it's a sport where the athletes are extremely vulnerable, and I feel like a lot of fans are just protective over their favorite fighters. It's really easy to make fun of a guy in board shorts getting ko'd and taking lifelong damage, even though the people making fun of those guys are usually sitting on a couch covered in potato chips and have no idea what it's like to commit your life to something like that and fail in front of millions of people.

@@haydncooper217 buddy Cowboy was on a three fight losing streak all by knockout. He struggled against southpaws, Conor was a Southpaw, Cowboy starts slow and struggles to get started, Conor is a fast starter. Cowboy struggles with the big occasions, Conor is the biggest occasion.
Cowboy was done and everyone knew he was done. Everyone knew this before the fight and said this is exactly how it was going to play out and it did. Dana was even saying before the fight fans need to respect Cowboy more because nobody is giving him a chance. Yet after the fight the whole broadcast team was acting like they just witnessed the second coming of Christ. Stephen A was the only one to call bullshit.
Plus you add in the fact Conor was meant to fight Gaethje 6 months earlier but had an injury so Cowboy stepped in then when everyone was expecting to finally get the Gaethje Conor fight it was announced that Conor would fight Cowboy the guy Gaethje knocked out and he would get a title shot with a win. The whole thing was embarrassing!!

The ring card girl one is hilarious because it shouldn't even be controversial. Khabib said the ring card girls don't serve a function... then the ring card girls defended themselves by saying they bring eyes to the sport (They don't. The sport brings eyes to them and their social accounts.) and Valentina stood up for them by saying they're "Decorations". Much like an ornament, or piece of crystal that has no function or purpose other that to go "Oh that's nice".
Everything runs the exact same with or without them. Proving Khabib's point.

The sudden gyno might as well have been a positive drug test and confirms what is only said in whispers. It should be no surprise that Izzy gets treated the same as others who have tested positive.

Khabib’s comments on ring card girls were merely facts. They aren’t necessary to an MMA event. And in Valentina’s attempted defence of them, she accidentally further solidified that argument. “They’re a decoration.” Exactly. They are frivolous, shiny objects. Completely devoid of importance.
I think people took what he said too literally, as well. He wasn't saying that they have serve no purpose as individuals/human beings, rather the position of ring girl serves no purpose.

To be fair it's not that he harshly criticized Cowboy, it's that he took it a step further and implied that he didn't even try and may have thrown the fight.
Sometimes even great fighters get stopped early. Aldo vs Conor is a perfect example.
Cowboy is known to fade under the spotlight and underperform leading to disappointing performances time and again. His fight with Conor was just a reaffirmation of this.

Losing the license only effects the name of the game being “FIFA” they will still produce an annual football game it just won’t be called FIFA anymore. they have around 300 licenses for all the different leagues / stadiums / players / clubs etc

EA will continue to produce their typical drivel but without any of the licenced players / managers image and likeness or naming rights.
I fear this is only marginal progression for FIFA as they would have happily allowed EA to retain the rights had they been willing to pay for the licencing fee. Which I believe was £100M

Seeing how the Reebok (and Monster) deal played out, I think Lesnar's call out of Bud Light should have been discussed more. He was arguably the only one who could stir up such a discussion at the time, and if more "superstars" had done the same in the decade to follow, today's fighter pay negotiations would have been more in favor of the fighter.
The problem is the negotiations are the UFC with every fighter individually. The fighters REALLY ought to unionize.

There's even a clip of the JRE where Joe tells him that competing at that level will end him because he simply wasn't good enough and that was coming from a friend who was scared for his well being.

He was a mid-tier heavyweight with a respectable career, but he's spreading that experience unbelievably thin with his 4+ shows and cawlmedy career. The vast majority of his post-fight success happened by riding Joe's coattails.

Everyone's on steroids and most fans are aware of this but since most of the fighters pass drug tests they are clean on "paper" and have some level of plausible deniability towards steroids accusations even if you agree USADA testing is a joke (which it is). The sudden case of gyno is a smoking gun of steroid use and removes plausible deniability. It should be no surprise or controversy he gets treated the same as others who pop because it really is confirmation he might as well have tested positive. Also, he still has gyno.
Little known fact: the beef between Ariel and Shaub stems from an old argument around who’s hairline is closer to their eyebrows.
The EA thing breaks my heart because it's so obvious EA STILL DOESNT understand MMA. THQ's games were without a doubt the best MMA games we've ever had.

The Lesnar Bud Light thing reminds me of how in the 90s NASCAR drivers took to knocking promotional things off their cars in the winner's circle if they didn't have a sponsorship deal with them. Example, if Jeff Gordon, a Pepsi driver, won a race sponsored by Coke, the Coke people would put a bottle of Coke on his car .... and he'd knock it off and stand there drinking a Pepsi on live TV. NASCAR eventually made a rule saying they couldn't do it.

So many controversies in mma happen because mma fans can't accept outsiders because they want to feel special and gatekeep the sport, which is stupid no matter what, but becomes ironic because so many of the fans that gatekeep weren't ever fans when the ufc was underground.
Tapping someone's phone and stalking their home residence highly illegal and I doubt that any judge would see pirated pay-per-views as a justification for breaking these laws
