My Camry is making this noise and this is the first video I’ve watched. Nailed it!
Thank you for watching and for the comment! I am glad this helped with your problem
Hi Big Al, I had the exact same issue in my car and your fix worked! I used silicone lubricant instead of WD-40. Thank you for the video!

I appreciated man
Thanks so much for your comment. Best of luck with your next DIY project and hopefully you will subscribe to Big Al Repairs.
Mine was EXACTLY like that!! Not WD40 but PB Blaster silicone. No more squeaky 👏🏻👍🏻WD doesn’t last but PBB does.
Yes PB Blaster is a great product, unfortunately we didn't have any on hand. Thanks for the comment! Hopefully it stays squeak free!
Question.. what’s the difference? In my head Im thinking that the silicone would lubricate a bit better because the wd-40 to me is more of a cleaning solution.. so in my theory you could spray it with wd-40 to clean it wait for it to dry then spray it with the silicone.. I probably have it all wrong lol 😂
Thanks! Now I can fix this on my squeky car
Thanks so much for your comment. Best of luck with your next DIY project and hopefully you will subscribe to Big Al Repairs.
Mine wasn’t similar to yours but checked in the general area, looked around and was able to fix it thanks a lot man!
That is awesome! What kind of car do you have? Thanks for reaching out and letting us know. Good luck with future projects!
Ayyyy we got the same last name 🇲🇽M

i used a spray grease it worked for my 1990 e34.. thanks alot
Glad it worked for you! Thanks for letting us know and for the nice comment. Good luck with future projects!
habiiiiib1😂😂
Use silicon paste or white lightening grease it will last a very long time. WD-40 tends to dry up and attract dirt.
@Jerry. Thanks so much for your comment and suggestion. We're always looking for better ways to do things. Best of luck with your next DIY project.
White lithium grease?
God bless you brother! White lithium grease did the trick
That’s what I was wondering - thank you!
Use white grease it last longer but u have to massage it in and move the boot around a little bit
Thanks for the tip
This helped a lot 🥇
Thanks for the nice comment! Glad it was helpful.
@@BigAlRepairs my camry thanks you
@@smifnwess93 Thank you too!
So funny mine had the same "fuzz" as yours, lol!
@Leah. I love it. I hope you were also able to get rid of the sound. Have a great Thanksgiving.

just so everyone knows ur bushings are cooked this should just be a temp solution to fixing ur issue
Thanks for the information. Best of luck with your next DIY project and hopefully you will subscribe to Big Al Repairs.
so how do you fix it completely?
@@Frreezingusing SILICONE based grease/lube spray.. those will not damage rubber and plastic unlike OIL based grease/lube spray
Lol yo wtf HAHAHAH fairly agreed to this man!

Mine squeek too. Even Toyota service guys not able to pinpoint the root cause and solve the squeeking problem. After seeing this video, maybe I will DIY it.
Thanks so much for your comment. Best of luck with your next DIY project! Please give us an update.
I got a similar sound but in a different make. I'm going to check out the area you describe. Maybe I can fix mine too.
I hope it helps! Thanks for the comment and for watching the video. Let us know if it helps!
@@BigAlRepairs Got up under there, and find out mine is not as accessible. It basically has a boot covering everything all the way to a wide flared base attached to the firewall/floor area.
@@chickenfarm09 Dang. That is too bad. I'm not sure how you can go about lubricating that if there is a boot. Is there any way you can move it back a little bit to add a lubricant? Best of luck and hopefully you have great success.
@@BigAl-1 Doesn't seem to move much, and I don't want to rip it. Not only that but I don't really know what all components are inside.
@@chickenfarm09 I wish I had an answer for you. You might want to talk to a service department mechanic at the dealership and see if they have any suggestions. Or look on some forums online. Best of luck and let us know how it turns out.
I’ve got a 2014 Ford Raptor , I’ve experienced some annoying squealing / rubbing noises within the steering wheel only when steering to the left on a stop or at an angle . Is it the same area as diagnosed in the video ?
Thanks
@Khaled. I assume it should be in the same general area. Please let us know how it turns out.
Silicon WD40 works great!
Yes silicone works great. Thanks for the nice comment!
I did it on my w205. There is rubber with yellow ring there. Push the rubber to the floor direction then lubricate with silicon lubricant in sprey. Push back black rubber and noices are gone.
Thanks for the information. Best of luck with your next DIY project and hopefully you will subscribe to Big Al Repairs.
Would silicone spray help too?
Yes silicone spray would work really well too.
I have a similar sound on my 07 chevy trailblazer , Can this happen or be the cause of the squeak on chevy's as well ? I only really notice / hear it when turning the steering wheel when car is running and I move the wheel back and forth a few inches from a sitting still / parked position ... dont really hear it while driving at normal speed , Maybe it does it a little at very low speeds such as in a parking lot , but it does sound like it's coming from the steering wheel and not outside the car .
It could very well be the same thing. Thanks so much for your comment. Best of luck with your next DIY project! Please let us know what the problem is.
I got a 2003 jeep liberty , do you kno where its at inside ? I can't find it
@Jayy800. Unfortunately if it is not in a similar location as the Camry I'm not sure where it is. Best of luck and please let us know if you find a solution.
Where would I find this in a 2007 jeep liberty?
@Diana. It should be similar to the Camry. It is right above the brake pedal. Best of luck.
Is there a way you can redo this please. I have no clue where that part is to use the WD-40. If I can fix it I will most definitely try anything
It's under the dash. Where your feet are when driving. Near the brake pedal. Look down there with a flash light and turn your steering wheel - you will see it turning. You can see in the video at the 1:00 mark
Thanks for the comment. Yes as stated in the comment below, start the video at :58 and it will show you. It is right above the brake pedal. Yes, a flashlight should help! Let me know if you still have trouble finding it.
I have same sound in my mitsubishi pajero 2015..from same area.. I will try same solution
Kapil, thanks so much for your comment and best of luck with your next DIY project. Please give us an update. Hopefully you subscribe to Big Al Repairs.

