Health insurance is a really important aspect of living in the US. United states doesn’t have universal health care like EU or Canada and having a health insurance coverage at all times is crucial. I would recommend you to go for university health insurance if you are contemplating on it but if not you can always chose cashless insurance from 3rd party if you are university allows you for that.

What's the logic and benefit of using this system. (Fixed × Visits) + Scaled > Cap
I really hope you can answer this, i rarely get sick so i’m not really looking for an expensive plan hence i chose the one with $81 per month (1,000 annual) (500 deductible) instead of the one with $121 per month (1,500 something annual) ($40 deductible) which one would be better? I dont really have any health issues or anything

Can u pls answer the below question
I had admits from 3 universities for this fall 2022
1.San Jose State University - MS SE
2.University of florida -MS CS
3.Georgia State University -MS CS
My main goal is not research i want to do a job after my masters .Each one of them has their own advantages and disadvantages and i am not sure which factor will account the most
San Jose State University is in the middle of silicon valley and the course work is very good and it is related close to job area But the main disadvantage is cost of living usually 3 people live in a room to mitigate living expenses with part - time
Georgia State University is in DownTown Atlanta and it has same location advantage as SJSU but little bit lesser than it.Here people mostly gets TA's or RA's and complete their tuition fee within 5 lakhs But to mitigate living expenses 2 people share a room
University of florida has good ranking compared to others and the location is gainsville which is a village in florida which does not have any tech hub But the living is on the lower side due to location and people can take single room here
The cost of tuition for San Jose and Univ of florida would be 25 lakhs but for GSU woud be lesser than 5 lakhs and living will be covered by part times in all of them
In University of florida i will get a single room where as in GSU and SJSU i have to share room with other people i am afraid that it will hinder my preparation for jobs & internships
In San Jose the job area is more compared to others
I was really confused which one to choose among them. Will cost matter (or) sharing a room with other people matter (or) Companies around will matter ?
Will spending 25 lakhs besides having tuition waiver regrets me in long term while repaying loan?
Please answer my question as deadline for these are approaching
Regards,
Rama Reddy.
Choose San Jose cause of silicone valley I know there are going to be a lot of problems cause of how expensive it is going to be, but the growth and learning is going to be tremendous. It will be worth it but, it will take time to feel that way. GSU is also a really good choice.
Is the deductible your monthly pay for the insurance? Or is that something different
No that is called premium. Deductible, as parth explains is what you pay from your pocket when you have a medical visit. Suppose your medical visit costs 4500$ and you have parth's exact insurance plan, you will pay 1750 from your pocket. Now you are left with 2750$. Now in this 2750, you will pay 20% which is 550$.
Now, your actual cost for the medical visit is 4500 and you pay 1750+550 = 2300 dollars if you go by parth's insurance plan.
Side note - The lesser the deductible, the more the premium. Why? Because you are asking the insurance folks to cover the cost and you are opting to pay lesser.
If your medical visit costs, say , 10000$ - You will pay 1750 + 20% of 3250 (3250 because you need to reach to 5000) and after you cross the 5000$ mark, everything else is covered by insurance but again that will increase your premium.
@@bananawarriorwootwoot thank you for the detailed response! That helps a lot :D
@@bananawarriorwootwoot holy shit thats insane. after living in full paid insurance in qatar its going to be mad painful to pay all this in usa.
@@RB2S123 Well that depends on how well you take care of yourself. I have been living here for 4 years now and 99% of the time I self medicate and ensure my diet is always on point.
Thankfully, I have not had a single doctor visit apart from covid checkups and general health stuff which is all free.
So I guess it depends on how often you need medical help.
Up to you.
@@bananawarriorwootwoot can we buy medicine for chemist like here in India or we need a Dr prescription for that, nd of so then how much will be the cost of prescription?
Will the prescription would be counted as a Dr visit? And they will charge tremendously??
