 😂
First thoughts if that’s all you can afford don’t buy a pc or a console
If your build has RGB cancer in it, it's not a budget build. Money is clearly wasted here
how is a $350 pc with rgb not a budget build? most pcs can run you 600+ with new and used parts with rgb or without rgb, thats the least of the worry when it comes to whats more pricey
oh ofc PC win.
console is not worth of money.
you can do work on pc and console only play
You definitely screwed up with the case . You cheaped out on everything, and then you pick up $60 case with plastic side panel (bad for thermals) instead of picking up office metal tin can for $20 or even getting one for free (people tend to toss out old computers). Definitely not something you would do on tight budget, as you could technically build configuration in a cardboard box, and get case later.
@@LaneSke Beggars can't be choosers 🤪
@@LaneSkeI got my old office case for free from my uncle. Painted it red and it looks decent. The case had mesh holes on the side so the rgb is seeable. Just a couple thing took that case from looking like trash to very “gaming”
Hi can you gift me a pc for 1$ this video is insiring
Anyone arguing for a console at lower price points don't know what they are talking about. The only reason to get a console is because u want to become part of a fan club either ur into nintendo or ur a pony or ur an xbox bot or ur into exclusives or u like to collect and display physical discs or u think ur better than us. Please stop and grow up. Anyways the 1700 is kinda lika a Haswellish type of platform tho I just checked and it runs a tiny bit behind a Devils Canyon platform. Since ur running a classic gtx 1070 most game engines are still optimized for an intel platform paired with a gtx card so that mite be why the 1700 is a little meh compared to a Devil Canyon even tho the 1700 on paper should be a bit better but its not what u see when ur actually playing a game. The price points sounds about rite, rite now Core2Quad 775 namebrand overclockering board cpu ram combo and anything newer pretty much is the same price as that 1700 combo so just get whatever you like, obviously the older a platform is the slower it is but if ur still insisting on looking at older hardware then it mite b because of nostalgia and thats fine too. Don't overlook some of the older oem desktops and workstations if u want something to play with and experiment with some upgrades. The case is fine, rite now from Montech I picked up a Sky Two and the other model is called 1000 Premium which I like because it comes with a front glass panel like u see on Corsair Crystal Series. I prefer front glass with argb fans. I have that power supply, theres nothing wrong with it, that tier list is bs and suspicous, I think they are trying to upsell u into buying more expensive power supplys, Dont Guess everyone should have a $10 watt meter plugged in Inline along with any power supply, monitor the watts in game, adjust the Resolution and FPS to bring the watts down to a decent level, something like 200 to 250 watts max should be fine. If ur pulling over 300watts all the time in your video games and u gotta have high fps then you need to step up to a bigger power supply but in the meantime lower the fps so that u dont overstress ur power supply, treat her well and u should b fine.