lithium spray will last a lot longer - thanks for the info.
Bob, thanks for the suggestion. We are always trying to find better ways to do things. Thanks so much for your comment! Best of luck with all your DIY projects and hopefully you will subscribe to Big Al Repairs.
can you show us where to lubricate? I am not sure where exactly it is?
Unfortunately I no longer have the vehicle. But if you just follow the steering column down it just got from where the brake pedal dance you'll look up you should be able to identify what is on the video. Best of luck and let us know how it turns out.
did it make that sound all the time or randomly?
@Izzee 24. It made the sound anytime you turn the steering wheel. Yes it was all the time. Best of luck with your project.
WD40 dries up. Its really not a lubricant but a water displacement solution. WD40 with silicon or lithium spray would last longer.
I own a 2000 Toyota Camry and my steering wheel squeak something terrible so I am watching your video to see what I can do to fix this annoying noise.
@Amber. I hope the video helps you get rid of the noise. Let us know how it turns out. Best of luck!
As far I can see, it's temporary fix. What about Lucas Red N Tacky grease?
I'm not familiar with that product. I will have to take a look at it. It might be a better lubricant. Thanks for the suggestion.
Would thisnwork for a 2006 chrysler 300c
@Sketchy. The only way to find out if it will work is get up underneath the steering column and take a look and see if you can see that unit rotating. Best of luck and let us know how it turns out.
@@BigAl-1 i have same car so does the car needs to be started to do this ? to go underneath on top of the pedals to access the steering column and spray?
@@Don-y1i Great question. It does not have to be started but it does make it a lot easier if it is running because then the power steering is working. Best of luck with your projects and hopefully subscribe.
So what’s that part of the car called?
Birb, the steering wheel attaches to a shaft (called a steering column) that connects to a rack (a long metal component with serrated teeth that links the two front wheels together). The steering column and rack are joined with a gear wheel called a pinion. I hope that description helps. Best of luck and hopefully you subscribe to big al repairs.
So it's not be necessarily the power steering pump? Another channel hinted at that.
The power steering can cause sounds if you're lacking fluid. But this can also cause a sound and that was the problem with our steering wheel. Thanks so much for your comment. Best of luck with all your DIY projects.
@@BigAl-1 THank you for your reply as well! You do great videos.
@@Trakehner20 Thanks so much!
Hi!... I have the same car... so do I need to remove the steering wheel? Can I fix this as a non mechanic?
Hey, we fixed it by spraying a lubricant underneath by the foot petals. Watch the video and let us know if you have any other questions. You do not need to remove the steering wheel.
I’m going to try.... my son said it sounds similar to the sound you mentioned and he can hear it on the outside of the car... could that be a more serious issue?
@@Lglover001 You could always try it on the inside steering wheel and see if that takes care of the problem. If not you might have to dig deeper to find the problem coming from the outside
@@BigAlRepairs thank you 😊
@@BigAlRepairs Mine makes a sound where the steering wheel connects to the drive shaft instead , I sprayed some wd40 but didn't wanna soak the connectors , is that ok to wet the connections ?
What exactly is that part you lubricated called, sir?
Thanks for your comment. The rubber part is called a Gaiter and the rod is called the steering column. I hope that helps. Best of luck with your next DIY project and hopefully you will subscribe to Big Al Repairs.
@BigAl-1 thanks but you didn't answer my question.
@@fallenone6 I did edit it with the answer, but I think you had already responded. The rubber part is called a Gaiter and the rod is called the steering column. I hope that helps. Best of luck with your next DIY project and hopefully you will subscribe to Big Al Repairs.
@@BigAl-1 thank you
The problem with WD40 for that is that’s it a petroleum based product and a lot of rubber sleeves are not petroleum resistant. Great video but find a lube that’s not petroleum based
My steering wheel sounds like a mouse.
That must be a strange sound to hear.
Let us know how you end up fixing it. Best of what.
Is it serious issue
Thanks so much for your comment. It really isn't a problem if you don't mind the sound. Best of luck with your next DIY project.
My steering wheel is Squealing what could be causing that
I guess you tried the remedy that is on the video. I am really not sure where the sound is coming from. I I could be of more help. So best of luck if you get an update please let us know how you were able to solve the problem. Thanks for the question.
They charge you 30k for a car but couldnt come up with part that self lubricates most used part in the car 🤯
Exactly! Thanks for the comment!
Anybody think Vaseline would work?
@John. I think just about any type of lubricant even vaseline would work.
bro Wd40 isnot a good lubricant, thats why it came back, use a different product
Such as??
@@robertoroberto9826 check homedepot they have different kinds
@@bluesparrow1287 Thank you for the tip. Just curious as why you think it is not a good lubricant? Any thoughts or specific recommendations for our viewers would be helpful to them as it sounds like you have experience
If you use silicone lubricant, the sound wont come back. I assume there was grease when it left the factory. Wd-40 is a water based lubricant.
@@BLUEZIE1979 Yes, WD40 also has a silicone lubricant which we linked in our description
